I was involuntarily reclassed to 19D from 11B when I didn't get selected for SF. I was very upset. I got over quickly after getting to a scout troop. Just as much history and tradition, and a badass job to go with it. 11B or 19D, I'm damn proud to be both.

That doesn't make any sense. When you go for special forces (18X) you have to first complete OSUT as an 11X.

@@pantherowow77 18x guys go through 11b osut. I went through 11b osut delta company 1-50, then airborne school. When I didn't get selected airborne infantry was at 125% strength. They reclassed a lot of us to 19d.

Recently lost a brother in the cav, this brings back memories.

Had to memorize this on my Spur Ride in Afghanistan! Got my Silver Spurs! Sign me! SFC Andrew Kovacsy, HHC, 3-227th AHB, 1st Air Cav Bde, 1st Cav Division, Afghanistan 11-12. I'd do it all over again!!!

I started listening to this & instantly recognized the voice of Nick Searcy. The man is damn good. Glad they got him to recite this. A great actor can add a lot.

Tears of rage and regret. It should have been me, not my brothers. I had lived a life already and they were still young men full of potential. I still mention there names when I drink, and I know they are all waiting for me at the canteen. Their sacrifice over a decade ago has allowed me to live and to prosper in ways that I could never have imagined, but it still should have been me. E Troop 108 Cav. OIF 3 Mahmudiyah Iraq.

Fiddler's green is a paradise before hell. In Fiddler's green there is drinking, laughter, good cheer and good company while fiddle music plays gently. And you are reunited with loved ones too.

Remembering the 18 fallen of Task Force Lancer 2/5 Cavalry, Sadr City, Baghdad, Iraq, OIF II. Forever grateful for their selfless service and sacrifice. God bless their Gold Star Families.

Wednesday I set off, marched a grand total of 25 miles, did my lanes, and went to the board with my team Thursday morning. It got to 18 degrees and we didn’t stop. Today I earned my silver spurs on the airfield. If you ain’t Cav, you ain’t shit. 6-17 CAV.

As a medic I pulled coverage for a few spur rides and deployed twice with the 1CD. This poem always has a special place in my heart.

I, was a Cavalry Scout for 10 years and reclassed to EOD for 10 years. My favorite unit was 5/17 Cav. Scouts Out.

11B in 3rd Cav. Tiger Squadron. Spur holder. Proud to have been a trooper.

And when the SAPPER fills the air, with mist so pink and keen. You'll know a foe will join you to share the Fiddlers Green.

I go to school and theres a vet in my session. He knows my story and that i don't consider myself a vet but he did tell me this. "We'll never stop missing it and you won't either. It just gets easier."

@@DanMcClinton thank you. I'm still here. I died last summer from drinking my liver into submission. It was the beginning of July I had just cooked food for dinner and I'm really good at cooking I made salmon and I got into the bed with my baby daughter and my girlfriend from what I was told I started violently flipping front and back and then I had a cardiac arrest and I was put on an induced coma I woke up in the hospital just before August God gave me a second chance I won't give up. My daughter loves me so much. That was hard to type.
