@@diswazzi1683 ...They're slaves. Even if the Legion utilized soldiers with severe astigmatism, would they give glasses to their chattel slaves? The point is so that you don't get the narrative incongruity of the slaves wearing what could be considered a luxury item in the wastes.

Just a guess, but I think the reason why the riot gear helmet counts as glasses and not a hat is that they wanted player characters with the four eyes perk to get the +1 perception with the riot gear, it’s a pretty techy looking helmet, the visor probably helps with vision somehow

But it still doesn't give you more perception if you have the trait. So taking the trait and wearing this helmet you'd still just have one less perception than without. I think it was supposed to be assigned to the eye and hat slots but they forgot to assign it to the hat slot.

@@viciousthehedgehog9585 I normally wait untill I have power armour before going to either of those places or temporarily make do with a rad suit. Tbh there aren't many highly irradiated areas which most people would want to go at a low level. Unless of course you're running mods which change how radiation works or something. Fallout 4 didn't do much right, but it did make radiation actually something to worry about.

Atomic! and knowledge of the areas with rad-x work just as well for speedrunning.

elite riot helmet with 1st recon beret is just unmatched as headgear and will always be. tho it is because of a bug but whatever

The space helmet is S tier imo, since you can combine it with the elite riot gear helmet which gives you the highest dt possible for a helmet

I’ve been keeping the hazmat cowl on every playthrough now. It’s just a nice quality of life to not have to use cateye or ghost sight. Also being able to run or walk with night vision is nice compared to having to sneak and use sneak sight on the riot helmets.

I'll start working next thursday and I'm enjoying your tier lists. I feel them as a farewell to my youth. I'm living a new phase of my life. I'm both excited and sad, prolly also due to the fact that a significant person of my life will soon move away from our town and I have not found time and courage to tell her I'm madly in love with her. In this melancholic period, my old and trusty NV is with me. And nothing is more both exciting and melancholic than Fallout. I'll travel down the Lonesome Road, and I know that in the end both success and her love await me. It's just time to buckle up the "power armor" and to unholster the Big Iron on my hip.

Yeah you can get a lot out of the Elite Riot Gear.

You can also wear the lucky shades with the blastmaster helmet. Personally for me that would boost it up a tier.

Another benefit of Motor Runner's Helmet is that, since it's a quest item, you can bring it to Sierra Madre (along with Fist of Rawr and the Van Graff Combat Armor). That extra perception and especially melee is hella useful even if the helmet itself is weak.

What I find hilarious is that you can give Boone some Legion stuff to haul around for you, and he will wear the Legion Centurion helmet.

Combat Helmet, Reinforced and Mark II are my go-to helmets, i literally dont do Lonesome Road until i'm about ready to go to Hoover Dam and end my run, so the Elite Riot Gear has never appealed to me much, just because i dont have enough time to enjoy it.

15:38 you can wear glasses with Salt-Upon-Wounds' helmet (at least I can, correct me if that's wrong). In my opinion, it's a better choice for a crit-based unarmed or melee build than charging in wearing a beret.

Current playthru ran straight to Dead Money and I've been rocking this goofy sierra madre security helmet and armor for a long long time now

Definitely using Salt On Wounds headdress to have a similar effect to Luck Recon combo without being completely busted.

You contiuously pushing the vexillarius helmet back constantly was absolutely infuriating, dude! :D

I normally just end up with the Elite Riot helmet tbh, it's the best looking and still one of the strongest for DT, plus it's bonus effects.

Combat helmet mk II has a special "effect" in which you can equipped the rebreather while wearing the helmet making you look pretty slick and providing huge benefits. So with rebreather its S tier cause rebreather provides some DT but without rebreather attached id put it in A. due to the total DT being 8 with the helmet and rebreather.

The metal helmets are pretty rare for some reason.

the marked beast eyes helmet from lonesome road so it lets you equip 1st recon and you can ADDITIONALLY wear GLASSES with it, lucky shades being my go to choice. just so ya know, MB eyes for me is bottom of S tier for that

Most of my disagreements would be from helmets that allow other gear like a rebreather or glasses, and helmets that don't. Space suit helmet is broken, and can equip several extra pieces with it, helmets that don't cover the face can combine with glasses or rebreathers. Metal helmets count as face covering, so they lose points compared to combat helmets. And any of the riot helmets can use the valence radii pieces, since those count as hats the same as berets.

Yeah the Elite Riot Helmet is pretty strange with the interactions it can have.

Fiend helmets are the most valuable helmets in the game because you can jury rig any light helmet. Also you can use metal armor to jury rig Riot Armor Helmets.

You put the best NCR helmet (the one that you can wear glasses/goggles with) at the bottom of the three.

Most people dump charisma in NV anyways so for the metric assload of charisma 1 characters the Tesla helmet doesn’t have a downside

The Riot Gear Tecnically is from the United States Special Ops (I believe it was that) So that means is not alligned with any faction, is alligned with the United States itself So that means this suits better a god courier than the duster, change my mind

F3's progression is far more linear, full of strictly better items. Fallout 2 is really the only one that works for a tier list (outside of perks, which would work in 1/2/Tactics), where you've got things like Hunting Rifle vs. FAL where which is better is actually a tossup (FAL has burst and better magazine, hunting rifle has ammo that's far more common early on without farming random encounters).
