    6 months ago we bought a fabric squeaky duck for our ferret. Thought she liked it.....Thought she was playing. Today she showed us she DOES NOT like it , and she relentlessly attacked whomever squeaked it. Namely me. She tore me up today. And she never bites ...UNTIL today with the squeaky duck. So word of caution with some squeaky toys and some ferrets. She now associates me with "bad". So I have to win her back. Just a word of advice and caution.

  • @MarkSavides

    @MarkSavides

    3 жыл бұрын

    I have had 2 female ferrets that were like this. it is squeaky toy aggression. The best explanation is they are trying to protect the toy, as she thinks you are hurting it. My 2 would run up and attack the dog if the dog was making the squeaky toy squeak. There is one advantage to this. If they ever wondered off or hid and were in deep sleep the squeaky toy would drive them out so we can find them.

    If you have a shed, you might consider leaving food in it to attract live mice which your ferrets could then hunt. And if one's house or apartment has mice- definitely get a pair of ferrets.

    Maybe but the difference is I’m pretty sure these are feeder mice telling by the white coat color which is a lot safer cause you know where your getting them from and it’s a less of a risk of your animal contracting a disease. Also not to mention if other houses near you use rat poison which can pass onto then ferrets.

    Most ferrets will eat in a corner because it's part of their natural instinct. They would hunt their prey and bring it back to their den. Mine get kibble and if they're both awake, they'll take pieces one at a time to different corners and once they have a pile they'll munch away. But if one is sleeping the other will just eat straight from the bowl.

    my ferrets never cared for the norway rats, they just did not care for the taste of them, but I would never give them live norway rats, as the can defend themselves and cause damage to the ferrets. I gave them ASF rats and they liked them. all other whole prey they were fed were prekill. as the ferrets got older they lost their ability of performing a quick clean kill and from then on they were always fed prekill.

    Live feeding is dangerous for the ferret plus you're not supposed to feed mice as food regularly

    you need to start feeding them live mice. ferret's don't get mice out of fridges in the wild. It's in their blood it's instinct they would prefer over a mouse out of the fridge not moving.

    Ferrets don't live in the wild, they are domesticated and so are the mice in my fridge.

    Ferrets don’t live in the wild and if you fed your ferret a live mouse the mouse could attack and hurt the ferret. I recommend feeding them dead mice so they don’t get injured it’s just too risky

    Lol. These people never heard of a black footed ferret I guess. And I've seen a video of wild baby ferrets once. People also train ferrets to hunt...so to say ferrets can't is wrong. Just depends on how you raise them. My fat lazy ferrets definitely couldn't at instinct haha. Maybe the baby I have since he's still spunky and ready to bite, but not my older ones who are very much acclimated to domestic life.lol.

    I get your point, but these ferrets were not raised to hunt in the wild. This guy already did a good job transitioning his ferrets from kibble to raw meat

    Alana Churchill mice and rats are the best for ferrets. They are strictly carnivores and mice/rats have every potential that a ferret needs in them ;)

    Carnivores need more than what proccessed foods can give. They need heart and organs. Also fur and skin help push things along. They need bone as well. Those things are not found in human baby food.

    Alana Churchill what's the difference between mice and chicken. They are both living creatures. These mice haven't been processed like baby food so they are better for them
