Fangs of Corruption.

Even as the government sets out ambitious goals in its annual budget, pending bills from suppliers, low absorption rates and poor financial management compound the challenges faced by Kenyans looking to access essential public services. We tell the story of Nancy, a girl who lost her life after a snake bite, revealing how a broken system is costing Kenyans their lives.

I pray for a day that an average kenyan will realize that the real war is a class war but not a tribal one as the politicians would like us to believe. A poor kikuyu has more in common with a poor luo more than he does with his member of parliament. The realization will help kenyans unite for real change. Until then change will only be a pipe dream...in fact things will only get worse.

How I wish every kenyan can see this and understand what is happening. I grew up in a village called Sengani, we have a dispensary called Sengani Dispensary, this is at Matungulu Constituency. When I was young it was thriving. Kibaki's era. Medicine was available free of charge. They had a laboratory free of charge. I remember how I was treated there for recurring tonsillitis, I also got treated for blood deficiency there free of charge. Now ever since devolution came, they were quick to upgrade this facility to some level I don't know...bought an ambulance, started construction of wards, let me say that was the end of this facility. Today the ambulance still there, broken, never served it's purpose, wards that were being constructed it's over a decade never completed, no medicine in the facility, no lab facility. We arr just moving backwards. I pray that one day things will be better for Kenyans.

Sad story for the populations exposed to death by snake bite. I would like to appeal to young innovators to pay attention to this scourge and come up with solutions to keep the snakes away and/or develop a drug that can be kept in the house to help in case. Today people can keep malaria drugs at home. May God give you insight to come up with useful solutions.

It is disheartening to see our beloved country still suffering from the same problems we had at independence. Despite Mzee Jomo Kenyatta setting visions of eradicating DISEASES, poverty and IGNORANCE to transform Kenya, over half a century later we are still having the same problems that our first president envisioned to eradicate. We are still enslaved to corruption, ethnicity and ignorance of our leaders, mismanaging public resources, turning blind eyes to the cries and opinions of Kenyans with great impunity. How I wish we had achieved our independence a little later than 1963 so that we would match up to the economies (that we make examples of) of S. Africa and Singapore. Sending the Whiteman back to Britain that early was a mistake, but electing corrupt and incompetent leaders is a bigger mistake that we make in every election cycle. Ignorance, poverty, poor healthcare systems and corruption will continue until when we Kenyans wake the f*** up.
