It's a big, beautiful, impressive effect without blinding players and obscuring the battlefield. I hate the Red Mage one, I can't see anything that's going on and sometimes wind up getting hit by mechanics I can't even see because of it!

I'm so hyped for Pictomancer!! 🎨🖌 I don't quite get all the details of how you use the canvas abilities, but the landscape/support skill seems fun. It will be rewarding to use it at the right time and place within a fight to maximize its uptime. I hope we get to use it fairly often and it's not just another 2-minute buff window thing.

There's a lot of information to take in with this and I want to try it out myself. Thanks for the video.

Sorry if you mentioned it in the video but should you priotize your motifs? like should i throw away my standard rotation in combat to start drawing the motifs?

Can you save black comet charges? Or do you have to use them once you pallet swap?

Can you time it so you have subtractive going into the landscape buff so you can do 2 subtractive back to back rather than 1 additive and 1 subtractive? (Since additive is so much weaker)

Do you think maybe it would be worth it to swiftcast the rainbow beam thing?

Can the Canvases be moved around seperately on the HUD layout or are they affixed into that horizontal line?

My guess would be that they're in a fixed shape, but surely you can move them around the screen. Maybe we can change the size of it? It seems rather large by default.

Have they simplified the amount of spells/skills jobs have and the whole spell/skill rotation thing?

I love summoner as it is now, and I will definitely cehck Picto out, but it sounds so complicated

The thing I'm iffy about is the long recast time for the motifs in combat. Of course it's easy enough to balance the potency of the muses and the follow up combos to make them damage positive compared to your regular RGB / CYM rotation. But feelings-wise, I imagine having to stand still for 1.5 gcds to do nothing will feel weird if you're not in a boss transition.

I'm still a bit confused about the PCT. I understand each of the systems individually, and I get that during the burst one would want to use the aetherhues to build up the rainbow canon. And I get the instant hammer free movement. But when would one want to use the Creatures in a 2min rotation? They do a lot of damage so at least they have to be used during burst, but you have to keep casting them onto the canvas which does no damage. I can't quite picture the rotation like I can for the other jobs.

I mean mudras do no DMG on their own, white mages burn lilies that do no damage to use afflatus misery, sages use their Eukrasian which does no DMG to gain addersting charges, dancers use dance steps that deal no DMG to for technical step etc. There are many DMG rotations that deal no DMG upfront for a payoff later, not new to picto

@@alstermaniac The creature motifs have a base cast time of 3s (before SpS applied). That's quite a lot. Though the Muse after that are instant at least. I'm not saying they shouldn't be used, I just don't know what the rotation will look like. Most jobs have a very linear rotation. SMN is Sol B > 3 legos > Demi B > 3 legos > Phoe > 3 legos and you repeat. Viper seems to function a bit like MNK where combos will depend on what buff you need to refresh, but otherwise has a classic "base combo fills mid-gauge for extra damage, and these extra damage action fill the 2min burst gauge". It's that linearity - which might not exist at all for PCT > that I cannot picture (pun intended).

@@WildCatMiyuu oh I see what you mean, I mean without reading the potencies and full tooltips how can you know. Either way the balance will literally have it optimized within hours of release

I was not impressed with Picto initially, but after seeing these gameplay vids and all the action you get into, I'm sold on it. Debating taking it through as my 7.0 class to 100 :)

I officially have a new main lmao I have been a SCH/SMN main since 2.0 launch. Now I’m going hardcore PCT. It just looks super, super fun. The animations are gaudy yet beautiful. The cartoony style has definitely grown on me. The Rainbow Brite reference too?? Totally in love. I cannot wait for the job quest

picto looks sick, yet thinking of art and color immediately make me wonder what modders will do with this class cosmetically

I can easily see people recoloring the ink effects of Byakko's weapons to replace PCT's brush strokes, and just making the attack effects more HD. Also Doodlebob. If I DON'T see someone replace Mog or Madeen with Doodlebob within 2 months of Dawntrail release I will be immensely disappointed at the modding community.

Why does every magical dps in ff14 make my head spin from how complicated they all are. Both new classes are big busts for me and have no appeal. I'm a phy rng main though and hope next expansion I see either a gunslinger with two pistols, alchemist, or blitzball class (which seems unlikely given Yoshi and his cohorts hate blitzball and final fantasy 10 and 10-2 with a passion). Once again a recent interview stating no blitz ball.

When I first heard about Pictomancer, I thought it’d be like that one character from Naruto, whose drawings came to life; _that_ would have been fcking awesome... But turns out it’s the weebiest most non-impactful class to ever exist in the entire MMO genre. It’s like it was made specifically for Lalafel players.
