Hi everyone! In this video we explore some of the special, female beings and creature from Scandinvian / Nordic folklore and legends. Including: female trolls known as the trollkjerring, Gygre, Mosekone, Ysätters-Kajsa the Swedish wind troll, Slattenpatte & the Mara or Mare. These beings primarily come from folklore - I may do mythological females in a later video!

Thanks for teaching me why mistletoe is called 'maretak' in my language and how they ended up indoors.

I first started watching your videos after wanting to know more about the creatures in the Netflix cartoon, Hilda. I would LOVE it if you did an episode dedicated to the show's creatures, like what they got right and what they changed about them. I.e., trolls, Elves, giants, nisse, Mara, Draugen, ghosts, Gryla, Kraken, Lindworm, the Great Raven (thunderbird), Vittra, water/weather spirits, Yule lads, barghest, etc. 💜

I have never seen the show! I may do some videos in the future looking at movie/series and analysing the folklore within them though so I will keep it in mind :)

As always a fantastic video. You are the ruler of Nordic folklore! And it included my favorite, the "slattenpatte" :D - Strange being.

Thank you - I am really enjoying looking into the lesser known creatures, although unfortunately that often means there is less information on them!
