Faux Leather TN DIY

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

I use a faux leather ribbon material from Hobby Lobby to make a personal sized TN cover. This idea is from Meka Allen @yespleaseplanning and her video link is below.

This is exactly what I was looking for! I couldn’t figure out why my interfacing wasn’t working, now I know it’s because I was using water in my iron. Thanks so much for this!!!

This is so amazing I watched Meeka's video before I found this one and I love how we can take someone's idea and make it your own while giving credit to them. This is the best way to flatter each other I the crafting g community. Great ideas and information can't wait to make these for myself.

Checkout Meka's video too. I have made two more planner covers using this technique since making this video and each one is easier and a little bit better.

Thank you so much for sharing your take on this, and for linking back to my video. I have interfacing and have been wanting to try it on another DIY, especially for the ribbons that have the canvas-like texture on the back.

I had the same stretchy cord and I thought of breading it too but I didn’t like how it looked for some reason. I did double up my thread tho. So each book has 2 strands instead of one. I also used crimp beads to attach the ends of the cord instead of knotting. I was so glad to think of that:) I love this planner you did. I can’t wait to make my own. I just bought a recollections one and added extra holes and that stretchy cord and It’s worked really great but I love the look of that material you used! Thanks for the videos! It was great!

Double sided interfacing would also keep you from needing glue. For anyone who is going to make one.

Hello Donna, I am planning a video where I make a TN to show how easy it is. I will be making one using the faux leather from Hobby Lobby and one made from cloth with a rigid interfacing called Peltex. Look for that soon in September.

How did you make the spine and the pen loop? Watching this makes me want to try to make my own. Thank you for this video.

The spine, I cut a piece of the fabric and glued it to the outside of the outer cover. This was before I glued the cover and the lining together. I then sewed through all three layers along the long edge of the spine and then around the edge of the entire thing. I used a nail to make the holes for the elastics.

I think the edges looked better plain without being colored.

The 2nd time I used this technique to make a TN I left the edges white and like it better too.

Did the tacky glue work better?

I have since been using fabric glue only. The craft glues seem to harden and can crack with time but fabric glues have maintained their softness better.

Go slow. Be patient with yourself and maybe practice first on scrap pieces of you're nervous or unsure.
