Since the end of 2023, the bells c1- e♭1- f1- a♭1- h♭1 [do3-mi♭3- fa3- la♭3- si♭3] are ringing out in St Paul's Church in Fellbach as an extraordinarily interesting mixture of iron and bronze bells.
Until the end of 2023, the bells c1- e♭1- f1- a♭1 [do3-mi♭3- fa3- la♭3] were rung as a similarly interesting mixture of iron cast and steel bells.
➥ New bells were cast in 1927 for the new construction of St. Paul's Church in Fellbach. The Schilling & Lattermann foundry in Apolda produced three iron cast bells [1+2+IV], of which the large "Betglocke" [1] is one of the largest surviving iron cast bells in southern Germany today.
The fact that the parish could not afford bronze bells at the time due to a tight financial situation is immortalized in a lengthy text on this large bell.
A bronze bell from the emergency church was probably still there, but had to be given away during the Second World War.
The Bochumer Verein provided the replacement in 1948 with the steel cast bell [III].
This ensemble rang out for many years as an interesting mixture of iron and steel bells. Presumably also due to the quality of the bells, the replacement of the bells was probably not up for discussion until recently, unlike so many other places in southern germany.
At the beginning of the 2020s however, it became clear that the Melanchthonkirche in Fellbach was to be closed and demolished. The ringing there, f1- a♭1- h♭1 [fa3- la♭3- si♭3] , consists of bells [3+4+5] from the Bachert bell foundry in Kochendorf, which were cast in 1964 with a medium shape.
As the bells were largely matched to the peals of the city church and the St. Paul's Church, this was seen as an opportunity to supplement the peals of the St. Paul's Church. In order to avoid the tone doubling f1 and a♭1, it was decided to remove the small iron cast bell [IV] and the steel cast bell [III]. The bronze bells [3+4] were to take their place. A new wooden belfry was planned for the small bell [5].
This project was started in September 2023 and completed until November. This video shows the ringing of St. Paul's Church in both states shortly before and shortly after the restructuring.
Both the old and the new peal are clearly dominated by the bell [2], which does not have the best intonation. Although this was adjusted when the bronze bells were installed, it is definitely not yet optimal.
The bronze bells give the two remaining, relatively dark-sounding iron cast bells a very beautiful, singing crown of sound. The interplay of iron and bronze instruments is not uninteresting. The enormous tower hall is definitely an advantage for the sound development.

Sehr schönes Geläut.
Ebenfalls ein schönes neues Jahr 2024! Ein sehr interessantes Mischgeläut mit interessanter Geschichte. Mir gefällt es gut. Nur eine Sanierung der Eisenglocken wäre vielleicht noch ganz schön gewesen. Trotzdem ein besonderes Geläut, welches sehr gut und umfangreich vorgestellt wurde 🙃
Aus meienr Erinnerung: Ich kann mich erinnern,als ich 1998 da mal abends vorbeilief und die grosse solo läutete. Der Umkreis von gut 300m um die Kirche bebte. Die grosse hatte da wirklich mehr Wums. Und auch die 2 die ja meistens läutete um 11 und 18Uhr. Ich bin froh dass die grosse Eisendame noch lebt und man sie nicht rauskickte um dem GSV zuzustimmen- Sie ist eine erstaunlich schöne und auch die grösste und tontiefste Eisenglocke im Bereich Stuttgart und weitere Umgebung. (von denen es im Umkreis von Stuttgart nur noch sehr wenige läutfähige gibt-die es' und erstrecht die c' sind die grössten die ich kenne)

Von vorne bis hinten ist diese Präsentation äußerst interessant. Besser hätte es nicht sein können Was aber genauso interessant gewesen wäre, hätte man die Stahlglocke noch läuten gelassen. Das wäre dann wirklich einmal. Aber auch so wie es jetzt ist mag ich das Geläut Ich wünsche guten Rutsch ins Jahr 2024! 🎉

Bellissime. Il battito dei 4 mi ricorda il battito della Mezza ora di Salzano VE e il movimento delle campane mi ricorda quelle di Majano UD 😅
Schade, dass die alte Stahlglocke ausgemustert wurde! Immerhin durften die beiden großen Eisenglocken verbleiben. Die drei „neuen“ haben eine saubere und reine Schlagtonfolge. Insgesamt ein recht schönes Ensemble, allerdings verstehe ich nicht, wieso die Eisenglocken an diesen schäbigen Jochen verblieben sind… Danke für diese äußerst gelungene Präsentation! Und Frohes Neues Jahr natürlich 😉
Sehr schön präsentiert. Dir Stahlglocke hat mir nicht so richtig gefallen. Ich bin kein Freund von Sekundschlagrippe. Die Eisenhartgussglocken sind sehr schön. Sie sind in einer speziellen Rippe gegossen, wie sie Lattermann nicht oft angewendet hat. Die Glocken klingen ähnlich wie die in Falkenstein/V. Am besten gefallen mir aber die Bronzeglocken mit ihrem schönen weichen, singenden und sauberen Klang. Frohes neues Jahr.
Die 2 klingt tatsächlich etwas „geprügelt“, dafür die 1 etwas nach „eingeschlafenem Fuß“… die eine mit etwas weniger Schwung, die Große mit etwas mehr… und es wäre besser. Dabei frage ich mich, ob sie im vorhandenen Stuhl nicht sogar an geraden Jochen läuten könnten…?

Bei der Glocke drei, scheint als würde man ein „Scheppern“ - „zischen hören, wenn sie nach links schlägt … Timecode 2:00 bis ca 3:12 …. Sonnst fällt es mir nicht weiter auf ..

Das kommt vom Klöppel. Entweder rutscht die Schraube hin und her oder Bronzepuffer ist abgenutzt.

@@Antonio-qm3bi On the one hand, the sound character of the bell, and the clapper screw may be loose or it may be that the bronze buffers do not strike optimally.

@@GlockenlandschaftNiedersachsen But that's not a bronze bell, is it? I thought it was made of steel, it has a sound like the Osnabrück ones, only it gives me the impression that it is deteriorated and the rust does not allow it to vibrate freely

Die f' Hört sich ziemlisch metallisch an! Trotzdem tolles Video!
Und warum haben die Glocken noch keine Klöppelfänger, so kann man das Geläute doch unmöglich kontrolliert zum Einläuten, bzw. sofortiges Aufhören des Läutens bringen.

In Ba-Wü kenne ich kein Geläut mit Klöppelfängern,gab es hier auch nie soweit ich weiss.

Das brauchts hier in Deutschland auch nicht. Stundenlanges ungebremstes Ausläuten wie im Rheinland brauch ich auch nicht, aber ein gemäßigt gebremstes Ausläuten ist doch ganz schön..
