I was surprised that you went and did a FF 14 universe. I would've liked to hear what you said about the universes of FF 7, 8, n 9. Now those would be interesting. But still. It's a nice video.

Except Amon was all in on Xande's little project, including the genocide of allowing the Cloud of Darkness free reign throughout the world. Dude had issues, largely relating to suppressed memory in a past life.

Its amazing how many events in one empire's history should come with the asterisk "this will be important later"

The humour here sometimes really reminds me of Hitchhickers Guide to the Galaxy

If your doing final fantasy then I strongly suggest legend of the galactic heroes, trust me it’s worthy of your channel

i know mine is but a say in a sea of voice (and i have a lingering suspicion that some people are going to dislike me for this), but i really hope to see something from Paolini's Inheritance Cycle in this channel. the cycle was the first fantasy-themed thing i seriously delved into and i like it to this day. great video as always, it's amazing to know that K&G, W&W and TCW is available for free.

@@frankishe7317 There is a little. We still see the battles that we take part in, and know about some lesser attacks to villages around Ishgard. It's not much but still best than nothing.

Wow I totally didn't expect that Final Fantasy would be tackled. And while I admit having little to no knowledge on XIV, this is still sure to be an interesting video. If I'm not mistaken, among other mainline FF games, XI and XII can also be potential subjects?

You failed to mention that the great leap in technology that this civilization had was thanks to the Omega Weapon that came from another VERY distant world. It is said during the game that it was thanks to this alien knowledge that the Allagan Empire made a leap of hundreds or perhaps thousands of years in its technology.

Yeah was going to say the reason they became so powerful was because of the Omega weapon. They had the open minds too study and incorporate it, and Omega already was in a long standing fight with the dragons who are also aliens if I recall. Midgardsomr I believe was the one he pursued.

How much would you recommend Final Fantasy 14? I never played, but I'm already fascinated by the lore

It's very much worth your time if you like very well crafted universes with meaningful storylines and engaging characters. It's a big time commitment to get through all the story content (talking literally hundreds of hours of story content since the game has been going over a decade at this point), but it's very rewarding to see how everything begins to fit together over the course of the story. Either way, the free trial is substantial enough in that it gives you access to an absurd amount of story for basically nothing, so there's really no risk to giving it ago aside from the time investment obviously.

@@marcusblackwell2372 For everything up to the most recent expansion, Endwalker, then yes, you will need a subscription to get the full experience (as the game is in constant development and to cover the costs of the data centres/servers), but you get literally everything in the base game and the first expansion, Heavensward, for free as part of the free trial. Prior knowledge of the franchise is helpful to spot all of the references and easter eggs, but for actually understanding the storyline, it is not necessary as everything you need to know is communicated in the game itself.
