I don't often dabble in GMVs but listen.. listen.. I bought myself a PS5 over Christmas and I think I've logged like, 200 hours of Cyberpunk across two saves since then?? It was the second one I bought and I LOVE IT so much, the story is so rich and the characters are all so incredible. I remember watching the first ever teaser YEARS ago and being so curious about the concept of 'cyberpsychosis' caused by an overload of cybernetic augmentations to the body, and MaxTac.
I know it had some issues at launch but I can't recommend it enough, since the latest patch and expansion it runs perfectly and I just need everyone with a console to experience the magic of this game.
Anyway, obviously I became pretty obsessed with Takemura during my first playthrough. Then I accidentally left him for dead LOL (one of the things I like the most about this game are hidden choices but I was so mad at myself for not going back for him the first time hahaha).
This might not make sense to anyone who hasn't played, but basically all you need to know is that Takemura is a corp working for Arasaka (at least to start with), and V is the game's protagonist who has a literal terrorist (Johnny / Keanu Reeves) living in her head who actually blew up Arasaka tower 50 something years before the game's events start.
Knowing how Johnny reacts if you get with River in the game ("Christ, V. Can't believe you're making me fuck a cop. Gonna go plug my ears, gouge out my eyes") I just know he'd have an aneurysm if it was possible to romance Takemura hahaha.
There are lots of little hints (like him rejecting V via text lol) which made me think he would have been such a good romance option to include like wtf CD Projekt Red?!?!? The inside jokes they have throughout the game are genuinely funny as well - e.g. this one:
• Takemura The Comedian ...
• Stop It A**hole! )
Anyway thank god for fandom I guess because it's all we have in this instance (like you play 20ish hours with him to complete the game and we WEREN'T supposed to fall in love with him?? He also literally saves your life, and you can save his??? Enemies to lovers?!?! HELLO!!!)
I also want to go on a mini rant here. Like listen, I'm bisexual, but that doesn't mean I HAVE to be into Judy okay? She's super sweet but honestly I like a bit of grit so was way more into Panam (even though she can only be romanced by a male V). I feel like this fandom has a tendency to assume that if you don't automatically go for Judy then you're like, a beyond-hope heterosexual hahaha. But I tried both her and River's romance lines and it's not like hers blew me away by comparison. Idk I guess I just felt like putting that out there in case any other queer girls feel this way. Our preferences don't automatically align just bc they gave us one lesbian option! Takemura as a character is the one I found the most interesting, but I'd also have loved to romance Panam - I feel like they needed at least one romance option for women who was a bit firey / rude.
