Augusto I missed you San Diego class last time. I went to Dec 17th and there is no observation option to register for the class. I am a Professional trainer here in SD and was glad to see the Dec date pop up. But I can't register. Can you check into it or will there be no observers? Is there going to be 2 sessions or just the one? Thanks

I wanted to say something in response to the dog training hotdog guy criticizing dog daddy's training method saying it "makes the dog "shut down": 1. If a dog is shut down it won't listen to prompts from the trainer or owner and 2. If a dog is shut down it won't even be engaged enough to show proper behavior. So in other words dog Daddy's dogs are not shutting down they are becoming engaged. And he didn't have to use a hot dog to get that sort of engagement

I recently took on a neighbors German Shepherd because my neighbor became ill and couldn't care for him anymore so he asked if I could. I've watched a few videos from Dog Daddy and this german shepherd was always very territorial and aggressive towards strangers. Now he was okay with me because he had already met me a couple times, but he did not see me in command or fully respected me. There was one day where I walked him, and he got super excited and worked up to go chase a car. I stood my ground and didn't allow him to go chase it, he tried to get out of the leash and tried to pull away and swing away. And when he knew I was the one in control of the leash, he became aggressive and lunged at me. I knew he was doing this to get me to let go of the leash so he can go chase the car, but I knew if I let go, this would not end well, so I held my ground. This became a very dangerous situation quickly and all I could think of was, I need to take control and show him whos dominant. He jumped and tried to snap at me and go for my neck but I would swing him around avoiding bites and controlling his head movements with the leash. I didn't act aggressive towards him but remained calm and very attentive to his aggression. After I saw a window to submit him by grabbing his collar and standing over him.. he then calmed down and submitted. I waited for his anxiety and energy levels to calm down before I started to loosen up the grip. I wanted to let him know that I'm not here to fight and I'm not here to back down either. From this day on, he has become one of the best dogs I ever owned. We are best friends and he sees me as his true pack leader and looks for any command I have taught him these past few weeks. Dog daddy, you truly have saved me from giving him away to a shelter or giving him away to someone else. Through these videos, I study closely about the interaction, body language, and psychology. THANK YOU SO MUCH! You made me a better dog OWNER and a LEADER

See how quickly that dog calmed down in response to a strong confident handler? I love seeing stuff like this. There is no comparison. Dogs raised by people who coddle their dogs can be so neurotic. Especially shepherds!! This was 😍 beautiful. The inclination not to leave her side shows that when he showed signs of fear she very likely comforted him and inadvertently reinforced those fear based responses.

100%; dogs have been bred to follow humans for the last 10,000 years; for some people to think dogs should be given "agency" and not given clear and firm direction is ridiculous. I fosterer a lot of dogs and puppies and they love the obedience training sessions.

Treating dogs like children is the issue. Let them make their own mistake and learn on their own doesn't work on dogs. He said it it is all about habit for dogs, more so than humans although the same applies to us to some extent. We have our intelligence, we can be idealists, we can be creative and risk takers.

Our rescue choc lab had really bad fear aggression for about a year after she came to us at 7 months old. She was always trying to hide behind us when another dog came close. She would start 'warning' other dogs when they were far away. She would raise her hackles, her tail would go all bushy and she would bark like crazy. We worked with her every day until she finally got past it. She is 12 this year and so full of fun and character. She still comes across other dogs she's not sure of but we just reinforce the training we we did all those years ago. We discouraged her from hiding behind us by using a 'reset' command and movement. We found it gave her something else to think about and do rather than panic upon seeing another dog. Never give up on your dog. Training is the key.

If he ever had a truly reactive/aggressive dog to try and handle, he would shit himself. He needs to "stay in his own lane," as the saying goes. Cocker Spaniels, Poodles, and Teacup Yorkies.....lol.

I mean, a dog who isn't properly conditioned to an ecollar and doesn't understand the initial command won't respond to them. It's easier to start with a prong collar because it's an obvious physical connection to you and "speaks" to the dog in a way he or she understands. But ecollars are no more "torture devices" than any other tool. I also have a feeling it was challenging for that young lady to get the timing correct with her corrections with the ecollar. It's a little more intuitive with a prong collar because you have that physical connection to your dog so you can feel when he or she is acting up, not just see it.

He was lost and looking for guidance and direction but no one was helping. This goes for a lot of kids in our community too. This is why I'm scared if they start to regulate training our doggies like they regulate raising our kids.

I remember reading a saying that said....'if you treat your dog like a human it will treat you as a dog'. I think it deciphers into, if you try to coddle your dog too much it will have no respect for you and will run the roost, and you. Alpha is very important in a dogs world and if you can be firm when you need to be, it'll show the dog that it has nothing to be afraid of if it follows the rules.

I rescued a dog roadside. He had been abused and was fear aggressive. I worked with him for a year. He did well except when he had PTSD episodes. He became this reading little guy. I would look in his eyes and it was like he wasn't there. I wish I could have gotten a different ending for him, but I have a special needs daughter and grandkids. I loved my Ember. RIP Ember It wasn't your fault life was so hard.

Excellent. Took the E collar off that a DIFFERENT dog trainer suggested. He explained why the dog is acting a certain way. Augusto knows through his own experiences with dogs that certain behaviors don't need extreme measures like E-Collars. Zak George you should be ashamed of yourself for attacking Augusto. I was here when Augusto started out. I was here before YOU started out. I've seen both of you. If the owners of these dogs thought there was abuse they would have done something and said something.

My dog is not aggressive as in biting but a massive barker! This video is super relatable, my baby is a rescue. I have probably watched almost every DD video, I just wish I had more people practice. She very different being out vs home. ❤

@EmpowerLifeCoach hello. Sounds like your pup is just alerting you? But I'm no expert. I've seen training videos that say you must teach the dog to bark-speak on command, in order to teach them to stop barking with a command. I know the non stop barking can make you 😱 so I hope I wrote this right.
