After playing Far Cry 5 I played Fat Cry 4 again because I was longing to use specific weapons again, the autocross and the Buzzsaw. While replaying it I was surprised how many villages are in the game. Far Cry 5 has only Falls End, the trailer park and Hurk's cousin's place.

Far Cry 5 is way underrated, one of the most enjoyable and relaxing games I’ve ever played.

@@spacedout4061 I generally carry a LMG with ap rounds. As that's more useful. And a ar/battle rifle with the soft target ammo. ASVAL mag dumping in their head works great. And then the orbiter for helis and other anti armour. And rhe full auto Golden mak for the sidearm. Which is great for drive bys.

I personally don't mind the loot system in this game. It makes going out and exploring the world worth it.

The loot system is just picking up 1 million of the same things, 3 had flavour to the loot.

The fact that they scrapped the “Guns for Hire” feature from Far Cry 6 is disgraceful. That was one of my favorite new features in Far Cry 5. It was awesome feeling like you had your own crew and made you think about what followers you wanted to keep based on your play style.

This game is by Ubisoft Toronto. - Pretty much all other Far Cry games but the first (which was by Crytek) were by Montreal, and even Far Cry 5 was co-developed by Toronto and assisted by some other studios.

@@Nick930 - Hey! - I know, it's probably because it's their biggest studio who also do most of the flagship games, and Montreal indeed has done pretty much 90% of "Far Cry", so one can't be blamed for thinking it's once again by them. - It's probably because they were still on "AC: Valhalla" that it moved to Toronto this time around. (I also just noticed that "Watch_Dogs" also went from Montreal to Toronto.) - I also think it's important to make the distinction that Ubisoft consists of multiple studios, as many seem to think it's just this one entity that does everything. - And fun fact; Apparently some studios under Ubisoft even have a rivalry going on, and not a friendly one.

Except he always compared a polished off, updated version of the previous game to the brand new unpatched version of new games. I would prefer a comparison of far cry 5 when it first dropped to far cry 6. Of course the previous version is going to look better and smoother with all its updates and stuff.

The graphics and setting of this game is incredible. Love just exploring around and literally always lose track of my objectives.

Surprised you didn't touch on the changes to the photo mode, the biggest of which allowing live spectating in real time. I love setting a destination to auto drive to then opening up photo mode to be able to enjoy the scenery from above with a drone like view different filters and if done at Sun rise or sun set you can enjoy that time of day from one side of the map to the other instead of for a minute or two. Only catch is if your player takes damage the photo mode will automatically be turned off.

If they were able to do this amount of detail in jungle environments. Imagine what it would like if they do a Vietnam Farcry based game or a Pacific theater one, would be pretty dope tbh.

A lot of games tried to do a Vietnam based game like Mafia 3 tried, Cod CW tried, even Far Cry 5 dlc tried. But still not a single triple A game did what you said, I've been waiting too, specially a open world game based on vietnam and the Farcry 5 dlc and Mafia 3 is the closest one we get.

@@Nick930 Rising storm 2 was an excellent Vietnam game but I suppose you mean this one by saying red orchestra spin off. Also mafia 3 had the closest feel to Vietnam era eventhough biggest part of the game was on new orlean. But there were a few missions at Vietnam plus the music, guns and cars, even at new orlean, gave you the same feeling that you are on the Vietnam era.

Yeah AC Valhalla already had one of the best water i had seen but this looks even better. Ubisoft is honestly the gold standard of the industry for the moment when it comes to water (except for that horrible Watch Dogs Legion water), although if the gameplay demo for Horizon forbidden west was real that would be the new peak for that.

Yeah the water effects are pretty nice. I like that they added 3D waves for larger shorelines, and it feels great when jumping in water.

So far i'm really loving this game, my main big issue being the mentionned ammo system. God standards ammos sucks, to the point it's pretty much mandatory to strap AP rounds on anything if you don't want to throw entire mags into people.

In both FC5 and 6, you can change the weapon position (offset) to centered in the gameplay options. They wanted to leave options for the player to either see more of their weapons and arms or the world.

That's not what the offset and centered options mean. The options change where your reticle is located, no the were the weapon model is on your screen.

I've definitely noticed improvements in the a.i when it comes to noticing bodies, making the act of hiding them actually useful for once. I also like the restrictions placed on attachments, it makes you think before you choose.

FC 5 was the best one for me. I don't know why but The world felt living and was really addictive. I've played every Far cry but there was something else with FC5. The hiking trails with People playing guitar by a camp fire and the real feeling of being outdoor. Far cry 6 is good but miss the wow feeling of the world. Also The soundtrack made FC5 better.

The difference in the audio/echoes, the air in Montana is going to be quite different than the air on a tropical island, that affects the echo massively. That's actually a very accurate thing they did there.

Great! I'm playing Far Cry 6 and rhe environment is so well designed. Sometimes I just stare at the horizon. The setting also reminds the legendary Far Cry 3.

I know I am late to the game here but my 2 cents. 1) awesome breakdown of the differences and improvements made, very detailed! 2) for any new players, do not underestimate the Bandido Operations great way to earn resources super fast early game. Did not get much coverage here but wanted to share it can be very helpful

Always appreciate how thorough your videos are!

I think Far Cry 3 would also make a great comparison considering how similar the environments are and to show how far the engine has come since 2012

Great video, lots of details I was curious about. Your efforts are appreciated.

I like your review, but I just don't get what's so "tedious" about FarCry 5's story progression in relation to the resistance meter. If anything, it actually fills up TOO QUICKLY. I remember getting abducted for a mission, then after I finished that particular mission, I drove towards the next side mission I want to do, killing enemies and rescuing folks along the way, thus earning resistance points. And before I even got to the destination, I got marked for abduction again. It was so stupid. But true.. the resistance meter was a pain in the ass, either way, and should have never been put in the game.

It either took forever to fill or too quickly. It felt unnatural as well. With random snatching and the "chosen" would only activate per region Here when you clap someone. It makes the ENTIRE island go into a higher alert status. Not just your local area. And they're are still patrols. Which I like. 5 after you beat one the entire area was empty. No more enemies. Here you do it there's more. They're far more aggressive.

I thought that the first time I played FC5. The difficulty setting should determine how quickly or how slowly the resistance meter fills up. On replays I purposely do not rescue townspeople in vans or other events that fill up the resistance meter just so the whole thing lasts longer.

FC5 is definitely the shortest far cry game for me due to how quick the resistance meter fills up. The main problem for this is the side activities like saving a civillian, blowing up a cult vehicle or killing a cult VIP. They all give too many points. If I can get 400 points for liberating an outpost but get 50/100 points everytime I save a civillian or kill a high value target, that starts to add up quick. I'd also argue that the total amount of points needed to complete a region is also too low as it doesn't give you enough time to enjoy each mission (not to mention some missions can be flat out missed). I had only explorered half of jacobs and faiths region before the resistance meter was filled leaving several missions unplayed. Most players after completing a region wouldn't care to go back and do the missions they missed because there's no more feeling of progression when more can be done in another region. That's my biggest problem with this game. Even if there's mods that alter the resistance points rewarded, a casual player wouldn't use this. This wouldn't be a huge issue if all the cult spawns didn't disappear after liberating a region

That means nothing to me. I don't want a big but empty map. World size doesn't make it a good map.

I personally like that you have to explore and find gunpowder and can find random weapons. I think 5 had very little progression compared to the other games, this was a way to bring that back.

Let's be honest though it was both fc5 and 6 were absolutely garbage compared to fc 3 and 4. 3 was honestly the best and had much MUCH more to do than the later installments.

@@arnavjoshi7047 for me the weird part of it in FC5 was that the crosshairs were in the lower third of the screen instead of centered. Some other games that did this were Halo 3 and Halo Reach. Recently, Deathloop had the lowered crosshairs. Most modern FPS games have centered crosshairs. I prefer centered. Lowered crosshairs make it look like you’re looking slightly up to the sky all the time.

The ammo thing sounds like a deal breaker. I hate bullet sponge enemies

The problem to me is not the bullet sponges, is the way it forces you to use this type of ammo, you are forced to use one different for each of the four slots if you want to kill everything on your way, that means you will end up empty of ammo faster on some types of ammo, I think ammo should be added as a wheel selector for every weapon, so you can change ammo when you need it, not mod the ak for armor pearcing and be stuck with that XD. It's nonsense.

Personally, just stick to armour piercing. Most enemies are armoured and enemies that aren’t can be ripped apart anyways (headshots too)

The only thing I’d pick up on this video is that you can load your weapons with armour piercing rounds across the board and they’re prett effective against all enemy types.

I wonder if FC team fixed the enemy spawns... it was trash from FC2 and was recently improved, but with the introduction of prop planes in FC5, you can see the limitation of spawns when you strafe against enemies and come back to the same spot and they respawn as if nothing happened.

2 minutes into the video and it is already quite remarkable, I like what they did in 5 with how scenic it is (even in comparison to other titles in the franchise), minimising the HUD and placing the player’s POV slightly above the weapon so that as much of the actually surroundings can be seen on screen

Are you sure your FC5 wasn't set to aiming reticule offset? because both games have the centered/offset option with allows for a better view of your surroundings when put on offset.

In FC5, when you want to go down, you have to either walk down the hill or use your wingsuit. You may slide down but very slowly. In FC6, sliding down to the bottom is so fast and the newest detail I wanted.

You can switch ammo type from the weapon wheel, and there's a quick swap button. Did they fix it?

Far cry 5 visually is more consistent and looks much better overall

@@jims1046 True, they all slightly improve on each other. People seem to think the story is a really major factor, so bizarrely think FC3 is the best when it's a lesser game.

I actually REALLY like the weapons round options. Like. You get the option of soft and hard rounds for free on every gun so it incentivizes players to keep a lot of stuff on them. Be prepared. Its not hard

gotta say farcry 5 still looks pretty amazing.

I think Far Cry 6 is the better game myself, there’s more to do and the villain is more memorable, the only thing i hate is having to constantly switch weapons and ammo for enemies, it kills the flow a bit 😊

Just load armour piercing rounds in all your weapons, and you’re good to go against all enemies. I’ve never used the “soft target” rounds on anything. The poison, fire and explosive rounds come in handy, occasionally. Also, you can swap out fully modded weapons, on the go, so have one weapon set up with armour piercing and another weapon, in reserve, with whatever ammo you need… it’s like being able to change ammo, but you’re changing the whole weapon

I have never had a problem. This video is really extreme. You don't need different ammo for different enemies. Play the game yourself and you'll see. Such a shame peopel let 1 video make decisions for them.

The flame thrower import six Tightens the flame The same as part five as long as you pull the trigger like you’re aiming down the scope it follows the flame so it’s not so widespread. It only fires wide if you don’t hold L trigger while you’re shooting with right trigger

You can center the weapons in Far Cry 5. It's an option in the settings.

There does seem to be ways to progress very well, but failing to find something useful or failing to engage in the sub-game and to recruit leaders for it - can seemingly leave a player under leveled for a long time. There is some chest with some very nice stuff "just laying around" such as in loot chests you can just drive too in the city - and not have to fight anyone. or the top of a light house - or hidden in the special operation dinosaur park next to the pterodactyl. You can do some minor questing to get additional pets too. I think if someone really wanted to streamline their play an minimise their pain the info is out there - and heck if you are feeling nutty you can grab a tank really early on too. I agree the supremo backpacks are a bit strange in the way they are implemented and I do personally like Far Cry 3's hunting to make extra capacity slots and the like feature more than Crafting of EVERYTHING- not that I hate crafting - i'd just likely forget to do it - like I forget to pick up herbs in the other games.

Idk what ur playing. It feels more like farcry 4 than farcry 5, which is so much goodness. although I do miss guns for hire.

My biggest issue with the game so far are the bullet sponges. It's not fun fumbling around your weapon wheel trying to remember which gun had the soft-target rounds or poison rounds or whatever. I've resorted to just exclusively using the DMR you get early on because you can 1 shot kill everything if it's in the head.

@Nick, Don't forget in the Settings comparison, 6 finally has divided Sound sliders! And the HUD toggles! :D

I like far cry 5 fov more i thought it looks much more cinematic with it, like we're not playing call of duty and i just don't like being shoved the gun details just for the sake to be seen, i really hope they give the option to change it.

Having access to every weapon you have at any time in the arsenal menu is a greatly appreciated feature. Only being able to choose your loadout at stores was annoying.

Yet another game will better with a patch or two - and double so if it had mod support (this game has some issues that mods could fix - like that ammo stuff).

What FoV did you use for FC 6 in the video ? 90 ?

The only and big issue I have with fc6- the bullet mechanic. In FC5 you could change the ammo type on the fly, or at least in new dawn. In FC6 you must customize the gun to fire different rounds.

In the latest patch for far cry 6 you can now change the ammo type whenever you want.

I just think the overall premise of 5 is better. The whole "What is the player's motivation?" is way clearer in 5 in that all your fellow deputies and the marshall have been kidnapped by cultists. Plus the fact that it's clear from the opening cutscene exactly why you are in Hope County to begin with. In 6 you have no real personal reason to be invested, other then "Oh no he shot up our boat and almost drowned me'. I get that it's Dani's home country but the dynamic between her and Anton isn't even as good as the one between Joseph Seed and a mute protagonist.

Also RPG style level up system, you have to wear specific dress for specific benefit. making you constatntly switch between amo types, dres, weapons, grenade launchers are mildly effective.

If only the fire propagation effect area from 2 was reconstructed for FC6, maybe even sped up a bit as well, I can only imagine how chaotic and lethal the jungle of Yara could feel in the dead of night, pitch black, completely surrounded by mercenaries and flames racing towards you. Could also use a no minimap play through too

After beating the campaign, I can say without an ounce of doubt that this is the best Far Cry game ever.

@@JudeTheKZreadPoopersubscribe me2 I clear the whole damn map by region. I know it's not man's prefered style. But I really can't stand an unfinished map before I kill (I suppose?) The dictator or even the main villain(s) off the region(s).

I bought it for the Stranger Things content and am not a FPS fan but fell in love with it from head to toe. Engaging story, responsive controls, and so much to explore makes this a 10 out of 10 for me. I often go horseback riding with no intent of doing anything but taking in my surroundings. It is a stunningly beautiful experience. I'll be checking out FC5 too. :) Thanks for the comparison! Great vid!

I was not planning on watching this entire video. Very thoughtfully layed out and well spoken comparison!

Just one correction, far cry 5 did not introduce animal sidekicks. That was far cry primal. A really good game actually given how unique it is. While it's also the same far cry formula, the lack of vehicles or modern weapons (modern meaning anything other than literal sticks, spears and clubs) makes it quite interesting. Guess it's a love it or hate it thing tho.

Does it make a big enough difference to land accurate headshots reliably when in a higher-level area? I understand that the enemies would be lethal but is there a possibility to survive and win gun fights?

There's something about almost every recent Ubisoft game that make the textures look muddy, AC Valhalla suffered a lot from this, riders republic, far cry 6 etc all seem to have the same issue. It's hard to put my finger on what exactly it is but the games just don't have a clean graphical look.
