    TheStraightPipes The Fiat, for sure. You can straight pipe it if you want the noise (!) or buy an upgraded Monza exhaust. You can rest your arm while driving, it’s a slightly higher ride and the suspension stays flat in corners. I’d change the badges for classic smaller Fiat ones, get a wood shifter and people are tuning these to 300+ hp (including changing turbo timing)...for thousands less than the equivalent MX-5.

    To all those people ranting about advertising, I have my own rant to match. It costs time and money to produce content of this quality. A typical 30 minute show on cable TV has 8 minutes of advertising and 22 minutes of content. For an average 15 minute video, I don't think the advertising exceeds 4 minutes. Yes, they have in-built plug-ins but that is more directed advertising and more subtle than typical instagram models. These guys need money for gas too. Be nice! Always!

    Begin Rant: California is THE WORST state in the US for left lane hogs. Slow drivers refuse to get out of the overtaking lane so often here that the slow lanes almost always end up serving as overtaking lanes. These inconsiderate drivers think the left lane is their cruise lane. I'm SOOO sick of it I'm considering leaving the state on that point alone. What makes it worse is when you finally relent to pass on the right, the left lane hog often suddenly gets defensive and speeds up forcing you to go even faster than you wanted to go just to get in front of them. The ultimate worst is people who pass 18-wheelers at 1mph faster than they are traveling. DON'T YOU KNOW HOW DANGEROUS IT IS TO HANG NEXT TO A GIANT TRUCK?? Pass that thing as fast as you can and get back in the lane you belong. I simply don't understand people like this when it's soooo freaking easy to do the considerate thing and move over into the right. I yield to faster traffic ALL THE TIME. I'm not any less of a man for it, it's simply the considerate thing to do. If you're driving the speed limit and you don't think someone should be driving faster, it is NOT YOUR JOB to enforce that. It's the highway patrol's job. Slower traffic should ALWAYS and without exception safely yield to faster oncoming traffic. It creates safer traffic patterns. End Rant.

    I am not saying that the golf is the ultimate hot hatch. Its just that people are always comparing every type of hot hatch to the golf. For example, I personally like the looks of the forte5 sx but the first review I saw had a top comment of someone saying that its a pos that copies gti. Even the elantra gt sport is a pretty nice italian looking hatch but even that gets compared to the gti. Not saying the gti is bad but people don't give other cars a try much to form any type of good argumentent.

    Fantastic video and liking that new pedal cam!! I’d have to agree with Yuri @ 2:45. I’d rather have the MX5 because the way Fiat was introduced into the North American market doesn’t fit this car’s style. It would be better if this model had no Fiat logos, especially that logo on that steering wheel as mentioned @ 6:25. But, still excited for this car partnership (much like the AE86) and hope Fiat/Mazda is willing to improve/refine this project.

    I have driven the 2017 Fiat 124 Abarth & a 2016 Mazda MX-5 Club back to back on test drives. From that I have thoughts on both of these cars but I'm looking at a Daily Driver. Not a weekend toy ! So 1st up was the 2017 124 Spyder Abarth & it was in the White color with Black trim looking very cool. The interior features a Red tach in the cluster which I really liked. The car has a tight shift pattern & 2 times on the test drive I stalled the car from a stop because I was in 3rd not 1st ! I was in traffic & the clutch felt abnormally heavy for a small sports car. The 1.4 L turbo has some lag to it so the throttle response has delay. It handled well as expected. Both cars came equipped with Brembo brakes. Next was the MX-5 Club White with Black trim as well looking good. What the interior felt like was a better place to drive. The shifter immediately felt better in my hand. There was no notchy feeling & 1st was always found. The clutch was super light a real easy setup on the Mazda. The throttle response is instant in this car step on the gas & there is no delay. The naturally aspirated 2.0L 4 cylinder has a great power band & every gear had real push immediately. The car felt much more nimble than the 124 Spyder in corners. Quicker reflexes on this car. The dealer was awesome & gave me the car for Sunday partially Monday ( work got in way ) for an EXTENDED test drive. So I put my $$$ where my mouth is & bought the 2016 MX-5 Club with Brembo / BBS package. I daily drive this car in 4 season Illinois so when the cold weather hits the winter tires go on & its ALMOST as much fun in winter. Very fun car & so well designed. 3.5 years later & I would do it all again in a heartbeat !

    Different cars, look at the names, in Europe it’s an Abarth 124 spider, in the states it’s a Fiat 124 Abarth, the Europe one is an Abarth, it goes on a little trip from japan to the Abarth factory in Italy for some Abarth bits to be added, the US one is a Fiat 124 spider with some Abarth badges stuck to it.

    I like the Fiata. It's styling is reminiscent of the NB Miata, but a bit more aggressive. I'm still not a fan of the ND Miata styling with its oddly shaped fenders, but I'm glad Mazda shared the platform for another alternative. Engineering specs on both cars are intriguing and I have to imagine normal aspiration vs. turbo affects one's choice in terms of driving experience. Hell, I'm just glad clutch manual transmission cars exist. I suspect one day they won't.

    Wow! Wasn't expecting to see this tbh. Anyways, when I bought the launch edition ND Miata in 2015, this was seriously discussed in the forums, but since it was still just a rumor/concept back then I didn't pay too much attention to it. I'd say I still like the Miata better, the styling of the 124 just doesn't speak to me as much as the Miata's, still a great car though.

    The starting price for 124 is great. 31500 + some discounts they are offering sounds very appealing. The only problem I have and that's what stops me from considering this car as a next purchase - soft top. I would easily pay 2-3k premium for a hard top version, but there is none. And you don't daily your soft top here in Canada.

    I far prefer the looks of the 124. I always defended the MX-5's looks when they redesigned it and I maintain that it, along with other Mazdas, is a good-looking car. That being said, the 124 is a far better-looking car in comparison.

    The 1.4 MultiJet engine that is the heart of this automobile, is one of the most solid turbo engines to ever be put into production. Lately they've added smart direct injection, which reduces carbon buildup. It has a great reputation for being light agile and very reliable (yeah, let the italian car stereotypes roll in without any knowledge). The chassis is roughly the same as the ND's, only with one MAJOR difference. The Abarth has a proper Limited Slip as standart. That makes a big difference. Also, the Fiat is lighter thanks to the Turbo 1.4.

    picked one of these up in the classica 6speed about 8 months before the pandemic supply shortage caused used prices to skyrocket. within 6 months they were already selling for 7k more than I paid....but there's no way I'd flip it. I've always driven trucks and only picked this up because it was only 1 of 2 manuals on the lot, but I'm in love. Over a year later, and even with a pretty big following here in Texas, I've only ever seen 2 others in the wild. So much fun

    Great review Guys. Two things about style. Styles change - true style never changes.... your Seiko SKX007 is an example of true style. Timeless. The final thing about style... at the end of day you, ‘unfortunately’ are inevitably going to be visiting your local Dodge dealership every time you want it serviced. Hardly stylish, especially when you have to park between a Caravan and a 3/4 ton Cummins pickup (or worse a Neon). Thanks for the video.

    Subscribed. I’m looking at a fiat over an ND2 for one reason. Autocross. The fiat goes into STU rather than STR. I think it might be a fun build to see what it can do. Also if it doesn’t work out all the suspension parts are sellable to either chassis and plenty of fiat owners want power adders. All this said I might hold off to see what they add for the 2019. I doubt they will do anything different, this is fiat after all.

    I have a 2019 Spyder Abarth, I got a good deal because it had 1600 miles on it. Original owner traded it in on a new Hemi Cuda because the Fiat was too small (it is too small, oh well) . I wouldn't have chosen black, but it's still beautiful. I would normally NEVER buy an Italian car. Great food and scenery, unreliable cars. Made on the same assembly line as the Miata was the reason I got it INSTEAD of a Miata. I love it!

  • @carll693
    @carll6938 ай бұрын

    Hey guys. I have owned every generation of the Miata/MX-5. I sold my brand new ND2 2023 Club after 1 month and 500km. It was a little too small and feminine looking although I loved the Recaro and Brembo with BBS look. I just bought a 2017 124spider Abarth. Much more masculine looking, agressive and love every angle. Seats fit my body type better and the drive and handling is much more European tuned vs the MX-5. Noticed it right away. Plus it has all the bells a whistles including parking sensors. Only thing missing is Apple CarPlay but it connects great to my iPhone via Bluetooth and displays what is playing on the screen. I love the Italian design and Japanese build quality. I previously owned a 2004 Mazdaspeed Miata, which I loved except had no A/C and was not drivable on summer hot days. I have owned S5 convertible, S4 V8 convertible, BMW 4 series convertible… and I always keep coming back to a RWD FUN vehicle! For now I am happy having her hibernating in my garage for the winter months under her Mopar custom Abarth car cover. Looking forward to next summer. As they say it’s more fun driving a slow car fast than a fast car slow… looking forward to accumulating more smiles per mile (km) than ever before! Cheers from Montreal!

The car is not a re-badged Miata, it's using the same châssis and interior layout but there's a lot different about this Italian car made in Japan. The only American part in this car is that the sales folks at dealers are all Chrysler douchbros. Their review is kind of stupid tbh.
