According to Director Peters, the Federal Bureau of prisons uses psychologists to help determine which prison a person with gender dysphoria is sent to. If any psychologist sends a man to a woman's prison or vice versa, they should have their medical license revoked for malpractice.

Because she does, I spent 25 plus years in corrections and several years under her command in Oregon. She will do anything she can to decriminalize and treat them like they are victims. Then try to make the staff feel as they are the criminals. She is amazing at twisting numbers to fit her agenda. She is the biggest lying looser I have unfortunately met. If we spent as much on the victims and getting them the help they need from being victimized they would be more productive, the inmates will Continue to be criminals. solitary confinement is normally for violations like fighting, weapons and drugs. the smu was filled with inmates that came from penitentiary that there points went up from violent crimes, introducing drugs attempted escapees. this was that last step they went to before the adx (aka the supermax). now that the smu has been closed. violence and deaths have increased more than ten fold in certain institutions. staff assaults have also increased and no consequences have really been given to the inmates as normal operations typically occur after these events and inmates are not serving disciplinary time.

Colette Peters did the same thing to the Oregon DOC. She focuses on advancing programs that bring her attention (Legacy Building) and puts very little thought into Security and Safety. The reason Officer positions sit open as they fill non-security positions. The beauty of her implementing policies that are security threats is...she will never be in danger. Only the security staff will be.

If she had been a officer first, she may have a different veiw on how she see, and treats line staff. Spending appox. 5 hours with line staff is really getting to know your staff and show you care. A prison is staffed 24 hrs a day, 265 days a year, you do the math Director Peters, you really care. Also she calls inmates, "Justice Involved Individuals"and uses the term, "Holding their Hands, when helping inmates fill out paperwork for college credits. She makes it sound that inmates are just wonderful individuals. These convicted felons are there for a reason,. They did a crime that so egregious against socity, that they needed to be held accountable. I'll give her one thing, She is a master, at spinning the questions.

There has been a big push to relabel inmates to a more family friendly name & for more training for staff to not send inmates to SHU. I can tell you from experience that the male inmates who were housed at a female prison were in fact having sex with the female inmates. Also, an inmate only has to fill out a form to be labeled a transgender, but the process to transfer to an opposite sex prison is complicated. But I agree with the senators who grilled her. It is a problem when tax payer dollars are being used to appease trans inmates with hormone replacement therapy, & gender reassignment surgery instead of hiring correctional officers. COs are being mandated to work 16 hour shifts frequently & non-custody staff are being augmented left & right. There definitely is a shortage of staff. Rebranding the BOP as some sort of wonderful work environment is a fantasy. The average BOP retiree dies at 59. That’s a fact. It is stressful. It is hard. It changes your perspective on people too.

I’ve worked at a penitentiary for almost 3 years and I’m glad that our lieutenants , captain, one of our AWs and Warden were officers first. It’s ran how it’s supposed to be ran. We have fights every day, there’s a ton of drugs, weapons, I’ve seen staff assaults and overdoses. It’s gotten worse with the abolishment of the SMU because we got a ton of those inmates in since then. It was a mistake to get rid of it. Clearly she doesn’t care about that. Inmates will always be inmates and the way they are towards us will never change. Sure, a small percentage is actually going to get out and probably try to be good in the world but the majority when they get out will go back to doing what they do best. Deal drugs and murder. I know that because I have developed rapport with them and they literally don’t have a choice. If she knew anything about gang politics she would know but she doesn’t. We need a better and more experienced director. We need to start hiring those who worked the line first hand and experienced that.

She's dead wrong about staffing. Staffing is and has been the number one issue in ALL things in the BOP! All of the programs the Senators discussed are essential and run by staff. The prisons have been dangerously understaffed for decades, more severely so in the last 10 years. You will never have safe and secure prisons without enough staff.

THAT is one of THE BIGGEST problems. MANY wouldn't be there if they got the medical needs met they may never have committed the crimes they did, if they did. there are many people who are innocent. That are locked up because the public has no where else to send them. Don't sugar coat it! I almost feel like private prisons are a terrible idea. They HAVE to have people in those prisons to make their PROFIT. So, let's call our cop buddies to surveil people and bust them ANY way they can and boom, beds are filled. This is a huge, HUGE problem. When crime becomes profitable, mistakes and HUGE ones are made. When someone can become a felon with no evidence against them its a problem.

I wish the bop would take the money to figure out how to hire staff and give it to the employees. Another option would be close all the regional offices and put them back in to the institution's to help with staff shortages and day to day operations. The problem with hiring would be resolved.

What was the date of this hearing? I would be interested to know if it was before January 6. Prisons have gotten so lackadaisical for prisoners. This illegal that killed someone in Brazil and then came to America and brutally stabbed his girlfriend Close to 40 times and then broke out of prison and went on the wrong for 14 days costing taxpayers over $1 million a day it’s supposed to go into solitary confinement for a long time As a flee Rask. Prisoners now have smart phones iPads canteen and which they can get televisions radios any snack they want. We now have people committing crimes so they can go to jail and have a free roof over their heads for the rest of their lives. No more living on the streets no more no knowing where the next meal is coming from. We don’t even have enough jobs for our law abiding workforce. Do you know what used to work for prisoners is for them to live out there days of life in prison Mark working hard labor building roads during the jobs that no one else wants to do as they say that the illegals are needed for. These people have become too soft on crime and crime has become rampant. I don’t get it. They can even have the girls come in and service them whenever needed. Safe and humane conditions as if that’s what they gave to their victims. I don’t know how many senators watch TikTok KZread and Instagram but these prisoners are literally going on channels and doing interviews. Or they get their word out to KZreadrs and be like telling them how they literally have drones flying drugs and to the prisons and supplying whatever you need. senators are so freaking naïve especially on the Democratic side. They are all for defined the police release the prisoners and loosen the chains on murderers so I can weasel their way out of them and break their way free. You are dealing with the slickest of the slick! You got biological males wanted to transition and go to female prisons who the hell is paying for their transitioning? Not me! Not the taxpayers? But I guess we aren’t We? How are these policies being changed? Is this some of the crap that the Democrats stuff and has a 5000 page bills that they put before congressional leaders? You people have absolutely nothing better to do than to sit on your ass is in Washington and figure out how to throw away the taxpayer money in progress so far and that our children for 100 years will never recover maybe longer. It’s disgusting to sit in our homes and watch what you are doing and Washington DC.

What Paper pushing warden snitches on his own facility instead of JUST FIXING the problems. None of the people in this entire video has ever had piss and feces thrown on them. They only read doctored reports. This is a sweet version of some white collar juvenile facility. I don’t agree with torture but to make remarks about the professionals who perform correctional duties better than any state, county or city facility and far better than the private companies doing it. Even amidst shortages, low pay grades and being stuck in remote areas of the country.

The treatment, if you want to call it that, to prevent recidivism is addressing peoples spirit. We all have one and there’s a lot that goes on in that realm that has not been studied. However, I recommend that everyone go to a deliverance service. The Catholics call it an exorcism. Everyone of these incarcerated people are struggling with entities. All of these entities can be cast out and 100% healing can take place. As I said, you can watch it happen, and see… Yes, see the difference. There are organizations that do this very thing under the radar, and there are waiting lists of people wanting this help. If people want freedom from their past bad decisions, they can have it. Complete freedom. It’s absolutely amazing to watch. Grown men cry, because any move in the spirit is emotionally intense.
