Ngl, those changes are fire. I really don't like Seraphism's look but it is what it is for getting such a good ability, I guess.

I personally like Seraphism’s utility, but I really hate the forced glamour. At the same time, all of the new 100 skills for healers is basically an admission that the Pure/Barrier (originally the Regen/Shield) split is a complete and absolute failure.

​@@toodleselnoodos6738 SGE never was a Barrier healer, frankly, it just has Barriers as an option for its GCD heals and is effectively a regen healer in a lab coat >Physis is a Regen >Kardia is effectively a Regen that ticks every damage GCD instead of on server ticks >Kerachole gets a Regen upgrade >Haima and Panhaima aren't used like regular preventative barriers, they're used effectively like regen >Holos's pure heal and damage mit are more useful than its incidental barrier (still useful but not the focus of the ability) >Pneuma is a fat pure heal with no shields in sight >Addersgall spenders are all just regular heals/mit Frankly, I think they should just use Regen/Shield as a spectrum rather than trying to split them down the middle. Especially if they wanna keep this game running for 10 more years and add more healers down the line.

​@@ArceusShaymin eh, Barrier healer always felt more like preventative damage healer to me. Sge has a high amount of Mit in the OGCDs.. which is the direction I think they took both Sge and Sch. I mean before this Sch and Astro were the only ones with Mit (ShB is when Whm got wings) So at some point Barrier became mit and shields

my 2 things. for scholar. 1. seraphism is cool and i like it my only worry is the mana costs being the same despite it feeling like something you want to spam. 2. dissipation is just a weird skill for scholars kit and im confused on its purpose. we use it for energy drain spam, but it wants to be used like a emergency heal button thing but idk. Seraphism feels like the better version of dissipation and i just want to see it changed.

Yes, when I first saw it in the job trailer, my hope was that seraphism was a straight replacement/upgrade of dissipation. Dissipation (and freecure for WHM) will never die. :(

While we mainly use Dissipation on cooldown for extra AF stacks, being able to make use of the 20% healing buff for a thick deployment tactics shield is a really nice bonus. You could probably alternate between buffing the shield with dissipation and seraphism.

@@RangerRobin0404 Recitation is just another tool scholar has and completely different from dissipation. If you are deploying a shield you will almost always use recitation to guarantee a crit shield (usually called spreadlo or critlo). To further buff the deployed shield you can use healing buffs like protraction, fey's illumination and dissipation. Whether it's appropriate to use these cooldowns for a critlo will depend on your heal plan. While it's scary to not have your fearie/carbuncle for 30s, you can plan around this by using dissipation when you don't need other fearie abilities like seraph, fey's blessing, fey's illumination etc. Playing scholar well is all about planning. It's probably the most proactive healer from all 4 because most tools need a few GCDs to properly set up. Using dissipation well is no different.

@@MaudeRayne My reply was moreso about you mentioning the healing buff making for stronger shields. While I know both Dis and Recit can make for bigger shields (which is why I had mentioned bigger meatier spreadlos), the number of ways you can make shields bigger in general, and Dissipation has it's own uses and is a part of playing SCH, I was more commenting on the differences between the two skills (especially with the new goodies in DT). To my knowledge, you can't buff Excog with Dissipation. You (obvs) can't have Dissipation active and use fairy skills, but you can use Recitation and fairy skills. The 20% healing buff only boosts the potency of GCD heals/shields, where Recit can be applied to non GCDs. Both are good skills with their own uses and best uses.

For being the HW capstone for SCH, Dissipation is very underwhelming of a healing buff. You lose your fairy and all its utility and get a moderate healing gcd buff and full Aetherflow. For prog, I don't think I've ever hit Dissipation for healing purposes. I also feel that Fey Union and Summon Seraph are just better at healing. Fey Union upgrades Eos's heal from 200 to 500 in exchange for focusing it on one target while Seraph's heals all give a shield and it has an aoe ogcd heal/shield. I fear that the only thing Dissipation is used for is parsing, since it gives 3 more uses of Energy Drain. I think they should rework Dissipation.

I agree. I can count on my hand how many times I've used dissipation, and it's only for the stacks. Something just feels bad about sending your fairy away.

hard disagree. i want at least one button that makes your job harder to work around rather than yet another friction-less job in ffxiv. you use it when you can, and that's fine. i've used the buff dissipation gives for both damage purposes and increasing my healing output, and sometimes both at the same time. if you plan your skills out, like sch is meant to be doing, you can utilize dissipation to a really high potential. no faerie required for a while? dissipate. reci+prot adlo deploy on top of all that is one of the best feelings in the game. hell, certain timelines have a really crazy line-up with dissipation, such as getting a boosted deploy for the start of nidhogg in dsr, or boosted deploying before dissipation fades in top p2 so you can get a crazy deploy on top of using all your faerie's mitigations. and while not the greatest at it, especially with seraphism coming, it does allow you to change course during prog to try to save a pull. 20% increase on a succor shield is a lot, and can save your team when you're going to be missing mit, or you have to triage too much, and need stacks for soil/indom instead of saying "this skill is bad, rework it" instead actually ask yourself if you're utilizing it correctly, as there certainly are a multitude of applications for the skill

@@MidoriGrey Baneful Impaction is *Stormblood* Shadowflare. What people are asking for the return of is the permanent one you cast. Now, I personally disliked a GCD that has to be ground-targetted, but I definitely agree with the sentiment that we should get our ~7 DoTs back rather than spamming Broil endlessly *again.*

yeah; still not feeling that weird angel bath robe form. Could they not have come up with something cooler/more on brand for SCH? also still strange to tie our new AoE DoT behind Chain Strategem. Makes me wonder if they decided to do that because they were looking at its usage in dungeons and thought they could get players to use it on more than just bosses?

I was thinking the same. It feels weird to use Chain Stratagem on adds between bosses cuz it barely has any impact in those situations, so it feels like a skill thats meant to be used when the entire group is focusing their strongest skills on one single target, so what you said makes sense, probably it was meant primarely to give SCH players a reason to also use Chain Stratagem on big add pulls.

@@BaghNakh1 probably would've been better to make a weaker AoE Chain Strategem that shares a cooldown, or maybe even make spreading it cost an aetherflow stack? Either way; its going to be weird even using that in trash pulls lol

After the wound that was done to SMN, it makes me very happy to see one of my book boys knocking it out of the park. SCH looks amazing, and will absolutely be my main healer going into Dawntrail.

I could totally see Seraphism getting an upgrade down the line into something like Invoke Titania or something.

Dissipation is still in the kit. And the jump rope is still the only way to use your gauge? ... Why?

this all feels like some nice QoL improvements for Sch, without losing the strategist vibe that the class seems to be focused on. I still wish I could have a dummy "oh shit" heal or shield right up front the way the other classes feel like they have, but seraphism does a lot for us and our shields already do so much. I like seeing slightly more variety in our DPS, too. I don't think this would have been my choice of design direction, but I feel less forgotten than I did as a sch main in EW.

On the mechanics side, I agree, but on the fluff side, I do feel like they may have forgotten that SCH is the strategist and fairy healer, since the solemn robe and angel wings feel like they'd be a bit more fitting on WHM.

The scholar changes just look so interesting and I'm very intrigued to play it.

I mean for me dissipation is more like everything else failed button like a last ditch effort if people are just taking way too much damage that it drained all of your other resources (cuz it can happend in raids that people just take too much damage some times)

does the transformation into Seraphism just throw out our WoL's character entirely? it looks as if you just become some generic hyur woman on every pov i've seen. extremely disappointing if so.

I just want to vent about how I guessed what SCH's new angel form would do the day that the Dawntrailer job trailer went out. On the third watch I realized a very familiar spell effect, that being emergency tactics. Then piecing that together with how there was a single target heal than an aoe heal shown in angel. I knew that this was a instant cast adlo and succor. Then I made the realization that they were able cast emergency tactics less than its 15CD. Meaning that angel form will give SCH instant cast healing to their GCD heals and have a faster CD on emergency tactics. So happy that I got all that major notes on angel form but obviously couldn't see the regen that this form gives. But that's just icing on the cake.

seraphism is going to be crazy for prog. they better design some absolute bullshit in the eden ultimate so i get to be silly with it

Did anyone realized how emergency tactics make Acession (seraphism succor mode) heal for 672 potency at instant cast, and manifestation (seraphism adlo mode) heals for over 1k potency also at instant speed? also, correct me if i'm wrong, but manifestation should also apply the same type of shield so recitation should make the shielder even stronger than it already is.

if I understand correctly, you can't use recitation during seraphism because adlo changes to manifestation?

I think 3 in total? It was kind of the only way I could get all 21 videos done in 4 days, but i optimized and cut and changed bits that felt like fluff over time

I'm interested to see if they will EVER change how Dissipation works. Its my biggest gripe about SCH and Ive been playing it since HW. The issues with Dissipation only get compounded when they add more and more skilles based around the fairy. Not to mention, there are STILL issues with fairy responsiveness and dropped abilities between Serpah>Eos and vice versa. With DT, we are now at... what... 6? Abilities that we lose every time we hit Dissipation? Not to mention the lack of fairy gauge earned and no Embraces for the whole 30 seconds of Dissipation buff. I might enjoy the 20% healing buff, but when like half of my kit is locked, it feels more like a gamble in prog than an asset. It feels worse to use in places like Ultimates because instead, I have to painfully work around it rather than feeling it's another tool in my arsenal. Sorry for the rant, but you're the only video I've seen that addressed any of these issues. 😢

All I really wanted for sch was the return of Bane. Having to manually target each enemy in a trash pull and toss our one DoT on them is a pain. Now we sorta got it back I guess? Being locked behind a 2 minute cooldown ability really sucks, but I feel like that massive potency needed some kind of nerf. I just miss the days where sch had to manage the DoTs while the fairy did most of the primary healing and we just made that possible with our shields. I feel like they still aren’t sure what to do with the job with the incompatibility issues with things like dissipation.

AOE Dot... I'm happy about that! Seraphism looks crazy too! Don't really like the wings it gives our characters but I think they look better than the WHM wings which are a bit big and goofy when moving around

Also the healing changes sound quite nice to how I like to play, as someone who tends to go healer for most roulettes. It's nice to be able to solo carry healing and to have a button to make that even easier now

I have mixed feelings TBH. On the one hand, I think Seraphism will be a cool skill for progression runs. On the other hand, every other piece of content in the game. I self nerfed my SCH in Endwalker by removing a few healing skills because I think we have too much healing potential that lures us into long down time of monotony and that for me has been the biggest complaint about healers. It is nice to see they've added more DPS skills, but I feel like fixing the monotony problem is going to need something more substantial than a single DoT ever 2 minutes. And the downside of adding more healing potential is that you increase downtime. Though I get there is potential for Seraphism to require you to use fewer of your Aetherflow skills & spend them on Energy Drain to break up the Broil monotony, but the skills I removed were my Aetherflow ones. The healing requirement for most content is so low that Emergency Tactics + Succor is enough to top people off, Fey Blessing is just enough to suffice as an insta heal in certain moments. I keep Excog to hand just in case the tank needs a big insta heal, but the fact I've said "Excog" and not "Lustrate" shows I don't expect it to be frequent. Admittedly, this is for everything outside of Savage Raid, simply because I didn't Savage Raid in EW, I've not since ShB, but then I'm not really in a position to commit to a static & not content that's fun with randos from the PF. On the flip side, I think for your average healer (not saying I am amazing, but I've been here since 2.0 and mained SCH), Seraphism might mean they can broil less too and utilise their Aetherflow stacks for Broil->Ruin II ->Energy Drain as like a rotation almost. So maybe it is positive, but I feel like I'm going to be endeding up with the same/usual complaints.

Now I don't know what healer to main. I was on sage in EW but wanted to switch to scholar or astro for DT. Both seem to be getting really cool skills, I''m a little torn, I might juggle them both at this point

i fucking HATE dissipation. It sucks so much i basically only ever use it during a DPS opener for more EDs or when prog goes south and i just need more Aetherflows and healing power. This ability is literally my most hated ability in the game and i still main the job fuck me

i like it, i am not hardcore/savage player and i use it most of the time in dungeons when a boss only has 5-10% left to get 3 free aetherstacks before the next pull of trash^^

Dissipation to me is....not my favorite. It's the ultimate "oh shit" button because I only press it when, like you said, I'm super desperate. I'm not upset about seraphism locking me out of dissipation with that in mind, because I just don't use it frequently enough to come up against that wall probably.

Yeah, not a fan of the Pet Job deleting it's pet. ESPECIALLY since most people use it for damage. The angel form should have replaced it, and maybe have seraph give full aetherflow to compensate.

I’m very unsurprised by Seraphism. One reason: SCH is the one healer that can’t solo heal through both Zeromus’s Abyssal Nox and also handle Sable Thread. SGE: Abyssal Nox - Zoe+Pneuma, Ixochole, Kerachole, Pepsis pre-E.Prog, with Prognosis spam. Sable Threaf - Panhaima and Kerachole + E.Prog spam solo. Like it’s really unfair how easily SGE can sleep through Zeromus (and so much other content). WHM: Cure III spam for Abyssal Nox. Liturgy of the Bell, Temperance, Asylum, and Medica II for Sable Thread. AST: Macrocosmo + Earthly Star for Abyssal Nox. Collective Unconscious, Celestial Opposition, Neutral Sect and Aspected Helios spam. SCH: I’ve tried, but they just don’t have enough pure healing throughput to handle Abyssal Nox while also trying to handle Sable Thread in Zeromus EX. I’m glad you like the change, but a lot of this feels like horrible design and almost spiteful hatred for SCH players from whichever dev is working on them.

My favorite healer secured it's place...this looks awesome.

I really hope this is a preamble for a future rework of the class in the next expansion. None of these changes make the class less clunky and unfun to play for me.

It's interesting that one of the new things for SCH is a dot. I thought the reason they took so many debuffs and dots off jobs was because the engine had a status effect limit and they wanted to avoid people going over that limit during alliance raids? Does it not stack with biolysis, perhaps?

It’s because DoTs are far less susceptible to crit variance - when you want to consolidate a big potency hit into a single infrequently-used attack, you make it a DoT. Otherwise, you get stuff like GNB’s Double Down which can be as low as 30k to as high as 90k (approximately).

I love that we are getting more tools, but giving us a combo action to our raid buff instead of a normal AOE miasma, like WE HAD FOR YEARS, makes very little sense to me. Sage literally got an instant-cast miasma and we are sitting here waiting 120 seconds.

I loved the new stuff, but WHY IS DISSIPATION STILL THE SAME ??? T^T

Seraphism is either going to be amazing or terrible depending on how needed GCD healing actually ends up being. Though that's speaking strictly from a gameplay perspective because the forced glam looks kinda awful to me and I hope it can be toggled off.

why is a shield healer's pinnacle ability focused on resto healing?....

Because shield healer essentially means nothing when both shield healers have as many if not more regen tools as the pure healers. The level 100 capstones for healers seem to be trying to make them more flexible since Sage got essentially a regen and WHM/AST get shield/mit on their capstones.

To think my first healer ever got such a drastic change for the better... damn. A lot has changed since 8 years ago. Healers are honestly looking so good so far.

How come noone’s talking about the fact that healers will be spamming the same dps spell animation they have the past 2 years, for another 2 years? Glare, broil etc. Upgrades were expansion staples and now scholar and astro will be spamming those same animations with….. one tiny new animation once every TWO MINUTES. That’s so boring man

I like the idea of a super transformation cooldown but why does it turn you into a mid looking angel 😂 scholar’s more about fairies i’d rather it give you cool fairy wings

As someone that raided as SCH as the main on one of my characters, I... uh.... Just don't have dissipation on my bar. At all. Ever. I am well aware for parsing and such it is a pure dps loss, but I REFUSE to eat my Fairy. The fairy stays at ALL TIMES with me. It's just how I am with the job. On the flip note: I... also never have used Recitation outside of Deployment except in 4-man dungeons. It'll be interesting to see how it works out in the raids if the lower CD will matter for me at all. That said, a lot of what I am seeing makes me feel it is a 4-man focused changes to the job, more than the raiding scene as a whole. Baneful just screams 'Make the SCH use chain during Trash, and not just sit on it till the next boss' Recitations lower CD just makes me feel like they want you to more easily shield the tank prior to each pack of mobs. Seraphism I like in concept. However, I am the type to see it more as a 'oh shit, time to bandaid' rather than a proper skill for any point in a fight. Emergency Tactics is already a nearly dead button for me, I am sure I only really used it during P3S for the healer check. I see Seraphism possibly enabling a bit more of mechanics like P10S HH, which I would not mind seeing heavy damage output. That said, we've gotten better bandaid tools before and had few times to make them shine. That said, that could all boil down to just how I enjoy SCH. I love focusing on the shields and the like over the entire raid. I am piss-poor at reacting to the unexpected. As I prog a fight, I start setting in stone when and where I use oGCDs, when I swift out a succor, etc. I literally get caught completely off guard if during regular mechanics the other healer or someone dies and start flailing about in confusion a bit. XD (I am certainly not a great healer, just a passable for the fights.) It'll be interesting to see how the new expansion pushes healing, or if it'll be same ol' same ol'.

as scholar main.... I AM DAMN HAPPY ABOUT THIS!!!! HELL YEAH!!!!! FCK DAMAGE! I WILL MAKE EVERYONE IMMORTAL AND THEY CAN DO THE DAMAGE FOR ME! INCLUDING THE OTHER HEALER!!! i see this as an absolute win.

Dissipation is really a let down for me, the job overal seems to get some nice buffs, don't get me wrong, and seraphism sounds fantastic, but pre 100 this job sounds like like it's an incoherent mess with some nice abilities in between to make it strong. And Chain Strategem single target Crit buff goes into a AOE Dot??? This jobs needs SYNERY, not more power.

I feel like aside from Dissipation, SCH is more or less in sync with itself. I'd like if the Stormblood trait that let you drop the CD for Aetherflow came back and if there were more than two uses for the faerie gauge, but it synergizes well for the most part. It's one of the classes where I think the clunk is more intentional than not in a good way, trading streamlined actions(in some cases) for power, versatility and pull success in comparison with Sage(which not saying that Sage is weak or lacking versatility, but it has a harder time recovering from silliness than scholar does in exchange for a more streamlined approach to healing and more offensive options at base)

Yeah i agree with this. There are great abilities on the job, but ill admit- SCH needs an across the board rework eventually. I think people hear that and think SMN immediately, but one that takes a serious look at those job gauges. Like, why is there an extra barrier for every SCH damage button, but not other Healers?

Nothing changed on SCH gameplay wise. I dont want to broilspam. It has already destroyed 1 controller of mine.

I was a SCH main since HW. And now I am SOOO happy that Pictomancer will be my new main. Because I rly liked the Fairy-academic theme. But now with it becoming more and more angel-fairy-technic something, I just don't get it anymore

I wish they'd decide on the job identity for sch instead of just slapping literally whatever on them, even if it works. Sure, Seraphism may be strong, but it has nothing to do with Scholar, it's a White Mage themed ability if anything.

Mechanically speaking, I'm quite happy with scholar being a jack of all trades healer (although it is the master of regen, regardless). But if we're talking "identity", the job quests imo failed to provide a scholar fantasy at all. Considering how many times we have to fight in libraries, you'd think they'd have focused more on that then on random Nym and voidsent themes.

@@TenzaBurabura i figure the whole thing with Voidsent and Nym are meant to give a sense of being a historian and studying these ancient creatures and their war tactics to improve your combat skills. at least, that's how i feel about it. i like Seraphism because it makes me think the WoL got smart enough to DIRECTLY harness the power of angels after studying the seraph summon lol

You can tell how many healers here never even saw a reaper in their life when they're all complaining about the visual change you to your character. It's such a non issue lmao no one cares how you look when you're supposed to be doing mechanics
