    A broad, non-incident-specific fantasy like that would also explain why she didn't wish that the fire had never occurred. Of course, if blanket fantasies were allowed, why didn't she wish away everything bad that ever happened to her (not that this wouldn't have carried its own unforeseen consequences)?

    Maybe Lucy's one wish was vengeance on all of those who wronged her, and in order for it to accomplish this wish to her satisfaction it made her aware of who these people were and how they wronged her, so technically she may not have even remembered her childhood bully... As much, but in order for her to truly understand and gain from this wish she's shown how each of these people altered her life's course for the worse.

    The only way I see for Lucy's fantasy makes sense its that she desires revenge on all the people that, in her mind, hurt her, that way she gets her bully and the people indirectly involved in the fire. What doesn't make sense its how the island knew who those people were.

  • @blarmy827
    @blarmy8273 жыл бұрын

    OH! That’s why Lucy hale ends up dealing with her old bully, and being genuinely surprised about it... what you said about Michael rooker? How the island twists EVERYTHING ... so even though she planned the whole thing out... she probably assumed since that was what she wanted by bringing them there and getting her revenge... that the island wouldn’t key in to her next kind of revenge wish. I was confused by that too bc I was like why did she pretend all that alone... but if she didn’t expect it then she would be lost and going along . Even though that’s still 2 things for her instead of 1, but just a thought lol

    The rewrite would be absurdly easy. Make him a longtime boyfriend or fiance of Lucy Hale, first of all. Start out with them all winning the contest and do have the sort of "host" be more ambiguous as to how real he is. Let all the fantasies play out and go wrong, and Lucy seems to be at each one, trying to help but failing miserably. Up until the girl who accidentally started the fire who is a little more clever, maybe even a bit of a survivalist. She could even get out of something easily if Lucy just does one simple thing but Lucy won't lift a finger for some reason. And then maybe she laughs maniacally and is like "don't you get it? This is my wish!" Exposition exposition... Turns out Lucy had discovered the island on her own because it was more like a legend and she was looking for anything to bring her boyfriend back but instead the island showed her she really wanted REVENGE. So now the last one standing has to struggle to escape on her own and Lucy is doing all that she can to prevent it, but somehow the last girl prevails and reaches the room where the boyfriend was and helps him out. Somehow Lucy got separated but she jumpscare appears after the other two got outside and she's sobbing because he's there and alive like she really wanted. But as soon as she goes to hold him he starts to burn, because he was never real, and Lucy burns with him. If you want a moral it can be like the final girl got the wish because it was selfless while all the others were selfish. Final girl leaves the island and tries to warn away everyone she can, but no one believes her of course. Like. It's a really obvious fix?

    I saw this movie at the cinema with a bunch of friends. After it was over we were all like "hmm it was good", but when we started to talk about it more we realised how much doesn't really make sense. Me and my best friend talked for a good hour about how bad it was and how out of left field the twist was.

    It feels like most horror/thriller movies get so caught up in having twists, that they really shoot themselves in the foot. I mean, an island where you get to live out your fantasy, but then everyone starts slowly realising that the fantasies turn dark somehow/have serious real world consequences would be a perfectly good story on its own. It doesn't need a hundred twists and revelations

    The vengeance over everything makes sense because the fantasy could've been to punish everyone involved in her heartache and the bully would've been involved because she feels bad about herself which causes her to latch onto the guy she only talked to once.

    Television belongs to its time. Its wrong to pluck shows from the past, and toss them at audiences. Coming in 2022, Mary Tyler Moore! won't work. Ms. Moore passed in 2017 btw. SHE was a 'strong' woman, as well as beautiful, graceful and kind. Rest in peace Ms. Moore and try to console Ricardo Montalbán.

    I guess that Hollywood is really targeting Baby-Boomers, since the very youngest people who watched the MYMS when it was on the air, would be about 52 (that's assuming that they were about 5 years old, during its last season). Which make sense since there are about twice as many Baby Boomers as Gen Xers, and they have more free time on their hands, and are more likely to watch TV, than either Gen Xers OR Gen Yers.

    I swear, ever since I read The Monkey's Paw, I have this lawyer-reviewing-a-contract mindset when it comes to wishing for shit. Now that I think about it, wouldn't that make a great protagonist for that kinda story - a lawyer who lost his/her/their parents to a Djinn because they made "poorly-worded" wishes, so the kid grows up to be a lawyer (forgetting everything about the Djinn by that point) when eventually the Djinn returns for some reason - maybe to collect the kid's soul (whatever, I'm spitballing here); at which point, the movie would kinda become a courtroom drama where the lawyer loopholes his way out of the deal or whataver. Sorry, I'm very tired lawl.

    I have never seen this movie but just from the description it sounds like if they had just made the bully Lucy Hale’s friend that also bullies her then it would make sense that she’s on the island. Then if Lucy Hale’s character wanted to kill her/punish her because she set her up on a date with someone who died and Lucy Hale’s character in her grief stricken mind saw that as just another act of bullying by the friend. Then as the fantasies are playing out and hurting people she realizes that even though her friend is mean to her in some part for staying friends with her she kind of bullied herself and is in some part to blame for her own pain and therefore maybe not all of the blame shouldn’t be laid at the feet of that friend and with that decides to save the bully friend. Plot twist on plot twist the bully friend was the one actually having the fantasy and she wanted her friend that she bullies to grow a fucking spy and so her fantasy concocted this entire elaborate story tell force her friend to stand up for herself. That would have been fucking hilarious!🤯

  • @Bluebirdscribbles
