Fallow Buck, Dragons & St George

Спорт

Using the latest equipment from HIKMICRO Peter Jones & Jonty Drew hunt Fallow Buck in a region of myth and legend.
Legend has it that Dragon Hill is the very spot where St George slew the dragon, it's also an area renowned for high numbers of Fallow deer which are playing havoc with the biodiversity of the region.
During an exciting morning deer stalking Jonty and Peter manage to take a mature Fallow buck in the build up to the autumn rut.

This is my first year getting into stalking and I consider this channel invaluable in terms of the education and passing on experience to anyone who doesn't have easy access to an experienced hunter. Keep up the fantastic work Peter.

I write this for the benefit of my Australian hunting mates who may not have had first hand experience hunting in the UK. I am Australian and fortunate to have hunted fallow deer in the UK. The experience is quite different to Australia. The first thing is in the UK you MUST carry your firearm muzzle pointing to the ground. It is a strictly adhered protocol. The countryside is quite open and even the wooded areas provide frequent shooting lanes unlike Australia where the scrub is often thick and stalking on noisy dry crunchy under burden takes some skill. Hunting rifles in the UK are always moderated, unlike Australia where ignorance of the benefits to hunters long term hearing is ignored by bureaucracy in order to keep the population fearful and generally uneducated in terms of proper use of firearms. In the UK dwelling houses are often quite close so the back drop (always important) takes on extra special significance and the need to be aware of your surroundings especially at night is paramount. Unlike Australia game management in the UK is a valued profession that requires formal training, examination and licensing. Hunting and game management is considered a worthy pursuit and necessary for the balance to be maintained.

Not sure about the muzzle-down protocol... never heard that before. Must have been a rule on the estate you shot on.

Thanks Paul. We got some nice footage from the highlands, but in truth we are unsure if we are going to devote another whole film to Glen Etive. Nonetheless, the footage will no doubt materialise somewhere, because it would be a trajedy not to use it! Thanks for watching.

Been trying to get into stalking for over 5 years have all my certificates level 1 and 2, I have tried over 75 farms in 5 years, and I have never seen a sport that is full of nepotism the way shooting is, it no wonder the public think it's for people with money, if you face doesn't fit, ie no chance
