There needs to be more fashion commentary channels like yours, THE CASUAL and HauteLeMode. I enjoy discussing interesting topics more than I enjoy watching hauls or styling videos tbh.

Treat them like the Wall Street Journal. They do not get compensated to attend fashion weeks. You will have less bias. If I have to pay to see your show, I am going to really tell it like it is, not what I think you will want to hear so I can get invited the next year.

I really like your channel, I will check out the others that you recommended. I follow Haute le Mode, however, I am so over the bitchy way he has chosen to present his material. I can agree with some of it but because of his own bias, It has become very negative with a very mean spirit towards some designers.Don't get me wrong, his credentials allow him to speak to what he often complains about, I have just become tired of his presentation. am considering unfollowing his channel and giving him a break. As far as the financial situation, that is pretty sticky because people change when people and companies are giving them money or other means of financial support. I guess if you did a go-fund- me style champaign on your Patreon to send you or a small team to cover Fashion Week in one or two cities, then report back. I have often wanted to see Seoul Fashion Week, Dubai Fashion Week, Hong Kong fashion week. Find emerging markets that will bring a different perspective and diversity. Hell, there are many markets and designers right here in the U.S. that can and should be explored.

You are the gem of youtube fashion channels. Long, explaining, deconstructing/analyzing, videos where you always learn something new about a brand/designer. Also all your videos are unique and no where else to be find on youtube, so keep doing what you love.

Also on the point of "there's too many youtubers" fallacy - I totally think it's wrong to view youtube as a zero sum game. Instead the more people who are making different but similar content in this niche the better, there's no shortage of audience members on youtube and if this community can create a lot of great content around fashion its going to keep viewers returning like as if this were a TV channel and these youtubers are the separate shows.

  • @FashionRoadman

I totally agree, never understood the whole numbers game when it came to the number of creators. I feel like a budding group of creators working together will always be better than less completely separate entities.

I think both Bliss and Haute Le Mode leverage personality and entertainment value to make their videos better, I don't think these types of videos have to be either strictly for fashion enthusiasts or for casual viewers. I don't want to trade 1 for the other but I have noticed for my videos personally, the audience responds better to the videos that are more high-fashion-centric. BUT i don't think the "lifestyle" type of fashion content is going anywhere fast, it still appears to be the most popular.

  • @FashionRoadman

    @FashionRoadman

    4 жыл бұрын

Oh yes that’s definitely the most popular (talking about the fashion/lifestyle content) but how relevant is it in the sphere of Luxury & Avant Garde fashion or educating people about fashion. I don’t see those type of content creators being invited to shows to analyse the runway or to collab with magazines by contributing to magazine edits. I think that sphere of fashion is totally different to the one we are all in.

Found The Casual, who told me about Bliss then found you guys because bliss inspired me to do some research on something and I was going to London, so I found you. You guys are connected. My thing about Haute is that he takes the negative door to express his thoughts and ideas and sometimes comes out the positive end. It's a bit of a painful road even though the journey to listen to his videos can be fruitful. Overall, you guys need an outlet that help us get even higher quality ideas. I heard this on the stream you had with Reggie.

The same evolution is happening right now in skateboarding, they used to looked down on skate youtuber's, as if they wasn't real core skater's, or somehow being a youtber made them less of a skater, but in time I've seen this change massively, with major brand's, top skater's, everything to do with the industry becoming more accepting of the youtbe D.I.Y attitude. The cream will always rise to the top!

I just think fashion KZreadrs started at the same base level. Vans, skinny Jeans, flannels etc. As you invest more time into your channel and style you start realizing your own taste. I think everyone’s taste has evolved now and we have a bunch of people now posting about the thing that they truly fuck with and care about. I also think now is the “ anything goes” era of fashion where there are certainly looks that are synonymous with this time we live in. That being said I think most people who have been doing this long enough to make mistakes, have formulated a style that would better define them as individuals

I 100% agree with you and I could relate myself being a significantly smaller fashion channel it is a slow climb to gain a fanbase within this community but it is a fanbase heavily invested in fashion so brands should realize this eventually. However, I believe alot of brands aren't even targetting this market tbh but are more focused on selling the simpler tees' hats, cologne and trinkets that usually sum up to a larger profit. Also, clarify a point for me please, do you believe that only persons of a formal/institutional background should be able to make analytical or commentary based content on fashion? Keep up the great content

I think a huge interest in the subject matter is all you need. There are fashion journalists with journalism degrees that write wrong information on a daily basis. All the formal fashion background does is let people in the fashion industry have a reference point that your information is of a high standard and maybe be more likely to start respecting fashion youtubers more.

I do think I’m general fashion shows have gotten better compared to legendary shows from the 90s and 00s especially the likes of Balenciaga using space really well it makes it feel larger than the clothes. Yeezy season 8 was also a masterpiece he really created a space that felt like an entirely different planet. I think that goes a long way to broadening fashion appeal it’s less inside baseball and more storytelling

men, I freakin love your videos, keep creating. ok so: first things first: Emma wasn't invited by LV, she was invited by the head of KZread fashion, and you know nowadays everything is about views cuz views are translate into money n so. I think when coronash¡t just end, someone like you with your # following could start building presence like those fashion influencer on instagram but now idealised onto KZread, in a way more creative. so there is no limitation and high fashion brands (as I realized) they don't look for amount of views, they look for creativity, idk if u know about that e-girl on IG that isn't real, its like a 3D made, and brands like Versace are looking for "her" to promote the brand. another thing talking bout Emma C, is that those fashion houses I think at this times they don't put so much effort on promoting products to get sales (obviously yeah, but...) they care more n put more money on being extremely famous n popular, as LV already did it, I don't trust so much in luxury street wear cuz honestly I think it is just hype, Virgil is hype, that's it, LV spend about 8 billion dollars on just marketing, which is so sick, n the collab w Supreme was knowing that Supreme buyers would buy anything n any price because they don't care about "real fashion" n they just care about their culture, so that collab opened the doors to Virgil cuz now Supreme buyers are LV buyers too. From my point of view. Best wishes....

Under the same breadth you could say the same of any other content creator. I know people who are really young who follow the likes of Loic Prigent, The Casual, Bliss Foster etc. I find it really hard to envision someone being inspired by watching a video of someone going to an LV show and making a joke if it.

The Fashion Archive that’s a good point. I guess I just mean that In the grand scheme of things her audience is a lot more broad and could reach more people on varying levels of interest and age than the mostly male 18-30 year olds who more than likely watch the channel you aforementioned

The Fashion Archive people don’t like seeing opinionated women I guess. they nitpick every little thing they say and find any excuse to say something demeaning. as a man, being super opinionated and making snarky remarks is seen as funny, but as a woman it’s just seen as bitchy

ageee with you on everything except the emma chamberlain one. Her fans aren’t just 10 year olds. The majority of her fan base are 16-20 year olds who have actually gone out to buy LV because of her recent relationship with the brand. Don’t underestimate her influence. I think what LV is doing with her is smart, but they do need to reach out to people like Bliss and HauteLeMode.

Personally if I owned a luxury fashion brand, instead of paying all that money on one content creator like Emma Chamberlain that isn’t fashion specific. I’d use that same budget and spread it amongst the best of the best fashion content creators (bliss foster, loic prigent not that Loic needs it haha, haute le mode, the casual, high fashion talk group etc) who will actually break down my runway shows and educate the masses about the beauty of design. This will have a much larger effect in educating the masses as well as sales when compared to just spending all the budget on one hot ticket content creator that isn’t really fashion specific. I actually know this from working at some luxury fashion brands. Brands just do what’s easy and obvious because they actually don’t even know who the right person is. I’ve been in the meetings when they choose these influencers and they legit search “fashion” in the search bar and look for the creators with the most views.

The Fashion Archive oh no, don’t get me wrong. I completely agree with you. Fashion houses definitely need to do that, and I would do the same, but I was just saying that from a business standpoint, I think it works for LV, not something i’d do or think is right, but it works for them. Also, is there really much to analyze from Nicolas Ghesquiere’s LV😭. Besides that though, it would be amazing to see someone like bliss go to even the LV Men’s show or any other brand for that matter. love your channel. keep it up!
