I LOVE fasting......it has changed my relationship w/ food, decreased my desire to overeat, and so many other benefits. I feel so much more in control of my hunger, feel much less bloated, and deink a lot more water. It is so worth it to 24 hour fast. We focus on food way too much....so it is very enlightening experience.

I have fasted since I was a teenager this was not a strict regime as it now it just happened. I still fast between 12 and 16 hours daily, I must admit that I have noticed lately a significant change at around the 12 hour mark, I am more alert and certainly feel better for it. I am now 75 and still working, I do not drink, smoke or have any underlying medical issues and I have all my teeth (Just thought I would mention that), I don't want to live longer I just want to be healthy and stay self reliant.

Hopefully this will answer some questions: I started 16/8 fasting at the beginning of 2020 (right before the pandemic hit). I have lost 100lbs since (6'3" 350 lbs down to 250 lbs) and have maintained a much healthier weight since. Here's what I can share from my personal experience. 1 - I chose my eating window to be 11AM to 7PM with the thought that the easiest meal to do without is breakfast. 2 - when eating I still tried to keep my overall calories for the day below 2000. (being 6'3" technically my daily calories should be a little higher as well) 3 - The first two months are tough - my body was trained to want food when I woke up - so the "hunger cravings" sucked - so just drink water. In my case I drank black coffee (some argue adding cream breaks the fast, some say it doesn't - I err on the side of caution) 4 - Your body WILL adapt, and soon it just becomes second nature 5 - calorieless drinks are ok - I stick to water, black coffee, and unsweetened iced tea - I did drink diet coke for the first year as well, but cut that out in 2021 6 - I added working out at the gym in 2022 to help build a little muscle mass back. I didnt lose a lot, but I did notice it - I was never overly strong to begin with, but now in 2023 I have noticed a big difference. I work out about 930pm to 11pm 3 times a week - many tout working out in the fasting late hours but that would mean 9am and work prevents that. Lastly - make it your lifestyle - once you start, commit yourself to always eating like this - it WILL change your life. I no longer have high blood pressure, I have a LOT more energy, and I have more self confidence. Good luck! YOU CAN DO IT!!

I've been fasting 18-6 every day for several years. My commitment for 2023 is to work towards 24 hours or OMAD with an occasional 36 hour fast mixed in. I'll give a little wisdom on the subject of fasting. 1. Don't confuse boredom with hunger. If you think you are hungry, do something for a few minutes and it will be gone. 2. If you are married or living with someone it is best that your partner, be on the same page. It's a lot harder if they are cooking and eating all the time. 3. Breakfast is the easiest meal to eliminate and try to exercise in the mornings. 4. This is not hard; it doesn't cost anything. in fact, it saves you money. 5. Good luck

Although 'a few' and 'few' are nearly identical, they carry very different emphases. 'A few' is used as a positive expression, simply indicating that the quantity in question is higher than two. The term 'few,' however, is most often used negatively to express a count that is low or lower than expected. Compare the following sentences: "Few cell lines can survive for extended periods at room temperature.” “The flask was left out of the incubator all night, but there were still a few viable cells.”

I've been on calorie restrictive diets most of my life (63yo) and they were okay but always left me tired and hungry and obsessed with food because of all the calorie counting etc. I ended up putting it all back on and had to repeat each following year. But with OMAD 15 months later the weight is still off and OMAD or 2mad is the new normal. I never even think about breakfast and usually wait til 2 or 3pm before I eat an incredible meal rich in healthy fats and proteins wth some green carbs.

But when I eat I need a lot of protein or some heavy foods that not easy digest, like if I eat fish I feel its to light for a meal but after that I can fast for 24 hours

Lost 50lbs intermittent fasting, back to my high school weight at 40 years old. I actually found that I need to be careful to eat enough as I feel so good while fasting, I don’t look forward to eating like I used to; I now eat to fuel, not consume with gluttony. I do occasionally enjoy the cheat day, but honestly, the after effects - head in clouds, overall fatigue, not so much.

I have been fasting for 36 hours once a week for over a year now, and I can tell you there are huge benefits to this. Too many to describe, but everything in this video is factual and on point. My biggest advice is to learn how to control your mood and mentality as a whole. This has been my biggest struggle while fasting. It is easy to downward spiral with this and get very hangry. If you choose to fast don’t make those around you suffer from these personal effects of fasting.

Not sure if I do something wrong or people were even heavier than me to begin with and hence I may not get results as much as some of you. I don’t like sodas and processed food much to start with so I wonder if that plays a role in it.

I've been doing intermittent fasting (18/6 daily) for almost a year and have lost 60 pounds on this protocol. I reached my target weight in just 6 months and easily maintaining it with 2 good sized meals in my 6 hour eating window. The benefits to my overall health and well-being are off the charts...blood pressure, lipid profile, glucose, etc. are all in optimal ranges without any medications. I do take some high quality supplements (multi, salmon oil, ubiquinol, vit d3 & k2, magnesium, ester c) once daily, so I'm sure they're helping too. I want to start doing a 48 hour fast twice monthly to get more benefits from autophagy, but I have a hard time fasting past 18-20 hours. One thing is for sure, I will continue at least my daily fasting for the rest of my life, as the benefits are undeniable.

Same here my ibs completely went away and it's also helped me pin down what was upsetting me. Turns out it's refined flours and oils and sugars. If it's processed now I don't eat it. Feel better than I've done in years.

I'm 5 hours in and I'm painfully hungry! Do you do the fast every so often at regular time periods? Such as monthly? I'm trying to do 48 hours to see what the effect is.

@@harrychown6854 Sorry it took me a while to reply. I don't fast as often as I used to, sadly. I used to do 2 - 24 hour fasts a week. Twice a year I did 5 day fasts. Every one is different, so some people feel hungry faster and longer than others. For me, the first 6-8 hours were the hardest. After that is was easy, I didn't feel hungry. I drink lots of water to make it easier. Fasting is not for everyone. I would check with doctor if you go more than a day or two, especially if you have health problems. There is no shame in starting out with shorter fasts, like 12-16 hours as a "test drive" and see how you feel.

At first, I do fasting because of losing weight. But, after watching this video, I want to change my perception. I want to do fasting not only for weight loss, but for better brain function and prevent my body from diseases

i do 36 hour fssts twice a month (ekadashi) and generally there's a 13 hour gap between my dinner and breakfast. It's great. I recommend doing this if you want something to do but don't know what to do. Thanks for the video. 😊😊😊 Very informative and to the point.

You also are so much more productive and can get a lot more done when eating in a 8 hour or less eating window. I eat twice a day between the hours of 2pm and 10pm due to my schedule so in the morning i wake up drink water and start my day i dont even think about food i love it!

I'm always on at least a 16:8 IF schedule. So, skipping an extra day gives me exactly 40 hours, which is nice to do every month or every other month. I also do this 40 hour fast when I've maybe eaten too much, like gone out to Mexican food :)

It’s crazy how we were conditioned that multiple meals should be the norm and that, the more we eat the better. I’ve always been weirded out by this concept, because before I came to America, I was accustomed to eating OMAD but was told that wasn’t healthy and that I should eat more but it wasn’t a choice that I was eating less, in fact I was full and wasn’t craving any more than just one meal. So, overtime, due to pressure especially by family, I’ve conditioned my body to eat three meals a day which is more than what I would eat back then, to the point that I’ve gained unhealthy weight followed by eating disorders and I really wished someone was there to guide me, to let me know that my body was fine and my eating habits weren’t insufficient.

Started with 18:6 right away and quickly found out that its hard for me to eat dinner too because I'm so full from lunch (due to keto diet). Had to force dinner inside myself first couple of times. So I went OMAD and damn I feel so good in the morning. I've noticed if I study in the morning in a fasted state I feel like I'm galaxy brain or something. Doing lunch after this starts to feel like a punishment at this point because I become tired and sleepy so I'm definitely gonna try doing more than jsut 24h

fasting is amazing. you feel better and you save a lot of money on food lol a year ago i was eating 3x every day + snacks in between now i eat once or twice a day and have lost so much weight you need to get used to it. first reduce the sugar then cut it off completely until you feel comfortable without sugar (usually takes a week or two). then slowly from 3 meals to 2 (extend the time in between) and when you feel good with 2 you can try with 1 or 1 1/2. thats what my stage is right now. apparently you can also go 48-72 hours without food but i ll see soon enough if its possible or not, i usually feel a little bit weak after 20h+

Once I fasted for 2 days, but I slept a lot, like 10 hours a day, and the rest I was either sitting or walking slowly. I swear I lost so much fat in just those 2 days, and my muscles looked more toned. In just 2 days.

I"ve just started the 18:6 fasting timeframe, hoping this will help with the weight loss. I'm also spending an hour at the gym before work, 30 min on the treadmill, and 30 min of weight lifting, alternating upper and lower body days.
