This is what I love about XIV and I loved too back in 2004-8 in WoW

We have a new player in our FC that only joined a few weeks ago and came from a long WoW stint, he can't believe how mature and respectable the community is in FF14 compared - the GMs in WoW would send you to the block without hesitation but yeah seeing this it's good to know being reasonable is encouraged.

Damn! I've been playing this game for about 2 years now. Started shortly before Endwalker was released. The GMs here don't seem to play when it comes to issues like this. The GMs in WoW could seriously learn a thing or two, but is it really necessary to drag you into a jail cell and talk to you?

The way it works, and I've spoken to some people who have known or encountered people that get punished, is long term bans aren't seen as effective. All they do is encourage people to play really rough and anticipate an eventual new account. That doesn't reduce the chance of someone reoffending. Also some people just don't care if a bot bans them. It's a machine. They just move on because it's not a person they're offending or being punished by so it doesn't matter. This game, Instead, forces you face to face with a person, another human. Most bullies or people I know who would deserve something like this will basically crumple into a ball if a PERSON confronts them of much higher standing rather than a bot or equal level player. It's like being scolded by a parent or teacher. It won't work for all, but tends to nail the point much closer. It's a form of personal intimidation which seems to definitely be effective. In addition, the game uses a point system on your account. Sorta similar to points on a driver's license. They have a half life which slowly burns down until they go away. The more serious the infraction the longer it takes. If I recall some can be 6+ years for the most extreme infraction. Having these will change how the GM interacts as they're aware of your point count. Accumulate too many and THEN you get hit hard with the bat. The idea is you're not encouraged to detach from your account and make alt accounts and the like. Their goal is to teach a lesson.

I got sent to jail for at least a day for shouting someones real name in FFXI. She reported I was harrassing her. She got caught being in 2 end game LS, and she was bad mouthing me to the LS to keep from getting kicked. We both got kicked from LS.

I'd imagine they have a stock macro they just activate for a certain violations, haul them in, hit the macro, let it play, issue punishment, repeat. Seems easy enough using the "/say" & "/wait" commands. this guy perhaps even had emotes in the macro. Just imagining the mods at work have to go off a certain script.

Always love coming to these videos after I report someone for harassing me. Also, that was so ominous how you rotated the camera around and then the GM was standing there on the next cycle 😂

That's 100% wrong. Players constantly troll in dungeons and force party wipes all the time, then if you say something you're the toxic one. Most of the players in this game are genuinely bad. I told the GM to check my logs and such, then they pretty much didn't give me a warning on my account. I told them that I barely speak to other players due to me being reported by people who can't take criticism or advice. The GM then apologised, and sent me back to my home point.

@@WardenOfTerra well ive done about 200 to 300 dungeons in ff14, tanked. and ive only Come across 2-3 ducebags. Thats a record if u go after wow standards (tanked wow many years even in shadowlands) so im happy The job The GMs are doing stoppning People from harrasing others that just want to play The game. Ive noticed a increase in ff14 of People with less patience and are complaining that u should pull more and have ants in Their pants to finish dungeons, and still dont know what they are doing. But thats just The way it is playing with People from diffrent ages and coultures. But The thing is to tollarate and be chill about it, toxisity spread more toxisity. U never win an argument online, it just gets worse. There is ways to politly help People in games like ff14, and I would say they are doing a better job then most to keep toxisity down. I have no idéer how u experice The game, but for me i havent meet anyone spillning racial blurs, flaming anyone or beeing an ashole yet in ff14. But in other games i have alot, and its Nice to play ff14 when its so cleared from iresponsible, non patience ducebags 😍

The tradeoff is that if you say anything in chat beyond "hi" anywhere in the game you can get a permanent strike on your account that leads to a permaban. It's why nobody fucking talks in this game and nobody knows how to play; giving advice is literally against the TOS clause about not "compelling a playstyle".

And to be honest in the time i spendt in The game it hasnt been any argument (more then mentors r trying to correct etchother) or shit talk like wow, lol or any competetive game. And getting rid of Toxic People is a good thing, not a bad, even if u think u have The right to blurr racial, sexual, Toxic slurs maby other People feels that offencive 🤗 and hopfully The GMs can see what kind of People they want in The game. GM's don't instantly put you in prison. Somebody will have reported a toxic comment he made in a dungeon in a previous run. Players are genuine snowflakes in this game.

That's not someone being a snowflake, that's someone following the rules in place to make the game a better place for everyone. Now if someone reported a comment that you _didn't_ think was toxic, then that comes down to a difference of opinion and I could see why you'd be surprised then, whether you're right or wrong.

Am currently in GM gaol and have been in there for the last three days. I said "ur mom" in Grid shout chat. Somebody got pissy and reported me. I'm not allowed out for another four days. I have NEVER been contacted by a GM before this. Not once. Never had a strike against my account. Nothing. This was my first incident.
