I've had my heart set on the Midnight version of this one because of the sound on their own videos and the fact that it's a non-standard look to it but I've been getting a bit more nervous about it as I've been getting closer to actually being able to order it. This video has really helped me decide that it's really the best option for me for what i want and how much i can spend, especially since I'll be paying for the synthetic core string upgrade. Thank you so very much for this. I just subscribed and hopefully i can join the Patreon soon as well.

Maestro-Kimon, I've had a lot of experience with Fiddlershop and Pierre and his son Michael, the founder and cofounder. They are the epitome of customer service and their products are of wonderful quality. I'm buying another violin from them a couple of weeks and just want everyone to know it they have any worries about buying online, this is one company that will never let them down. BTW, love your videos, they are very informative. Keith

Have done business with Fiddlershop for almost two years and have always been very happy with products, service and timely response. I have expensive DAdario strings on my good violin and use DAdario prelude steel strings on my second instrument. I've been very pleased with both types of strings. Different instruments and uses for different strings.

Quite a sweet tone for a budget instrument. Better strings would make a big difference.

Fiddlershop is pretty nice honestly! I got my cello bow on there, a decent little carbon fiber one for like... $175USD? I forget exactly but very affordable and much better than the average starter bow.

Review well done. I would not expect better strings on their bottom priced entry level instrument. They would have to up the price and there are those of us that are taking that step because it's all we can dish out. Better strings can be acquired later.

Thank you very much for this video, Maestro! When I was first learning, I would have loved to have such a complete kit available to me (and surely, my parents would agree). I see that they have carbon fiber instruments for sale. Have you ever worked with this material as a luthier, or played one yourself? What do you think of them?

@@maestrokimon I was intrigued by Yo-Yo Ma's Luis & Clark carbon fiber cello when he first debuted it. KZread cellist GnuS has a lovely video on his CF cello as well. The sound projection and warm resonance is very appealing, as well as the look of the material itself. Even parts like sound posts and bridges are available in carbon fiber. I do like the idea of them being impervious to environmental changes, like humidity and temperature, and from what I hear, they generally are lighter in weight.

I am very impressed by the set and its price. I bought my violin for 250 euros at a local luthier. With setup up, bow, shoulder rest, raising as a case included. A tuner for 10 euros and later I bought a mute for 20 euros as a tuner to clip on for another 20 euro. And a cleaning cloth. Later I switched the Pirastro strings to Dominat strings because of personal taste. As my mother lately gifted me her old violin I now gave it to the luthier to repair and set up so it's playable again. That time we had a more detailed talk about the set up as I already had some personal expectations. F.e. Knilling perfection pegs instead of fine tuners on the tail piece. In total that will cost me 600 euros. The violin itself is not worth the price. But it's still better quality than my Chinese build first violin. And I like the family background. I am not sure what to do with the case. Restoring is not really worth it. With removing all broken parts there won't be a lot original material left anyway. Probably I will buy a grewa air. I like that they still have that violin shape. At said luthier I actually found a violin which is build by the father of my great grandfather. I didn't knew he was a Luthier back then. But that violin is not affordable for me. So, a violin journey starts somewhere. And I think that that fidlershop set seems to be a very good start of which one can started from the beginning and find it's personal way of improvement.

Meastro, do you have any tips on how to only change the G string without taking out the D string because the window in which you insert the G string is pretty tight .... Also a great review ❤️

Hello Mahmoud. I understand the struggle but I have no real tip to give you. You could lower the tension of the D string and put it a bit aside to create more space.

Hi Again, Thanks for you answer! I have two questions please: is it worth it to learn and progress in the Violin making; I mean is it profitable apart from the Art and Joy after finish making a violin. I believe it is really a fine art! The second question; sorry I have searched the net but could not find an answer; the question is where to find the best shop/market to buy the full tree(s) suitable for making violins. Thanks once again!

Like every profession, if you are good and dedicated in what you do you will be able to make a living. If you go for the big money, try something else though!!! A hole tree? None does that. You can buy pieces appropriately cut for instrument making. Have a look for my suppliers on my links page here: maestrokimon.com/links-
