I rescued a bobcat kitten once. I was 15 and I found him all alone, his mother had been killed by a coyote and I felt obligated to take him in. My dad was worried initially but we started feeding him and just sort of learned along the way. My one female cat had been fixed but she raised a litter of kittens once and decided to raise him too. I called him Rob, we learned his feeding requirements and he was never hungry. My female cat Maz raised him right. Vet never complained about him and he was my constant companion till about 6 years ago. Rob was slowing down and getting old, he knew it and so did I. I had taken to giving him stuff for his joints and stuff for his aches and pains. The night he died we were discussing what to do when he just walked into the room curled up beside me and just slowly and quietly passed on. He saved us the pain of putting him down by doing it himself after nearly 20 years as a loved pet. Rob passed his lessons on how to cat to a pair of male kittens I adopted when he was 13 or 14. I still walk the woods hoping to find another one like my pal Rob Zombie the bobcat.

@@QUINTUSMAXIMUS I used to have a cat that looked a lot like a bobcat. Little stubby tail , and the coloring was close. In the winter when she got her winter coat she had the cheek fur like a bobcat. And not a bobcat characteristic, she had polydactylism (extra toes). Beautiful sweet cat. She disappeared for a year and reappeared. She must have had kittens in that year and a dog must have gotten them because when she came back, she didn't like dogs near her kittens. I lost her when she snuck out when she was due to have kittens. Could not find her at all. Three weeks later my neighbor called to tell me she attacked their dog. He told me her kittens were playing on the lumber in their back yard and his daughter set their dog on them. Mama cat went after the dog and the lady got bit when she tried to stop them from fighting. Even though my cat was vaccinated the dog catcher took her and she was put down. At least I got the kittens so they could be bottle fed. They were too young to lose their mom. Had to go to court about it. Dog catcher said I violated the leash law. The judge got mad at him because he was stupid and thought leash law applied to cats. Dropped the case. I knew a lady that had a bobcat regular cat hybrid. He was the result of a bobcat mating with her cat. He was big with a stubby tail and he was quite the Romeo with the local female cats. Lots of stubby tailed kittens. He ended up saving the old lady's life when a man tried to invade her home. He broke out the window in her door and was reaching for the lock when the cat shredded his arm. Later he came back when she wasn't home and broke a window and threw in poisoned meat. Poor cat. PS. Almost forgot. True. The trouble is that sane decisions rarely come from any federal, state or local 'government' source.
People are absurdly mean. This cat has been loved, cared for, protected and is every bit as part of the family to them as our cats or dogs are to us. The person who complained .....what a sad disgusting lonely POS. Their situation was not dangerous or harming others.

AWWW BABIE LET THEM KEEP IT
I would move to a state that allows it.
They should be able to do a request for information on the report and who reported it.
I would move to where I was allowed to have a bobcat so I could keep my baby😭
That poor cat must be going through hell. He was ripped from his family! I have domestic cats and when we are gone for a week, they are SOOOO happy when we come back and get them from the pet boarder. I can't imagine what the cat is going through, much less the people. It's like a divorce where you get visitation. Like having your baby ripped from you.
Bobcats don't need to be potty trained. They always look for water to go in as it masks their scent from prey. Sometimes they will go in the sink, but they always look for water to pee in so usually its the toilet.
Ummmmm. There's something to be said for keeping your circle small....
The Government needs to stay out of our lives !
Please save the bob cat don't kill it they deserve to live God please save the bob cat and its owner from this wicked society

Whoever reported this family, I hope you know there is a special place in hell for you.
This beautiful creature is potty trained in a human toilet. He doesn't belong in the wild. He's happy. He's living his best life. He has shelter, food, and all the love he can take. Let's destroy that and this perfectly beautiful soul. What's wrong with certain aspects of society. Who would complain about something so majestic. Humans can be so ugly and disappointing. God Bless this beautiful creature and these loving humans. I pray with all my heart for a Happy outcome. ❤❤❤❤❤
Whoever complained has no soul.

@@guineapiglady2841 The bobcat "child". You're the Guinea Pig Lady. Surely you can relate?
Don't let them take this precious animal away. Praying for you.
When I lived in Joshua Tree, there was a woman who had a bobcat because she found it and thought it was a kitten. Eventually it got too used to interacting with humans so she had to keep it. It behaved better than her domestic cats.she’d previously owned decades before.
This situation is not the norm though! Destroying him should be illegal. Hope the neighbor feels really good now. A-hole
This is ridiculous. Give the bobcat back, have the couple sign a form saying they are responsible for him. And if he gets loose and injures/kills another persons pet or another person (especially a child) that they will take full responsibility and face potential criminal charges. And leave the matter at that. The state government should be focusing on other important issues like solving homelessness and getting criminals off the streets. Not go after a couple and their pet over a dumb technicality. All this trouble because someone snitched.

These seem like good people, I wish them and the boncat the best, he's already being traumatized by being away from them.
What a shame. There should be some way to make an exception.

So let me get this straight.... the family that took care of this bobcat its whole life, trained it, loved it, cant continue doing so because its apparently against the law. Not only that, but if the government cant find a place for the bobcat, they are just going to kill it. Like why can't the family continue taking care of the boncat? They clearly know what they are doing and the bobcat trusts them. You're literally going to kill this poor guy over something he has no control over.
The judge should be fighting for its life -NOT the bob cat that has BEEN living happily this whole time.
I had one when I was a kid he was great. He just showed up at our house one day. He was with us for two years. And he just wandered on one day.. he would come back and visit the dog once in awhile. About that time we moved. I do understand the concern. They are incredibly strong. You don't understand that till It grab you
GIVE IT BACK WITH A PERMIT FOOLS
I love this little kitty 💕 I went thru horrors when I had an arctic wolf. I completely understand what they're dealing with. It's ridiculous! We used to be able to have ocelots, caracals and other exotic cats. WTF does SHE KNOW about what's a "proper environment?" My dog went everywhere! Snow, woods, oceans, movie sets and some of the nicest hotels on the planet! She was adored and she was a princess! I got so tired of hearing how 'abused' she was cuz she wasn't scraping for food in the woods somewhere. I bet BANE is one of the happiest cats God ever made! MOVE TO FLORIDA if you have to. Other people should mind their own business! BANE would rather be with HIS PEOPLE, I can assure you that much.

@@fosminclorin a danger how? I’ve lived with wolves half my life. Wolves have been stigmatized by BS wives’ talked for centuries out of Europe. Yet they were some of the first domesticated pets. A tiger I can understand might be a danger, but a dog? I also didn’t hear anything about the bobcat being a danger either. In America we used to be able to have other exotic cats. They’re just small interesting cats, like ocelots, which are like mini leopards. Somebody said ooohh danger! And that was the end of that. Chimps on the other hand. I wouldn’t trust as far as I could kick water uphill. But that’s just me.
