Simply heart breaking yet gratitude for EMS. Hopefully, the mother gets medical care somehow. 😮‍💨 There are Infant Safe Haven laws in states to prevent children from danger. Ignorance is dangerous.😢

Went to college with Mia. Although I only recognized her and never talked with her, She should already have been a resident if not an attending if she was pre-med. Shame on you AMA for restricting who can become doctors because women like Mia are ready.

Ask her if she’s able to pay rent or food off her checks rn I bet you her answer will shock you! But none of you would dare ask that bc they all know the truth

Can any New Yorker explain why FDNY is present at so many incidents. This had nothing to do with a blazing fire, arson, or gas leak. I could understand subway and car accidents or anything else electrical and combustible but an abandoned baby?? What are they needed for, to water hose the child because of his heartburn and fever.

Because the emergency medical service has been a part of FDNY since 1996.

@@emt5330 Shouldn't it be separate though. It would make more sense for FDNY to have its own dedicated emt service who are specifically trained to deal with smoke inhalations, burns, and electric shocks. Don't make no sense for them to respond to calls involving everything from a drug overdose to feeble old men to a deranged individual.

@jcpenny3606 it does have its own dedicated emt and paramedic service, as you can see in the video. Burns, smoke inhalation, and electric shocks are part of the standard emt protocol. Emts and paramedics not affiliated with fire departments respond to them every day. As far as the question of whether the ambulance service should be separate, I'll just say it depends on whom you ask and leave it at that.

@@3rod3reelfishing19 Yes but that's why it don't make sense, unless the cities and states are tight in budget or prefer to consolidate services for cost cutting or whatever reason. Fire departments should oversee things related to its own subject. In the medical field, there's a generalist (like a family doctor or internist) and then there's the specialists, It's set up this way for a reason.
