    If think the Geddy Lee model has the same 70s bridge pickup placement (closer to the bridge than the American Pro) as does the Markus Miller bass.

    Great demo. I love the Geddy Lee USA. My friend's got one, and it truly Rocks. I would definitely check the Flea versus Geddy bass. I've played both, and they are both sick axes. Been trying to decide which one to add to my collection. Thanks for the video!

    Yeah, I instantly bonded to the USA Geddy. The back of the neck is oiled, per Geddy's own personal specs. The white blocks on maple can be a little challenging at times when the lighting isn't good. But it is a righteous J-bass by any measure.

    I have the USA Geddy Lee bass and mine also has the area around the back of the neck that feels less finished, so it's definitely intentional. I had been wondering about it myself but you've basically confirmed for me that it's by design. So thanks! I love the bass, by the way. I was lucky enough to get a limited edition crimson red version; there are several vids on my channel where I'm using it, if you wanna check it out. My only gripe with the Geddy Lee bass is the reverse tuning heads. It always takes me a second to remember to turn them the other way to tune. By the way, you're a phenomenal player!

    C.M. Willett,...oh ok C.M,...you have a "RARE" one indeed. I didn't know that those pickups were that 'HOT" and "STRONG!". Blew my head off! (Lol!). Going to check you out in about 15 minutes. Thank for your nice comment. I highly appreciate it. Your gonna mess around and make me look for the "GEDDY LEE" color you have. I like that one. oh yeah! That one is a "KEEPER!!!!". Certainly intriguing! Thank you for this wonderfully produced and presented video! I just got my first bass on the 26th - a wonderful Squier Jazz with the Rumble 15 amplifier. That bass is wonderful for the price, which got me thinking what American Fender should I purchase when I advance in skill and earn enough money? Definitely the Geddy Lee. Appears to be the best American Fender besides the Elite series.

    Ethan Pearson,...hey!,...pump your brakes. If your just starting. Down the road, you'll find what your ears and hands like. It might not be a "FENDER". There are plenty of other bass companies that will turn you on, besides "FENDER". (I'm just saying). Examples: Ken Smith, Fodera, Sadowsky, LowEnd, Roscoe, Fender of course, Lakland, Warwick, T BASS-Trace Elliot product, MTD, Ritter, Gibson, Mike Lull, Bossa, Bacchus, Warrior, Willow, for some of your "HIGH END" great sounding basses. Then you have middle class basses as well. Ibanez, Carvin, Skyline Laklands, Mexican Fender Jazzes, Swing Technology MTD,, Bacchus, Dame, Sire/MARCUS MILLER, Cort etc. Then your cost effective basses. Squier, SX, Cort, Crafter, Ibanez, Maestro, Smash etc. Now, some of these "COST EFFECTIVE" basses do sound better than the "HIGH END" ones as well. Fall back a little bit. You'll develop a feel, ear and taste for what your body likes. 😀

    11coopbass Cooper I love Squiers and Fenders. Ibanez and other companies make great basses but aren't exactly my style. I could be biased since most of my favorite bassists use Jazz basses. How long have you been playing bass?

    Thanks for finally checking this one out. Small correction: there is something on the back of the Professional neck, it's actually a satin finish. For me personally, it's pretty smooth and I can slide up and down it with a lot of ease. I've never tried the Geddy Lee and it's hard for me to judge without a direct recording. They're different basses in many regards: different pickups, the Pro has a modern C neck while the Geddy is 70s. I wouldn't say the Pro build is cheap at all, it's just a lot of modern refinements while taking some weight off. I'm using mine (rosewood neck) with a Sadowsky preamp and Dunlop Marcus Miller strings. Sounds pretty damn good.

    silverdroid,...never taking away from this bass. The thickness of this bass is thin. (BODY) wise. I have over 200 basses as we speak. This bass to me, feels like one of my cost effective "SQUIER'S", in size not quality. Silk finish huh? Ok. I'm ole "S'kOOL!". That polyurethane neck has been around forever. The comparison is to see which pickups an individual like best. Now,... before you went "SADOWSKY" preamp in that bass, you should have gotten you a "GK!" MB115 set that combo flat, tweeked the booster knob and set that active/passive switch to passive. Went out there and did a gig. Sadowsky wouldn't have a chance. I'm just saying. Lol! I'm just saying. 🙌

    I'm using a Fender Rumble 200 which also has a 1 x 15", but I know how particular you are to those GK amps. I'd still be up for trying one flat. I got the Sadowsky more for the Marcus Miller character.

    I also have A Fender Rumble 200 Great Amp. Ain't no GK but good enough for this Dude. I just bought another Bass. The Fender Mustang Offset PJ. I love this little Bad Boy! The sound WHOA! Toggle switch. Front Both Back. Reminds me of my Old Gibson 1971 Gibson Slotted Peg head as far as neck and play ability. Might be too small for you COOP!

    Thomas Puzio Sr,... American Professional seems thicker than the "GEDDY LEE". The "LEE" has a Fender replicated "BADASS". That new Professional "HANDMADE" bass body feels like a very low, low cost effective "SQUIER" jazz that come with a "SQUIER" 15 watt bass combo. For $1,500 buckeroos! This thing should feel like a "KEN SMITH". Lol!!!!

    Thomas Puzio Sr,...Geddy Lee is the faster, smoother neck. Plays better. Real talk. American Professional, have different tuning pegs. A standard style bridge. $1,500? Ah,... I don't know about that!

  • @silverdroid

    @silverdroid

    The Pro uses the HiMass bridge which was also being used with the now discontinued Standard series. Geddy Lee uses a "signature" HiMass, but unfortunately lacks the string-through option. You can string through the body on the Pro.

    One thing about those tuning pegs (fluted): I don't know if it's just because of those or in combination with the bridge, but I can slap the hell out of my bass and it hardly ever goes out of tune. The fluted pegs help most for putting on new strings, it naturally forces the windings to develop at the bottom. I unfortunately didn't have much choice when I got my bass, they only had a 5-string American Standard and my 4-string American Professional. Side-by-side, the Pro sounded better, more metallic. Did you notice any difference with the tall narrow frets?

If I’m gonna spend that much might as well get a just get an American model. Ugh idk I like it but not enough
