The different kind of costumes come from the history of the Band ... Peter aka Hauptmann was so fed up with all the bands and musicians taking themselves MUCH to serious and started Feuerschwanz to have fun ... and make fun of the other bands and the different costumes are part of that fun. (since some Bands try hard to match outfits etc) Former members had even more ridiculous costumes ... for example Eysey, the former bass player, wore just rags ... literally a potato bag ... and an iron mask. And Johanna/ Stephanie (violin and hurdy gurdy) dressed up as a man.(fake moustache included)

Never thought through the costumes, I guess there are different reasons. They started as a parody band (and kept a mainly humorous attempt mostly ) so the miss-match may be on purpose, their stage characters represent different "ranks" so a captain would clearly be dressed different than a squire, the middle ages lasted for about 1000 years so if we assume they are from different time periods there might be a change in styles over time, they have to be comfortable enough to play their instruments (I guess the drummer would have problems to do so in a full suit of armour) and, most important, it must look cool on each of them. The more epic style (like in this one) is shown in Ultima Nocte (Latin for The Final Night), Das Elfte Gebot (The Eleventh Commandment) and I See Fire (Ed Sheeran cover, preferably the live version featuring Angus McFife aka Thomas Winkler [green armour guy from Warriors of the World United]), the relaxed / fun style with Metfest (Mead Feast), Kampfzwerg (Battle Dwarf), Untot im Drachenboot (Undead in the Dragon Boat [that one and Das Elfte Gebot were the previews at the end of the video]) and the silly side with Dragostea Din Tei ([known as the "Numa Numa song] cover of the 2004 dance hit by Romanian boy group O-Zone), Ding (Thing, Seeed cover [Seeed is a German based multi-national reggae/dancehall/hip-hop group]) featuring Melissa Bonny and Schubsetanz (Shoving Dance / Pushy Dance, referring to pogo and moshing) standard version from 2018 and black metal version from 2020. Edit: the pronounciation of Düsseldorf was really good!

The different Outfits are simple. Everyone wears what they like. Just like on the street. Of course they play a "role" so they dress up accordingly, but each of them dresses the same every time. Like a certain costume you once had and you wear it because it's the only one you have and all of a sudden everyone associates the costume with you, so you keep it. Same with Superheros. Batman or Superman always look the same. The style changes a bit over the years but it stays always as recognizeable as before. If this makes any sense?

You are on the right track, friend of Gigi. I agree with BaMoBaddy70, nothing to add. Note: I see a lot of reactions, but you do it really well.

Concerning outfits, they were fed up with German medieval folk scene which is kinda big/significant here taking themselves too serious. So they wear ridiculous non matching fantasy LARP gear that would be looked down on. At the same time I believe several of them are actually into cosplay and this scene. So in essence they wear this stuff like you would for medieval markets or LARP events, just intentionally cheap, bad or mismatched to not take things so serious. All their artistic names are also lewd word plays on German historic sounding names. I would say their old stuff was far more parody, but musically not up there, but they now evolved musically a lot while still not taking themselves very seriously. Case in point is their albums usually have some cover in it where they interpret some other genre hit as medieval folk metal. Their last cover was a 90s European dance hit they promised to do for a laugh when their album hit #1 in germany to celebrate.

Fun band. Solid songwriting and great live. Many good songs. Did you know the band 'eluveitie' from switzerland? Great folk death metal. I recomment the song 'rebirth'. You gonna like it.

Greetings from Düsseldorf :) Feuerschwanz's Memento Mori is my favourite album from 2021. And you basically get two albums for the price of one, as one half of the album are purely originals and the other half are covers (including Warriors of the world united). If you want to check out Rammstein's "Deutschland", I recommend doing some research about German history first, as the music video is full of hints, metaphors and mentions of German historical events.

You should really try to translate the lyrics. For once they are really good, and when you listen to the lyrics the music in the verses isn't that important. It serves as a calmer background to the story he has to tell.
