My mum served as a lieutenant in the British Army in 1944 - 5 having 'risen from the ranks' they told her if they promoted her to captain she would have to work behind a desk, so they doubled the size of her command, otherwise she might easily have become a lieutenant colonel like this lady.

When everything is said and done, a feature film needs to be, should be made about these amazing women warriors.
