Fencing Footwork You Can Practice at Home - Beginer Workout (Revised Version)

Beginner Workout:
Exercise #1 - Hold en garde for 30sec. + 10sec. flex
Exercise #2 - Hold lunge for 30sec.
Exercise #3 - Balance exercise right leg out and back 3x left leg out and back 3x
Exercise #4 - Stepping in place 30sec. (15 sec. slow, 10 sec. medium, 5 sec. fast)
Exercise #5 - 1 Advance, 1 retreat 5x; 2 advances, 2 retreats 5x… up to 4 5x
Exercise #6 - Bouncing in place while in the en garde position 15sec.; Bouncing forward and back while in the en garde position 15sec.
Exercise #7 - 3 Sets of 10 micro push-ups
Exercise #8 - 5 squat jumps
Exercise #9 - Lunge and hold for 3 sec, recover back 5x
Exercise #10 - Lunge recover back fast 10x
Exercise #11 - Lunge and hold for 3 sec. recover forward, retreat 5x
Exercise #12 - Lunge recover forward, retreat fast 10x
Exercise #13 - Slow advance lunge, recover back retreat 10x
Exercise #14 - Fast advance Lunge, recover back retreat 10x

    Yep and ballroom dancing will help as well, some people will laugh but a real fighter will understand what ballroom dancing will for your feet, every boxer knows good fighting starts with the stance and feet!

    @@brettliddle4061 ...man I lived in Japan for almost 10 years and I can't believe I didn't do 3 things....Learn kendo, get traditional japanese tattoos and get an original Katana made from the 4th or 5th generation swordsmiths. cost about $6,000 (700,000 Yen) but probably worth double in the USA ! I always thought, I got plenty of time and sadly, time ran out! But I did learn Judo from a Judo-master ( "judoka") from a probably 60 year old, 5'5" Japanese man that could toss 6'+ guys like nothing, low center of gravity is crucial in JUdo, whether you create by dropping your center of gravity or naturally short!

    Brilliant drills for fencing footwork. It's definitely a good workout if you take it seriously. I'll be using this as my main footwork training for now.

    I'm here because I really want to learn fencing. I recently watched a kdrama on fencing and I've been obsessed with it. There aren't any places where they teach fencing where I live, so I have to learn it in my home. I'm planning to move to a place where they teach fencing, hopefully my parents allow me.

    My gun nut buddies get confused when I tell them I've never owned a gun, but used to be pretty good with a sword! 🤣 Seriously, I was in the best physical shape of my life in my 20's when I took fencing classes in college. 30 years later and ridden with sciatica and spinal / shoulder arthritis, I'm hoping that videos like this inspire me to get back to feeling healthy. 👍

    I fenced for a year but it was in my college's club during covid, so I didn't get much practice. I'm kinda out of shape, and I have about 2 months to get better. The practices are 3 hours long and I'm going to 3 of them per week. On top of this, is there anything else I should be doing?

    Will this workout strenghten my leg and knee muscles/tendons/ligaments done on a regular basis ? Iam a beginner (mid 30s) and having problems with the lunge...it's like something holding me back because my legs can't fully support the move ..at least that's what I think

    just want to ask about fencing. I just started fencing at 42 years old and still on my 2nd session. may I know what discipline (weapon) should I do or start? my coach advised me to do epee since he also an epee fencer but I just want your point of view on which discipline should I start based on my age.

    I think Epee is a great choice. Epee is a bit slower then saber and foil and has less rules to learn. That being said I think you should try all three and discover what weapon you enjoy the most.

    DeagleBeagle in fencing you need small, fast and controlled arm and hand movements. The micro pushups will help you develop that.
