False Albacore in Vineyard Sound | S18 E08

Спорт

Albie season has its highs and lows with unpredictable weather, heavy boat traffic, and finicky fish testing an angler's patience. But with the first run of a hooked albie, all is forgiven, and the fisherman is reminded why, the 6 or so weeks of albie season are some of the most exciting of the entire year.
In this episode, Chris Megan and Kevin Blinkoff fish out of Falmouth Harbor in a effort to cure their cases of "albie fever," and while the fish don't make it easy, they definitely make it fun.

it was such a fun fishery back when no one cared! now everyone would fly right through a fleet of boats and wreck it for everyone just to get the chance to catch a glorify mackerel.. you guys should make a video that explains common courtesy and respect for others on the water!

I saw a bunch of Albie Butch's last year and tried my hand at catching them, but failed because of my presentation. I'm hoping this is the year I could get back out there and get into my first false albacore. All the videos I watch from you guys and other anglers look like so much fun to chase them.

I taught my wife to saltwater fish about 12 years ago. She caught her first real good fish last year. A false albacore at the narrows in wareeham, mass. She was thrilled beyond measure.

This was lots of fun to watch. Can't wait to get the hobie out there later this summer for some action. Oh yeah.

Torpedoes! Wife caught her first off Lobsterville Beach, nine pounds of TNT,after a give and take struggle of some ten minutes, she looked like she'd gone nine rounds with the late, great Muhammad Ali. Love albie burgers btw, don't care who knows it either.

The most important lesson i learned from a lot of albies last year is be patient and resist the run n gun. Helps everyone. And it's electric chicken....

Blind cast blind cast blind cast. Do not wait for the boils. The fish are there and your lure isn't lost amongst the bait ball.

So I heard that knots like uni knots affects the action of false albacore lures, does it really matter or would a loop knot be a anglers best bet?

The fish look like Bonito - is it the same fish? Very nice video. I saw the bait with the hook pointing inwards - please let me know the advantage of having the rear hook pointing inwards - I have always pointed the front hook forward and the rear hook backwards?

No, green bonito and false albies are two different species. Very similar though, bonito tend to be more slender and look more like a mackeral

We call them Bonita here in NW Florida, usually catch them on a gotcha lure very consistently. 99% people here say they aren't good to eat but I've seared like tuna and they were great.

I know its tempting to wait to see busting fish but keep blind casting you cant catch if your lure isnt in the water
