SNME was awesome. I used to get so excited when I saw it was on either by TV guide or seeing the quick commercials on NBC. My first real memory of the series was when Hogan wrestled Hercules in either Oct or Nov 1986. I was in 3rd grade at that point. It was a little hard to sneak my way and watch it as a young kid. A year later In Dec 1987 I got a tv in my bedroom and that made it easier to watch as I could close the door, turn the lights off, and put the volume on real low. Hardest part was trying to stay up prior to it coming on.

At the end of the video I talk about the Nov 86 episode with Hogan vs Hercules. It was the first one I saw when it aired.

@@CollectorsEntertainmentNetwork Yes that match always stands out. I also remember that particular SNME was very dark looking on camera or in the arena, at least more so than the others. And the next episode of course was the infamous Hogan Orndorff cage match in January.

Don’t get me started on the Jan 87 SNME with Orndorff vs Hogan cage match. I was all set to record it with my tape all ready and I FELL ASLEEP. I still haven’t forgiven myself for that.

@@CollectorsEntertainmentNetwork I know what you mean. I had similar situation in Nov 1988 Thanksgiving weekend which was Savage vs Andre. It was about 1030/11pm and I said let me just lie down for a bit. Next thing I know I wake up at 2am and I missed the entire show. I was so upset over it.

I wish I could remember when I distinctly became a fan. I know in May 1986 my 8th birthday was a wrestling themed party. Where all the tablecloths, napkins, etc had the wrestlers on them. So my guess is probably sometime in 1985 is when I became a fan. ‘85 when the mainstream really started to kick in with all the TV exposure and merchandise.

Yeah I wish I could remember a moment or something, but I cant. I just have that time frame of late 85 or early 86. I just know I was a fan before WM2 happened.

So there was another jobber appearing on SNME a year later with Steve Gatorwolf vs. King Kong Bundy. That was the SNME right before WM 2. So I believe I am a few years younger than you. In 1985 when the first SNME show happened I would have been in Kindergarten. So my first memory of an SNME show was actually January 1988. It was the show where Andre put his hands around Hogan's neck and choked him out. I was 7 years old then so that is my first real memory of watching an SNME show. I do remember hearing about the SNME shows though on Superstars or Wrestling Challenge from 1987, but I never knew when it was on or what time so I never watched them. I also remember watching the first Main Event just a month later too in 1988 and being so shocked to watch Andre the Giant "defeat" Hulk Hogan for the WWF Title. As a kid, I never thought that Hogan would ever lose.

Thanks for the info about the jobber vs Bundy. And thanks for sharing your memories of your first SNME. Yes seems you are a couple years younger than I am. I would have been in 2nd grade when that first SNME happened. I remember the January 88 SNME very well. I was in 5th grade by then and it was the talk of the school Monday morning. And The Main Event the following month was even crazier. I, like you, thought Hogan could never lose the title. Thanks for watching and sharing!

......Hey, I like the way you have the LJN figure rubber counterparts of the wrestlers you talk about on the episode, right behind you. However, I don't see Paul Orndorff or Ricky Steamboat from the episode in rubber form! Lol, love the channel! Thanks!

Love the wall hanging. Where'd you get it? And damn, you don't live too far from me then. My first one I remember is probably when Savage defended the world title against One Man Gang but I probably saw the one where Savage challenged Honky for the IC title too and turned face before that. I remember my mom taping that first one because we were out of town.

Yeah I was born on Long Island and lived the first 30+ years there. But 9 years ago we (myself, wife, and baby at the time) moved to my wife’s hometown in south Jersey. So that’s where I am now. My sisters still live on Long Island, so we’re up there a few times a year still. Will be up for Christmas.

Oh and Ormdorff wasn't too bad as a face, but thought he was a better heel. Kinda strange he'd team with Hogan at the first Survivor Series after their bitter rivalry about a few months to a year before that. Someone had a comment on another wrestling Facebook group, since SS just passed how funny it was that all of Hogan's partners in 87 were all former heels with Paul also being a former rival. Oh and also I saw recently where Orndorff also fired Bobby Heenan on an episode of the TNT talk show, so anyone that watched that show knew the face turn was happening. It seemed they would turn these guys more than once back then. Vince did the same thing with Sgt. Slaughter's face turn, where he turned at about 3 different televised house shows. I know 2 were the Spectrum and MSG and I believe all were tag matches with his partner turning against him. Plus Bob Orton was always a great worker and so was his son Randy. Nobody is sure if Randy will return from whatever his current injury is, but fans are hoping he can come back for at least one more run. And Ultimate Warrior vs. Super Ninja for the IC title who was a masked Rip Oliver. He was apparently big in PNW and NWA territories, so that was kinda another jobber match.

Never thought about Hogan’s entire team at the first Survivor Series were all heels. Including Hogan. I have to go back and check out the TNT that Orndorff fires Heenan. I think I’ve seen it, but I want to go back and check it out. Thanks for sharing all the other good info. Good stuff!
