Los Angeles: The Los Angeles Police Department’s West Traffic Division detectives are asking for the public’s help in identifying the driver involved in a hit-and-run traffic collision that severely injured an 84-year-old pedestrian.
On Saturday, May 18, 2024, at 6:35 p.m., a pedestrian was walking on the sidewalk, crossing a driveway, on Cole Avenue just north of Santa Monica Boulevard. The suspect vehicle entered the driveway and struck the victim. The driver fled south on Cole Avenue without identifying themselves or rendering aid to the pedestrian, as required by law.
Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital where she remains in serious condition.
Drivers are reminded that if they become involved in a collision, they should pull over and stop as soon as it is safe to do so, notify emergency services, and remain at the scene to identify themselves.
On April 15, 2015, the City Council amended the Los Angeles Administrative Code and
created a Hit-and-Run Reward Program Trust Fund. A reward of up to $25,000 is available to community members that provide information leading to the offender’s identification, apprehension, and conviction or resolution through a civil compromise.
