So many memories. Being in the UK it didn’t hit big over there until 90 so I missed all this stuff. I loved these Superstar Specials and think I started on 4 or IV as they had it.

Though I was already a big fan by the time this first one came out, I didnt buy any myself until Superstars 3. Then bought the subsequent ones as released. I picked up Superstars 2 from a friend or classmate sometime around 1989 or 1990. But this first issue I didnt get until recently from ebay.

Can’t wait to see your finished Coliseum Videos. Also Bret started as a face in WWF in 84 and 85. And went by Brett. And then the beginning of his heels run with the foundation he went by Brett. Somewhere during that heel run it switched to Bret. Thanks as always for watching!

How the hell does this only have 88 views? Anthony I’m subscribing now. ❤ (just edited, seen it’s only been up 5hrs, not 5 years).

So this is fall of 1986, and the Rock 'n' Wrestling cartoon is in full swing in season 2. Yet somehow, Hillbilly Jim is omitted from this publication? Danny Spivey is in here, Rotundo is in here, but not Hillbilly? Mind blowing! Great video.

Yeah that is strange. Hillbilly was very much still a main guy in WWF at this time.

Oh and I liked that version of the title belt from the cover. That one and the winged eagle. Dory Funk they called Hoss in WWF. Corporal Kirchener, had his action figure for a long time. He was previously a jobber in the WWF called RT Reynolds. According to Wikipedia he died from a heart attack in Siler City, North Carolina, on December 22, 2021, at the age of 64. Yep, just checked, Super Machine was Bill Eadie, who was also previously Masked Superstar and had a hot feud with Bob Backlund at the end of his title run, injuring Backlund's neck with his spinning neck breaker finisher outside the ring. He did some good promos too and was managed by The Grand Wizard until Wizard's passing. Did I mention Moondog Rex was the original Demolition Smash? The role went to Barry Darsow because fans recognized him and chanted Moondog. They were also originally managed by Luscious Johnny Valiant before being replaced by Fuji.

I know they called him Hoss as a nickname, but I think he was billed as Dory Funk. I’d have to go back and check. And yeah i knew about the original Smash and being managed by Johnny V. But thanks

This may be a long shot I'm looking for video of WWF at Nassau coliseum in Uniondale New York on January 30th 1987 specifically the Rowdy Piper versus Adrian Adonis match in which Andre was the special guest referee.

I wish I had that. Sounds like a great card. Unfortunately most of the Coliseum shows were not televised/recorded. I know one or two that were televised on MSG Network, but I believe that was a few years later.

That was Barry Windham and Mike Rutondo not Danny Spivey

Actually it was both. When Windham left the WWF, they teamed Danny Spivey up with Mike Rotundo and kept it the US Express.
