Ferrari 250 GTO '64 build by Roelofs Engineering - Nicky Pastorelli OnBoard, V12 EPIC Sound at Imola

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

I had the pleasure of filming this 1964 Ferrari 250 GTO built by Roelofs Engineering, a Dutch company with over 40 years of experience in the restoration of prestigious Italian car brands, Ferrari in the first place but also Alfa-Romeo and Lancia. Calling it a "replica" is somewhat reductive and does not convey the idea of the majesty of this project. To reach the car you see, in its incredible current state, identical in all to the original (except the construction period), 20 years of slow gestation were necessary. The perfect reproduction of the chassis, the hand-beaten sheet, everything has been faithfully reproduced, even in the smallest details. Ten years have passed since the car was completed and in this period, fortunately for all of us enthusiasts, it was entrusted to the driver Nicky Pastorelli. With him behind the wheel, the car takes part in some of the most beautiful classic cars races on the track every year. The video you see refers to the 2018 Motor Legend Festival at Imola circuit. In 2019 I had the opportunity of seeing it again run on the Nurburgring circuit during the AvD Oldtimer Grand Prix. We have to thank Mr Pastorelli and Roelofs Engineering's staff for providing us with some onboard footage.
I have to thank my friends and KZreadrs:

Un grande grazie all'amici e KZreadrs:

This is MY kind of drifting! Gorgeous car. I went to that Dutch dealership in the 90s. The view looking down into the shop was mesmerizing. My stepdad who isn't into machines of any kind was moved by the experience. There was a whole corner filled with gems like this in various stages of repairs. I think it is the coolest thing we ever did together! Edit: this guy is smooth!

Thanks for this memory that you shared and I understand your admiration, that place must be magnificent, they restore cars of high economic value and prestige in an excellent way. The driver, Nicky Pastorelli, drives this 250 GTO in many European circuits, takes part in the races for vintage cars. He's very good at making the car dance from one corner to another and as you can see he's fast too. I also love the synchronization of the perfect gears 😉👍

I am glad to see exciting and beautiful cars like this (and the various Cobras and GT40s) recreated and used the way the were intended rather than being limited to a few priceless originals sitting in a museum some place.

The other original cars sitting in museums could be quite saddening. But at least there were still many historic racers who own and competitively race original cars, regardless of their value. You'll be surprised with what how they sometimes use their cars, and what these old cars are still capable of doing. For example, in 2012, a German collector drove his 1933 Alfa Romeo 8C Monza from Dusseldorf, Germany, to Goodwood in the UK for the Revival race meeting, won the race he entered with the car, and afterwards, drove it home again!

I've always preferred the '64 body GTO over other GTOs. And I also like the fact that you mounted the onboard camera in such a way that that's what you're going to see if you're 1) a passenger or 2) driving a RHD GTO '64 (of which there is one, owned by JCB) On a side note, who here found themselves mimicking the drivers movements while watching the video?

Hahaha, your final question made me smile because it's true, looking at the onboard; I identified myself driving. I certainly wouldn't be able to drive the car in such a fast and pleasant way, but it's nice to dream...😅 I love both versions, the one from 1962-1963 and this one from 1964, the GTO is an authentic piece of art. As for the onboard, I wanted to install my cameras, but the pilot and the team told me they had theirs. They sent me the material you see, and I agree, the position of both is perfect. Viewing the rear clip is an unusual but wonderful thing. Also, I don't know if you've noticed, the rear camera audio is fantastic 👍
