Ferrania Film Now Available!

Ғылым және технология

Christmas in September folks! Ferrania film is now available for order via the companies Kickstarter Project.
This Kickstarter is for the first batch of Ferrania. This will be a 100 ISO chrome film - a re-engineered version of Scotchchrome which was the last film that Ferrania made before going under.
Help bring this company back by buying yours today. Available in 35mm, 120mm, 8mm cine and 16mm cine.
As I mention in this video, this is your chance to put your name in photography history by getting Ferrania through this first run. You can find all the details below:
www.kickstarter.com/projects/...
Last week we interviewed Dave Bias, Ferrania's marketing guy in New York and did a live Q&A session. The video is here:

    Back in the mid 1950’s my father used to process his own Ferrania colour slides at home. The colour is beautiful, I know because I still have them. It has an aesthetic which has influenced my understanding of colour all my life, and although the new version will almost certainly be different, I applaud what these people are doing. 👍

    As a fledgling italian film photographer, this is very good news. Film is slowly diying, yes, but it's stuff like this that will keep it alive for the community that matters. I've pledged for a 35mm roll. This is going to be my very first reversal color film, it's going to be weird, and kind of terrifiyng (dat tight exposure latitude), I just hope that i give this film the respect it deserves. I'm very glad that you covered this Ted : )

    Great new! I've been using Rollei films recently, since I can't afford Kodak tri-x anymore (the price of a 100ft roll reached 12,000 yens in Japan - while it was 6500 a few months ago). I'm wondering what kind of film that Ferrania's gonna be.

    Very cool, and it looks like the project will get funded. Ted, you mention wanting to get some of the 8mm. Curious, I guess you'd send it out for processing and scanning, so you can have a digital video file, or what would you do with it? If you did take it digital, it'd be fun to see whatever you shot posted here on youtube.

  • @theartofphotography

    @theartofphotography

    9 жыл бұрын

    kauxkaux Its an E6 film. C41 is negative, E6 is a positive "slide" film. There are labs still like Dwayne's in Kansas you can mail it off too or you can do it at home. To confuse you more, you can develop this in C41 - its called cross process. It results in color shifts and has an interesting look to it.

    Who uses slide film anymore? I seriously doubt you could keep that production going as whilst you initially might have good sales the novelty wears off. Colour and B&W negatives are the way to go. I wish that Nikon would relaunch the 35mm FM2N fully manual camera. Ted, please ask Nikon to do that.
