That doesn't look very weak to me. I guarantee you that if you do that to vinyl or aluminum siding that it would tear it up too. Wood siding would also be destroyed with an axe.

Noted. I will not rely on cement fibre board the next time it's hailing bricks, regardless I think I'll have bigger concerns at that point.
