Welcome to my take @ The Lake 🦀-so glad you found us! This channel is dedicated to sharing a myriad of creative tidbits & information, new ideas and maybe some different twists on old ones about junk journaling, altered books, glue books, watercolor, and all kinds of other paper crafts related to those things. It’s geared for new junk journalers, but everyone’s welcome to play along. So, please: pull up a seat, find something delicious to drink and let’s hangout for a bit.
PLEASE NOTE: these videos are made for adults by an adult who values strong language (once in a while, that means the use of profanity). As a college English professor & writer: I don’t believe there’s any such thing as a “bad” word 🤓. On the other hand, I do believe whole-heartedly (and am quite fluent) in sarcasm & sass 🦀. You're not going to hear about butterflies & bibles here, but there will be occasional F-bombs & beer references 😎. So, if you're up for it--c'mon in, relax & make sure to keep your sense of humor handy ;0) because #sassygirlscrafttoo

Yeah, I totally forgot to add the little slide show of the new kit: it's really cool...lots of book nooks, all four seasons and a few additional goodies for book lovers. Sorry. It's available on the Patreon page. I'm not sure if I'll be posting to Etsy any time soon (or any time at all, lol).

Oh Ker, You are a kindred spirit to me, I would love to write/chat to you for hours. I love the way you talk about books you read and your use of used books. I am 70 years old, I have MS and I love the movie Dolores Claiborne, The Green Mile, . I have those on Audiobook and though I am not a huge fan of Stephen King, I am gaining a growing like of his work. He is an amazing talent and I am pretty sure I will become a fan soon. I was and am a great fan of L.M.Montgomery and I have read all of her works, including all her journals, several were so sad, what a life she had. I feel that you have been my secret friend for so long, I know that sounds weird…but I love hearing you talk about any subject. Love your work so much.

Awww, so very kind of you to write. Feel free, this is the only form of social media I do, so write/comment away 😉 so glad you're open to "any subject" because I do tend to subject hop 🤦🏻‍♀️ It's so amazing when we can do "deep dives" into the authors' lives. I'm always far more interested in the writer than their stories, lol. What kinds of creative stuff do you do? So glad to have you hear and it's wonderful to hear from you 🦀💜

Bibliotherapy, cafe ! how interesting, I suppose that is the way I have approached my book choices over the years, not so much self help, but traveling around the world via the pages of each book and also solving mysteries. How wonderful we each choose a different genre depending on our own personal style. Love your original book list journal. Now you have evolved the idea, your altered book and personalised digitals are so inspiring, I just know you are going to come back to this time after time. Aww little Bits you look so cosy and adorable 🐾💜

Isn't that a fantastic idea??? I've long believed in the health benefits of bibliotherapy! I'm so looking forward to gathering pics and info on my early books and other favorite reads. You're absolutely right, time and time again I'll be in this book (truth be told, I've flipped through it dozens of times and it hardly has anything in it, but I love it so!) Hugs n lotsa love to you and Freddie 💜💜💜

Hey hey there Ker! 💚💜🖤 I love your book journals, both your original and also the altered book. Reminded me that I had picked up a couple of journals 1/2 off at Barnes and Noble that I had meant to keep track of my books I’ve read this year…. totally forgot about them lol! Love the way you clipped out books that you want to read and tucked them in the pocket. That free “Book Page” pamphlet libraries give out is perfect for that, I often trim out books I want to remember to read as well. Oh adding in pages for each season is SUCH a great idea, love that! Your cozy reading nook images are lovely, I wish I could transport myself to any of them and just spend a whole day lost in a book. “The Novel Cure” sounds like an awesome book, and now that I’ve looked it up it seems the author has all kinds of wonderful offerings. Just ordered 2 used copies lol! Thank you so much for sharing all of this with us, so inspiring. Sweet lil Bitsy looks oh so comfy indeed! Sending you and the wonderfully snuggly Miss Bits lots and lots of love and hugs from Sophia and I! 🐶✨💕🌈🍄🐉

Oh yes! Big fun. You've all kinds of things going on and to look forward to, that's awesome. I just took a Book Page survey online (they asked! lol) For years that's where a good deal of my reading suggestions came from, however the last year or two, I've found NOTHING. The survey made me realize why: they're far more concerned with "inclusivity" and making sure every kind of book under the sun is "represented" they've lost focus of their original goal: suggesting really good reads. Two very different outcomes. Ahhh well. I've been on the prowl for "just the right reads" and I feel like Goldilocks: nope, next, nahhh, not this one, nope, not that one...🤦🏻‍♀️🙄 I'm with you, I'd love any one of those nooks, or EVERY one, one for each season. Ahhhhh....yessss. It would be fabulous. Thank you so much for hangin' out here a bit. Nose-in-a-good-book hugs and love to you and the sweet Sophia!

I started out reading Stephen King in the mid to late 70s but then he got a little too weird for me. I never read Dolores Claiborne so I looked the audio up on Libby…12 people have it on hold. I’m going to the library today so will check the book out. As a queen of multitasking I prefer to have my books read to me while I craft but this will have to do. I LOVE your altered book and those images of cozy spots to read are yummy. I wish I had some images to send you but I’ll keep an eye out. I love it when I see someone come up with another topic or theme for a journal/altered book that I’ve never seen before and you nailed it! ❤️tfs

Just finished Dolores Claiborne. What a page turner…I couldn’t put it down! I imagine the audio would’ve been nice to listen to but I didn’t want to wait. Thanks for the recommendation…I second it.

That's awesome! I think what I loved about the audio version is the narrator's embracing all of Delores' quippy funny phraseology. So funny, just comes alive. But it's a GREAT story no matter how one consumes it. So glad you enjoyed it. You're a FAST reader, wowzer. More to envy 🤓

I can’t imagine not liking to read, not judging but I just can’t wrap my head around it. If someone doesn’t read, and they don’t do any crafts what do they do? lol. Seriously I don’t have enough hours in my day to do the things I want to do ( stupid life responsibilities taking way too much of my time lately 🦀) Do you listen to a lot of audio books? Do you read on a kindle? I don’t do either, I love holding a book in my hands. Have a great weekend. My husband and I are taking 3 yes I said THREE 13 year old boys fishing tmrw. Pray for me. 🐟🐠🎣

Hello? Are you still there??? Did you survive the teen fishing weekend??? I'm with you: I love holding the book in my hand. AND I write a good deal of marginalia in my reads. That's do-able on electronic versions, but not satisfying in any way. Though I did spend a year or so reading on my phone and iPad and found I read a LOT more/a lot more often than with actual books. I do not do many audio books, some but something like one a year, maybe. My friend and I are re-reading 1984 and I've been listening to that on YT while I slow-stitch or crochet. Course' I have to stop crafting every two minutes to jot book/reading notes down for our book discussions. lol
