Well, Roy, it may be the smallest KZread channel at the moment but one of the biggest in content and learning. So nice to get good unbiased advice and opinion without people banging on about their sponsors. I have the second-generation Tamron 24-70 f2.8mm and am really happy with it on my Full Frame Nikon. Thanks again and subscribed.

Thanks for this lovely comment! Really great to hear such positive feedback.. Not personally used that Tamron lens but I hear only good things.. I should get hold of one to review! Thanks for your time watching, commenting and the subscription.. I really appreciate these things. Very best wishes. RR

Concise, practical, and easy to understand. As Mark Twain once said, “I would have written you a shorter letter if I’d had more time.” Intelligent brevity is hard work and the mark of a pro. Great job, Roy. Press on with the channel. I bought the EF 24-105 f/4 L IS USM second hand from a professional photographer in no small part because of your excellent video review of the lens. Using it has been a joy. Thank you! The same goes for your review of the EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 L IS USM. Overlooked by many. But your professional use of it was THE reason I just bought it. Seriously. And then, saw Chris Frost’s review praising it as razor sharp and highly recommended which just confirmed your real-world take. Grateful for your sharing your expertise and experiences. All the best!

Thanks for this great comment Robert! Really does mean alot. I’ve not been making videos for a few weeks, foreign assignments, Covid, family stuff.. hard to carve out time for everything.. but there will be lots more coming as and when they happen. I have lots of ideas that need forming into youtube friendly chunks! All the very best. R

Professionals usually don't have the luxury to take great pains over their work. This is nevertheless a very good result for a quick edit. Using the Exposure slider for dodging and burning in LR is somewhat problematic in my opinion because there you pull the midpoint in the curve although you might be dodging high lights. I have found the luminosity mask in local adjustments very handy tool do control this and thus eliminating the parts of the curve that I don't want to pull. I use this method to do global dodging and burning (two mask all over the image then filter out top/bottom) and that gives me better results than applying contrast.

Thank you. Very constructive methods you suggest. It’s great that there are so many options when editing. I will often spend much longer on an image but as you say often there is no time so I try to work as quickly as possible to get what I want from the image. The Canon RAW files are so flexible these days. Very spoilt. I remember the days of hand printing large format negatives where we had to be very precise. Thanks again for your time watching and your comment. Hope you have a great weekend. R

I noticed you didn't have the histogram up when you were editing in LR. I thought you would need it for clipping the whites and blacks. Just come across your channel.. It's great..! Anyone that isn't sponsored by Square space will do for me..!!

Cheers John! Glad you like the content. I often do use the histogram, especially when preparing a file for printing, also though I often just go by “feel” I’m not massively technical! I just make things look how I want them to be and have developed a knack of not pushing too far in post production.

Hi Roy. Thanks for the quick run through of your thought process for the feel of the photo you wanted to achieve. Just curious, regarding split toning, what combination do you usually use? Is it orange/teal? Since you quickly mentioned split toning, but chose to not use it in this instance, then it made me curious. Cheers!
