Kurt Donald Cobain (February 20, 1967 - c. April 5, 1994) was an American musician. He was the frontman of the rock band Nirvana, serving as the band's guitarist, lead vocalist, and primary songwriter. Through his angst-fueled songwriting and anti-establishment persona, Cobain's compositions widened the thematic conventions of mainstream rock music. He was often heralded as a spokesman of Generation X and is considered to be one of the most influential musicians in the history of alternative rock.
Cobain formed the band Nirvana with Krist Novoselic and Aaron Burckhard in 1987 and established it as part of the Seattle music scene which later became known as grunge. After signing with major label DGC Records, Nirvana found global success with "Smells Like Teen Spirit" from their critically acclaimed second album Nevermind (1991). Although Cobain was hailed as the voice of his generation following Nirvana's sudden success, he resented this, believing his message and artistic vision had been misinterpreted by the public. In addition to "Smells Like Teen Spirit", Cobain wrote many other notable songs for Nirvana, including "Come as You Are", "Lithium", "In Bloom", "Something in the Way", "Heart-Shaped Box", "All Apologies", "About a Girl", "Aneurysm" and "You Know You're Right".
During the last years of his life, Cobain struggled with heroin addiction and chronic health problems such as depression. He also struggled with the personal and professional pressures of fame, and had a tumultuous relationship with his wife, fellow musician Courtney Love. In March 1994, Cobain overdosed on a combination of champagne and Rohypnol, and subsequently entered an intervention and underwent a detox program. On April 8, 1994, Cobain was found dead at his home in Seattle at the age of 27; police concluded he had died on April 5 from a self-inflicted shotgun wound to the head.
Cobain was posthumously inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, along with Nirvana bandmates Krist Novoselic and Dave Grohl, in their first year of eligibility in 2014. Rolling Stone included Cobain in its lists of the 100 Greatest Songwriters of All Time, 100 Greatest Guitarists, and 100 Greatest Singers of All Time. He was ranked 7th by MTV in the "22 Greatest Voices in Music". In 2006, he was placed 20th by Hit Parader on their list of the "100 Greatest Metal Singers of All Time".
Amy Dickinson wrote for Esquire after Cobain's death, "Cobain was first brought to Ithaca in the summer by his widow, Courtney Love, and packed with her wedding dress in a small knapsack shaped like a teddy bear." Courtney Love conferred with monks from Namgyal Ithaca several times, culminating in a trip to Ithaca along with some of Cobain's cremains.
Love prayed and chanted with the monks as part of a ritual consecration of the ashes. Dickinson continues, "The teddy bear was opened, and the monks emptied the ashes and the wedding dress onto a table...As they shook out the dress, some of the ashes drifted up into the air. "We inhaled a little bit of Kurt that day," says someone who was there. The ashes were brushed into a container and put onto the altar at the monastery."
Some of Cobain's ashes were left with the monks here to complete the consecration process. Then they were formed into tsatsas, Buddhist images made of clay. A Tibetan Buddhist artisan crafted a small nirvana stupa shrine to house them.

Weird how Courtney never mentioned her cheating as a reason for Kurt's alleged suicide, she did finally admit to it after all. I think it's because if it got out that Kurt had a prenup, was divorcing her cheating ass, and she wouldn't have gotten a cent, that would be be the perfect motive to have him murdered and look pretty bad for her right? "He must have been psychic or something, I almost did one time, and he knew it. ... I have no idea how he knew it. The plan didn't ever go anywhere. Nothing happened, but ... the response to it was he took 67 Rohypnols and ended up in a coma because I thought about cheating on him. I mean, f---." She didn't love him, why cheat if she did?, That was only a month before he died. I can't wait for the day Kurt's good name is restored and Courtney, Cali, and Allen are behind bars.

Yup. I'm no conspiracy theorist and my hate for Cuntney might make me biased but I still wouldn't say she played a big part in his death if it weren't for all the inconsistencies and sus actions taken before his death. I've looked into interviews, reports, corresponded with Tom Grant myself and heard what the first responders themselves had to say (via interviews on KZread) and his death is extremely dodgy. Norm Stamper, who was Chief of Police in Seattle in '94, even wishes they looked deeper and didn't dismiss it as suicide so soon. He admits they made a huge mistake and if he were still CoP, he'd reopen the case for full and thorough investigation. Whether it was murder or suicide, she had a massive hand in Kurt's demise. She drove the hand that pushed that fit's plunger and pulled that trigger..whether he did it to himself or not.

Cheers.

Kurt had several clinical indicators for suicide. Suicide ran in his family, which is a very compelling reason for someone to finally go through with it. Many of those actually close to him sensed his life would be short. And the supposed murder hypotheses are shoddy at best. Pretty much absurd to suggest he was murdered. The scene of his death was so shoddily handled, I don't think anyone can say what really went on above that greenhouse with any real certainty.

  • @gregoryholstein3033

    @gregoryholstein3033

@@matthewcohen7488 The “suicide runs in the family” has been debunked many years ago. It’s more of CLs myth telling, she says both of Kurts uncles committed suicide and it’s just not true. One uncle, he was a policeman, went to a bar, his gun dropped to the ground and accidentally went off killing him instantly. Another uncle had been drinking, he fell down a flight of stairs, and died of his injuries days later in hospital. These are the 2 CL states were “suicides”. Be careful of CL and her lies, she been pushing the “Kurt is/was suicidal “ narrative since before Kurt died. There is a preponderance of evidence to support the murder theory, both circumstantial & direct, it’s been debated for years and doesn’t abate because CL had Kurt killed and people are not naive enough to think Kurt committed suicide. I made this comment for you to have the correct information, do with it what you will. Cheers.

As a real-deal, true Kurt/Nirvana fan, even as a 45 year old man, I still find the “casual” Nirvana fans to be highly annoying (not insinuating that’s what you are, of course). You know the ones...never listened to Kurt’s music prior to his death, all they know are the big hits, and they know little to nothing about the kind, gentle soul Kurt was. Or that he was very much into social justice and women’s rights issues, or that he was an exceptional artist, etc. It’s really cool to find out all of this detailed info about the Buddhist rituals because I, myself, became a practicing Buddhist back in the late ‘90s. And this confirms to me all over again just how deep and interesting Kurt was and is yet another reason that I love the man.

Dealing with the remains of loved ones is always a pain. My Dad died like 4 years ago. My step mom and half-sisters were supposed to do some ceremony with his ashes where they paddle out into the ocean on surfboards and sprinkle some there but that never ended up happening. I was supposed to get some of his ashes but I never did. I went to college for funeral science and have worked in a few funeral homes. It's always drama. And tbh I don't know if I want to be burdened with lugging around someone's ashes for the rest of my life anyway. Doesn't seem healthy. But everyone is different. If it was up to me I wouldn't want anything done with my body. Just throw it in the ditch and let nature take its course. Plus that's cheaper and I'm broke af. lol

I remember it well as I had just left home for the first time to go to university, was feeling homesick, and suddenly I heard this new release of theirs for the first time being played in a record store. NANCY BLUDGEON, Yes it was a great video. This may seem cynical but I don’t think CL did this out of the goodness of her heart. I think she was making sure Kurt reached “Nirvana” in the afterlife, ensuring his soul was at peace, she didn’t want Kurt angry, especially with her, she didn’t want his angry spirit haunting her. It was smart, CL is smart , she’s also cunning & duplicitous, and doesn’t do anything that doesn’t serve a purpose for herself. Narcissistic sociopath, with homicidal tendencies, I think Kurt had her number after the first murder attempt in Rome, but by then the wheels were set in motion. Cheers NANCY.

"why didnt you just stay". To be fair to Kurt for once Courtney, you knew Kurt was at home on April 2, alive! confirmed. Then you called a p.i. to find your 'missing husband' on 3rd and said you have no idea where he could be! Then you told him to look everywhere but his home. The p.i. couldve found him if only you told him what you knew but this was about alibi. Her eulogy is a sick sociopathic psychopathic rage about how mad she was that Kurt was indifferent to the band, money, and her by that time. She justifies the killing by calling him an asshole (for non compliance to her wishes causing his death). She wont ever admit it, but that exactly what we are confronted with. Poor foolish and juvenile Kurt. Shouldve known.

YES!! He was leaving the band and divorcing her and she couldnt let that happen. And well, we know what happened next and it wasnt by his hand. He had way to much H in him to even pull the trigger. After taking that amount, he would have passed right out. So there was no way he arranged his stuff then pulled the trigger, absolutley no way. He was murdered and that PI Tom knew it. Why SPD wont reopen the case is beyond me. All they saw was a dead junkie and if they had looked closer, they would have seen it to. He didnt shoot himself. End of story. RIP You beautiful soul, Kurt Cobain. We still miss and love you.

Jason Alba, I agree with you. The greenhouse was a staged crime scene but CL hired Callis father to demolish it, so no more crime scene. CL had Kurt cremated, so no chance of an exhumation. CL killed Kurt over him wanting a divorce and she wanted all the money. I’m sure you know of all the circumstantial evidence, and the “suicide note “ being the direct evidence. Cheers Jason.

@Spikey Skippy That isn’t at all true. She had a chin implant to make her face slimmer...she doesn’t have a dimple. And she had some minor lip filler work done. She has always had Kurt’s stunning eyes. Also, no one really remembers or imagines her as the way she looked before. She looked just like Courtney when she was young. But the way Frances looks now is the same way she’s looked for the last 8 or so years. And she certainly didn’t do it to “look more like Kurt”. She actually has always kind of distanced herself from being known as “Kurt’s kid”, as she said it’s embarrassing to her because she did nothing to earn the notoriety.

Thanks Scott. I know one of the tibetan monks involved, my experience was is he's a mystic of sorts too and completed the highest tantric studies with DL, they would have done good job and taken v seriously for Kurt. They are very discreet of course. Another monk Courtney liaised with has passed (I gather she had wanted them to start a centre in seattle but it was too much at the time, or wrong time). I think the monks have now moved from the house they were in then, similar area. Those are/were the Dalai Lama senior monks, based in USA (so highly trained, senior etc). That's why called Namgyal, the Dalai Lama's monastery in India is Namgyal. The prayers technically are usually done straight away as person passes for 49 days, and perhaps intermittent thereafter, to guide the soul through bardos etc. So as Courtney was quite late, but ok, they still do and still benefits Kurt and they might have adapted a bit. The guy who made the stupa may do interview I don't know, but probably discreet better. But I guess to say true fans could be reassured that prayers were done well, and I worked for Masters, I have seen that these things can work and benefit on the 'other side (and our side)', so to say... The monks would never say, but Courtney created quite a stir there, stuffed them around for many months etc. Also it's not the thing that the stupa stays there. Kurt was into buddhism a bit, non religious, he talked in interview about eastern philosophy trying to see the Gyuto monks several times but kept missing them. I know the monks respected Kurt and I got the feeling they thought Kurt was doing ok. ps - you said tsa tsa right Scott! Namgyal though, soft g xo thx

Did you watch the Barbara walters interview with Courtney? The full length one shows Courtney’s Buddhist shrine with Kurt’s ashes in a box . Also the teddy bear in the Evan dando picture is a bag. It’s a pinkish teddy bear with backpack straps. I also read In one of the books that some ashes were planted into the roots of a willow tree at the lake Washington house. Then the place u were at … seems like he’s in many places. Wish we fans had a place to go.
