    This video led me down a rabbit hole that opened my eyes on Lalafells. Since Sil'Dih is not a city you can "normally" visit I began to suspect foul play. What I discovered was the most heinous of war crimes the little people ever perpetuated on themselves...

    hm, yes and no. Our jobs of todays are a far cry from their origin's and power. Gotta remember white mages of Old stood toe to toe with Black mages. Black Mages of old were basically unbeatable until the rise of white magic. the WoL is basically unlocking and learning arts that they used to exist in the old ages.

  • @sixthcairn

    @sixthcairn

    Жыл бұрын

    Not quite. Many of the professions in the present era are watered down versions of the old ones, ie. black magic becoming thaumaturgy, and the only reason why the Warrior of Light is able to obtain so much ancient knowledge is because they keep stumbling into so many soul crystals that basically lets them speedrun their training.

  • @foxdavion6865

    @@sixthcairncorrect, in fact until recently Black Magic was entirely outlawed (thaumatury being a regulated codified verson which was considered potent enough to serve as a weapon without the practitioner being a threat to themselves or the world) this edict was in effect for the majority of the storyline and the Warrior of Light kept their use of it on the downlow. The Warrior convinced everyone to lift the ban during the events of the class questline. Same is the case with White Magic, it became heavily regulated, only to be used by Paji, during the course of the White Mage class quests, the Warrior convinced everyone to loosen the regulation. Scholar magic and primal summoning had been lost entirely and you rediscover it in the class quest. All of these questlines tie into the greater story of the game and effectively change dialogue and interactions in both the MSQ and side content with other characters. These limitations are highligted by the fact regular non player adventurers are all classes and do not have access to jobs (with the exception of retainers) with both the ARR duty assist members and command squads being only classes.

    @@shiro3146correct. The system which predates the TRUST system which is the scripted single player dungeon content with adventurer or scion (and friends) companions doesn't have these restrictions because it is new lore content, but the OG single player dungeon experience with your Grand Company Squadron consisted of adventurers who are stuck to the class system and do not have access to job abilities, even at level 60, so as you'd imagine, their competency falls off sharply after level 30

    So for hundreds of thousands of years, life on this planet was demarcated by periods of prosperity/conflict followed by elemental devastation brought about by an unknown source??? But then all of a sudden, the most recent calamity was non elemental, brought about directly by the actions of a civilization, and ended in the blink of an eye???? I guess that's progress but I still don't totally understand why the writers decided to make it that way. Anyway, thank you so much for making this video!!!! Made perfect sense and covered so much ground 👏👏

    Nice video, but few corections. Umbral Eras are not only when the Calamities happen, but also aftermaths. Umbral Eras are those of Chaos and healing from said Calamities, and can last hundres of years. The shortest we have as far as is known is Seventh Umbral which started with Bahamuth Rampage, lasted for five years and ended when Three States of Eorzea united into an alliance. But the time lines is basically Calamity -> Umbral Era (The Time of Darkness) -> Astral Era (The Time of Light) -> Calamity -> Umbral Era and so on and on. And it is always during the Umbral Eras when Warriors of Light rise and slowly help to heal the wounded world, thus resulting in Astral Era.

    Wow... Other channels that tried to tell the history of FF14 was just regurgitating back what was told in the game, which was already confused to me. Maybe its your team's visual and art designs that helped me picture and formulate thoughts of what happened in FF14. I'm understanding more and more of the past in FF14. Most of the things with the Allagan Empire failing, its connection to the World of Darkness, and Amon's actions, finally made sense. If I read more lore about it, I could, at least now, understand the premise instead of skipping past because it felt like history's lore gibberish to me. I hope you guys do a history lore of Hydaelyn and Zodiark, what led to their summoning, and of the other shard worlds. There's not enough information about it yet, but when there is enough to make the content, I'll be waiting.

    I gotta say. I love the courage it took for the devs to see their game wasn't working, so they let the grand quest to save the world... FAIL in canon. A brilliant way to reboot the world and effectively reset everything story and mechanics wise back to zero. And even leave the fallout of that failure as future questlines. Huge risk, but considering how popular FF14 is... I think it worked out.

    i assume the real beginning of "hydaelyn" was left out cause its still fresh somewhat? but i also see you're missing some events too from the past such as: the arrival of the ixal on eorzea, the broken pact between limsa an the beast tribes which lead to the summonings of Titan and Leviathan, how the ancients of Goug created the lighthouse and then later fled north to ilsabard for fear of persecution and subjugation by the other established nations, uldah's betrayal of the amalja which lead to them summoning ifrit in retaliation, Ganon's creation of Geomancy which was used to build othard up as a nation, Tenzen bringing peace to the eastern shores by bringing man and auspice into harmony, the schools of the Fist of Rhalgr being split and eventually destroyed by mad king theordric, how bozja repealed Allag by creating an eikon queen, Midgardsomr's arrival upon "hydaelyn" before Allag was an empire and his children spreading out across the continent to multiply and grow, how before magitek the garlean people relied upon voidsent for protection, myrlweb banning piracy to reform limsa and bring order, Raubahn's rise to fame at the coliseum which not only earned him freedom but also bought him a seat on the syndicate an allowed him to create a military body in the form of the immortal flames, and how the duskwight fell out of favor with the elementals an tarnished as outcasts by the formed gridanian nation, and there is still a ton more lmao

    The sound effects are really annoying if you’re just listening to this. This video would be much improved by simply omitting them

    Does it ever get annoying with all these "fans" in the comment section, constantly nagging for videos other than the one you just posted?
