    Proper mechanical engineering, served my time as a mechanic over 48 years ago where we had a machine shop for doing all the stuff we see here. Hats off Lou to a proper tradesman who actually shows the skills needed in a rebuild such as this, all the best mate from Bonnie Scotland, can’t wait to see the finished ferrari, you deserve a masterpiece.🤓👍

    It's a while since I had one of these, but that front grill looks exactly like mine, and that was original Ferrari! It was just roughly interlocking aluminium strips.

    The machinists in the audience won't cringe at your machining skills, but I'm sure a few will have to look away when they see you using the gear cover of the lathe as an anvil :o keep up the great work!

    For your auxiliary lighting dilemma, from the factory they came with either Carello fog or pencil beam lights depending on the market. If the Carello's aren't availble , another good choice would be Cibie 75's. They're about the same size as the factory lights and are excellent quality - I used to use Cibie 75 pencil beams on my old sports cars. The front light motor looks exactly like the one from my '79 FIAT X1/9.

    Nice job on the bushings. On my Mondial, the ends of that pushrod are plastic and break fairly easily. That doesn't make them any cheaper to buy, though, lol.

    18:40 Am I the only one who went "PING" when you were putting on the circ clips with the pliers? lol...cuz that's usually what happens when I try and install them that way hahahah That's why if I need two I buy TEN! 🙂

    Once again Lou finds the practical solution to the problem. The 308's given the time period they were built can sometimes be repaired / restored with common sense and without recurring to expensive Ferrari OEM parts. .. Apologies to the purists ;-)

    Canada converted to metric on the 70's when I was in grade school, so I got to learn both. But primarily Canada is metric.

    Hey Lou...the "turn buckle" for the headlight lifter is exactly the same as the Fiat X19 and therefore a fracion of the price....I am just catching up on your channel and fully realise that you may have already sorted your yours ....soz.......but this may help any other 308 ers who have siezed turn buckles.

    There is a company that will cad cut repetitive parts that assembled together from your info. If you needed to build a new one. DeBoss Garage used them I believe. If you need info I will try and located.this opening reminds me of an Avanti.

    When I say siezed turnbuckles they were stuck rock solid...didn't see on your vid if you actually tried to adjust them.....Another possible gotcha ?

    The bushings were worn out on mine but not seized.

    @@LouTrottier I was referring to the threaded adjustment which has the lock nut in the end. Mine looked fine until I tried to adjust the the length slightly. on the it was these items that were seized. Was just wondering if you had tried to adjust yours and it may be worthwhile just trying to make sure they move ok now.
