Field Recording 101 with Dr Isobel Anderson

Музыка

Are you curious about using found sound and environmental textures in your music or wider creative practice but not sure where to start?
Sound is an incredible material to sculpt and play with as an artist and musician but recording outside of a pristine studio environment can feel daunting, especially if you presume you’ll need a variety of expensive equipment to get recordings that actually sound good.
The great news? You can do so much with not a lot, once you know a few key basic principles of field recording.
Jump inside this hour-long masterclass, recording during Sound of Belfast 2021, with Dr Isobel Anderson who shares the field recording techniques she’s used across both her music releases and PhD in Sonic Arts. With over 10 years experience of working in this medium, you’ll walk away from Isobel’s masterclass with clear, practical field recording techniques that you can put into practice, right away.
This is an introductory masterclass for anyone interested in working with new audio textures, whether that be music, sound, sculpture or anything else, and beginner’s are most definitely welcome!

I like to put my field recordings into a sampler and chop them up to include in my music. Great fun!

I love field recording! I just don't know how to post process and sell them. I just created a Bandcamp account. I'm going to put together a Botanical Garden sounds album.

Really nice video! Hope you can do the screenrecordings in a bit higher resolution, as it puta lot of strain in the eyes watching "blurry" video. Othervise, this video was very helpful =D
