Minor aesthetic nitpick, but it seems like the tauren range increase makes it so targets are just *barely* beyond the physical appearance of their attack. If it's possible to increase their model scaling in-game, without necessarily increasing their collision radius, that would make it feel more congruent with their new range. It might be wacky to nitpick a fan-made map for a theoretical patch for a 20-something year old game but what else are youtube comment sections for?

Honestly quite easy to implement, and deserved too, since taurens are much smaller than a TC
I definitely noticed the taurens catching up faster to the dryad slow poison. The extra range and the slow reduction makes it less kiteable especially when the terrain isnt as open. I like it
Windriders need a bigger overhaul. If their big problem is they’re too easy to spam at T2, and therefore need to be weak for T2 rush not to be OP, then move to T3 and give them a ton more hp. Make them kind of an orc equivalent to gryphons, but with more potential for cheeky surprise transitions since they dont need their own building.

Gonna copy my comment from when he was ranking Orc units - Basically, why not both? - Honestly think they should give Wind-riders the berserker-destroyer treatment. Make their current form weaker, less pop dmg & hp, and come out earlier. Give them a T3 upgrade that allows them to morph or "grow" into Wyvern Matriarch riders, like a Destroyer would, that would be a stronger, tougher, and higher pop version than the current values.

Also from a comment in the orc tier list: Wyverns should lose the slow venom ability and instead gain a T3 upgrade, Corrosive bile, that decreases the armor of units it hits. That way it can play either a supporting role or act as a counter to heavy armor when massed, similar to other T3 flyers.
That purge on friendly fire is crazy, something new to learn about wc3 every stream
What about making the Wind Rider have unarmored as armor type instead of gaining one armor point? This will decrease the incoming damage of piercing from 200% to 150% and magic from 125% to 100%, but increasing siege from 100% to 150%. Gargoyles have unarmored and even higher movement speed, and they seem quite balanced.

Yeah i think this would help them more than anything. And it still makes sense, the wyvern does look pretty naked. :)
That is actually awesome, that you can adjust the changes by yourself! The community could do a much better job than blizzard balancing stuff and make it more fun

The world editor for warcraft 3 is fairly intuitive to use, I'd highly recommend giving it a try! I used to mess around with it quite a lot reskinning the original races to look and attack differently so i could play against a functioning ai of it. The only difficulty i found with the editor is damage which is represented via dice values.

This is awesome that someone was able to implement several changes from your fantasy patch ideas.
i did figure 2 ways to make witchdoctor more viable: 1. new abilety - mimic totem a totem that lasts 30 seconds, has 5 hp and other atributes depending on the totem it copies mimic totem mimics the last totem you cast with this witch doctor, it will mimic the name, cooldown, visebilety, mana cost and aperance of the other totem but not have anny of its other effects (no Los, stunn or healing but will cause spell effects as if it does) if a mimic totem is dispelled it causes a mana burn on the target ecual to twise its own cost to the dispeller, if it is mindcontroled it stunns the controler while still alive the goal here is to create counterplay to dispelling with counterplay posible from the oponent, the mana burn can be counterd buy the games myriad mana restoraion options and the mind-control stunn can be counterd buy anny other unit attacking the now firendly totem. obviusly the abilety is meant to cause some amount of mind-games the rather short duration and duplication of recent totems are hints as to its true nature but unlike static totem you dont counter it with detection, you counter it buy ignoring the right one as if you do its just wasted mana to the orc player 2. combine the spirit lodge upgrades this one is rahter simple, witch doctors and shamans get uppgraded together so investing is a witchdoctor or 2 is a far smaler loss and may be worth it if you can get some amount of value from their abileties

The Tauren changes are a good start, I still think they need a new attack of some kind. Wind Riders being made of glass would benefit from an evasion passive of some kind.
A longer comment. I hope, KZread doesn't delete it. They don't like long comments: Another suggestion for the DL, basically a rework of vampiric, and a radical one, that totally could backfire. Maybe just as inspiration to rework vampiric aura to make DL better during the early game, especially with fiends, but weaker with gargs vs air lategame: Maybe DL aura should be different in general, and units nearby the DL should get a part of the dmg he deals, as HP, while he himself gets percentage of the dmg he deals as heal than units nearby. F.e. if he deals 40 dmg, lvl 1/2/3 vampiric gives units nearby 6/9/12 per hit, and the DL gets 9/13/18 or something like that. Just an example. Or units nearby get a certain percentage amount of their base HP, or of their missing HP, so units with more missing HP get more heal. But that could make f.e. abos very tanky, but you could play around it with hex or stun against the DL. He would have to attack to lifesteal for his army. It would also heal ranged units, and allow to heal up ghouls and fiends outside of the battle, so the DL is stronger EG. You just go to creeps, kill all except 1, and just the DL attacks it to heal nearby units up. It could make Gargs with the DL in lategame weaker. With the current DL, they often times just don't die against NE air, because of their high AA dmg. Depending on how the new DL aura is designed, they would heal far less, and wouldn't heal, if the DL can't attack. He still has his other, strong abilities, his high AoE dmg, maybe the best ult in the game, so imo buffing vampiric aura early game and nerfing it latd game, especially for air, is fine. Also DL would have to stay in fights more to heal other units, so control would be more important. With 1 necro and unholy fury or what this spell is called, he could heal up an army very fast, so this change could lead to some fun, interesting strategies. The higher lifesteal for the dreadlord himself would allow him to fight longer. With ghouls, it depends on how much percentage of the dmg the dreadlord deals they get, or if they get a percentage of their base HP, or of their missing HP. Imo they shouldn't be stronger, and if the DL himself steals more life, he can tank better f.e. for DL fast expand with ghouls. Like I said, the healing should work on all allied units, so it would allow the UD to heal up better if they have a DL, f.e. like I said by going to a creep, and you attack it just with the DL, and have hurt units nearby. That could make the DL better as hero, especially as first hero, if you play smart. One of the reasons for going DK instead of DL as first hero is the strong heal, and DL could offer this outside of fights, if he heals the army up on a low lvl creep. If it's done the right way, and units don't get too much lifesteal, but still enough, ghouls shouldn't be stronger or weaker in real fights, as long as the DL is in the fight and not stunned or hexed, but outside of the fight, the DL could heal up ghouls, and especially fiends, gargs and other heroes outside of battles far better. So changing the DL vampiric aura in general could be interesting. Maybe it would make him totally op in some scenarios, and useless in others, but I think, it would make him stronger in the early game and a bit weaker in the lategame, especially with air, but also stronger with ranged units, because he could heal them, too. Just an idea, and, like I said, a radical change, but maybe something interesting to try, or, at least, to use as inspiration to change the DL 🤷♂️ Edit: it could be around 1%/1.5%/2% of max HP per DL hit, maybe a bit more or less. Ghouls would heal around 3.4 HP per hit on lvl 1, 7 HP per hit on lvl 3. The DL hits around 0.75 times per second. That would mean, per second you get on lvl 1/2/3 around 0.75%/1.125%/1.5% HP regen. Ghouls would heal around 2.6/3.7/5.1 hp per second, fiends around 4.3/6/8.1 per second. To compare it, now ghouls heal for 2/3/4 per second, without any upgrades, if they attack, and ofc for more with upgrades. So they would get around 30% more heal early game, around the same amount compared to ghouls with all crypt upgrades, and slightly less than ghouls with all upgrades, crypt and attack. Abos could heal up to 16 HP per second with aura lvl 3 in my example, gargs would heal far less, but Wyrms would heal a lot, so they could become a thing. Just to give some numbers. It would change the play style a lot, and would make him far stronger early in the game, but vampiric would be better to counter lategame, and invul on DL could be good to keep the healing up, aswell as everything that increases attack speed. Maybe you also could make him agi hero, like an agile hunter, so a total rework and imo more fitting than strenth, but that could make him too strong 🤷♂️

Tauren pulverize should have an area the size of the entire map and deal 999,999 damage. But, it also does friendly fire.

Seemed to me that Priestess of the Moon was smaller than normal even before being Hexed; this was not long before the crash. Wonder if this is related? I was thinking that for Bestiary units in general, including Wind Riders, Orc needs something like an Animal War Training at Tier 3. This would work like Human Animal War Training, but on all Bestiary units, and not as big an increase in hit points (but also not as expensive, although still taking about the same amount of time).
Honestly i would love if the HP regen from DK Unholy Aura was moved to DL Vampiric Aura. DKnight already has so many amazing tools while Dreadlord is bottom tier. Moving the HP regen from one aura to the other would make DK a tiny bit less mandatory.

Death Pact is not as useful, even the ultimate, not as much. On the other hand, all the skills of DL are usable. If they were both lvl 10, people would pick DL a lot more.

I think this is way better since dreadlord has lifesteal.. if you add hp regen to that.. imagine a early ghoul rush with vamp aura (with hp regen). It would outplay anything

I always regret that Orc doesn't have big magic damage dealing unit like all other races. To keep the individuality of the race I'd like that to not be an air unit like Chimeras, Frost Wyrms and Griffins. To adress this and the known problems of Taurens I suggest: Shamans can sacrifice themselves to enhance a Tauren with their magic ability which makes their damage magic and gives them spell resistance (similar to mountain giants after research).
I've been doing this decades ago. My friend who was more into big army RTS games got to play WC3 with me because of it.

Yeah, there are also lesser known slow items. Though I think orb of slow is the only arguable thing to make a cool exception for with this Tauren buff, like an Achilles heel item making it all the more precious of a treasure to try and nab at the merchant when having a choice between that or something else. (Basically makes a very rare cool item far less useful if it gets the nerf by the ability, but makes it incredibly more sought after a treasure) but there is also slow poison to make nerfed by the awesome "Slow resistance" might of the tauren. Make Tauren Mighty Again!!!
Grubbs, whats your oppinion on allowing Kodo to have attack and armor upgrades?
Wyverns starting with 0 armor is one of those cases were someone thought they needed that nerf otherwise they'd be too good and they went too far. Like Gargoyles have 3 with unarmored, how does that make sense.

Have you ever played a game where your 5 starting workers are one of each race? Could make some weird builds.
Since WC3 is pretty much also an RPG, whats your opinion on ability scaling based on stats bonuses? Or even abilities that can debuff those like in DnD(example, Warlock's Hex:*insert main stat here) It shouldnt change their Max Health, Mana nor Armor rating, but may affect other stuff like attack speed, normal attack damage bonus and mana regen?

Grubby, have you ever discussed the idea of community made patches in W3C? It'd be so easy to implement and the possibilities are endless. Maybe they could have their own separate matchmaking for "experimental" patches similar to the PTR. It just seems to me like waiting for Blizzard to patch the game is a slow and painful process with unexpected results and we've had the the ability to modify the game ourselves thanks to the wonderful World Editor all of this time. All it requires is community coordination and W3C is the PERFECT platform for that.
One thing you could look at, is bears, and how fragile they often are, especially vs UD. Another thing is, destroyer vs NE and humans. I feel like that they are too strong against summons. They can dispell water elementals, and also gain mana, and maybe they shouldn't gain mana from summons, just from spells. You could, at least, summon water elementals and treants to fight the UD, and vs water elementals he would have to use 2 dispells to destroy them, and wouldn't gain mana, or 1 to weaken them, but then they still could fight a bit. Water elementals feel like such an important part of the human army, and destroyer can be very strong. However, while imo the Hu vs UD is kind of okay, even without changes, the UD vs NE seems very UD favored, and imo a lot of it has to do with weak bears. So maybe the MG change and having 1 MG with the bears will fix it, maybe some other support unit needs a buff or an ability to support bears, or maybe even bears need a buff to survive longer vs UD. Maybe a bit spell or magic resistance against coil nova + fork lightning + destroyer. Everything else would still be as good against them as before. It's just something, I see a lot: That bears die very fast against a lot of things, especially UD, but not just UD, and that as pretty expensive, 4 food unit, and especially against spells and magic dmg. So maybe they need either changes, or a unit you usually play with bears, like dryades, should be able to give them some kind of support, like giving them some spell and magic resistance the same way inner fire works, or the MG ability can fix it, but imo it would be interesting, to try it out. But bears being a bit weak compared to f.e. abos and knights and even taurens is just my opinion. Just weak as fighters, weak especially against UD and heroes and certain units, because their spells are very strong, sometimes close to too strong, especially as healers and support against an enemy without a lot of dispell, and that makes it hard to justify a buff as fighters 🤷♂️

I think scout owl would be better if it had hp and some active spell. For example: keen eyesight: give more range for ranged air units for some seconds or sonething like that... Dont like that leap abbility neither, should be better something like varus (from lol) abbility hail of arrows ( doing some low dmg and antoheal and slow in certain area) that would be rly useful... For taurens would be cool that totem has 1 more upgrade that gives some def stats like magic res and ms to all taurens near totem...
Crashes are every modder's nightmare :D

Having the influence to change a game is a great thing. Just dont do it towards extreme stuff that only few people will enjoy. Im all in for creating more options, but not new opnstuff, that will end up railing the game even more.

Hey Grubby, if I make a map with a "draft" mode start for WC3, would you feature it? You would have 60 seconds at the start of the match to build a free Altar, Barracks, and Farm + Tower. You get your hero at 00 seconds, and you can make up to free units up to ~20 population within that first 60 seconds. Tavern Heros are unlocked at 00 as well, but you can't move more than 1200 from your town hall for the "draft" time.

yeah i mean why not just ask mappers who have a lot of free time and are willing to help to do patches for u? but i'm not sure how this works, u cannot play ranked custom maps right? so basically u would play custom maps just for fun and not for the rank which I guess is not what u want u could do most of these changes yourself cuz it's easy to just change values in WE, WE is only hard to use when u want to do something more complex like creating a new and cool ability if the game crashed it most likely means the mapper didn't do something properly
The point of Wind Riders is their long poison ... the idea is to spread them all over the map and attack from any point possible and trade 1 blow then run away while the poison does it's work. I know almost no one does that because it's not very viable ... and this change may be nice for them, but a bit further beyond and they will lose the only perk that they have ... that armor will not make them usable, just more bearable to play with ... maybe they need more movement speed instead of armor or at least faster projectile attack point (as it takes like forever to throw that spear). They can be fun if played in the style of Abomination (disease for everyone), just on a target per target basis. If only we had an attack only once command in Warcraft which we could queue ...

Wyvern poison also has never been thematic with the orc aesthetic. A dryad hitting you once and running away while you die fits, but an orc?

Orcs that utilize the capabilities of a wyvern yes. Not all Orcs are warriors, there are warlocks, hunters etc. Not all are brainless thugs, some are more than capable for cunning combat strategies. What about their first hero, the Blademaster? If he had an orb of venom ... hit and run with WW would be more than OP.

Plus, one more very useful strategy is while you are battling with your opponent, they can do the same hit-n-run for the neutral camps ... so for example, while the hero like BM is busy harassing, the Wyverns are poisoning their own neutral camps (by hitting everyone once before they travel towards the enemy), then the BM just comes to collect the exp/goods. Just like with disease, the priest autocasting heal burns mana, so the opponent has to be careful about overhealing. Even many of the counters for Wyverns are counterable by having other supportive units. They go great with BM, TC, Wolf Raiders (Ensnare while running away, or just ignore the ensnared target while poison finishes the job), Shamans for extra attack speed (faster spread) etc. Problem is, they are virtually useless for the grand/final battles, but so are many other units which find their usage elsewhere.

lots of placebo here. 1 armor is margin of error difference. it's like 6% less damage. you will barely notice it. it needs like 3 armor to be noticeable.

True, and they even nerfed their damage by way more than 6% (2 less damage) and poison damage. All in all feels like a nerf. And really, 5 secs diff from Chims production? like that's ever a problem against someone who's had 15 mins of building to reach chimera!

It’s so stupid obviously all they need is more hp so that one breath of fire or bat can’t kill 8 riders at once..
Kind of how balance patches should be done. Minor changes. Not flashy, which is why Blizzard doesn't operate that way.
Change windriders to medium armor. change huntresses to heavy armor, Change raiders to get evasion 15% since they soo faast
TC is also a taurun, meaning that he should get the speed debuff resist too, if not how could he be a hero of his own race, if yes he becomes a bit overpowered. So I guess that this patch will never become real :p

I'd really love to see something useful instead of Far sight. How about a passive, that gives FS say 1/2/3% chance to cast lvl 1 chain lightning on attack?

What's terrible is that you can't strategize around such a low chance but when it does happen eg. 1-3 times in a row it'll make the user run away with that game, making it feel like crap for the opp.

I don’t know farsight is fine. It’s a 50 mana map hack.. it’s better than many abilities like devotion aura for example or searing arrows
You were way too conservative, considering you got modders willing to help you should get a little more crazy

The intent of the 'patch' Grubby made was just "changes I'd like to see on live", he never intended for modders to actually make it real.
