Besides, other than changing the paint jobs, how different do you expect hockey mask to look? "Collect All 3!" or 12 or 250. Collecting trophies and getting people excited over things they don't need goes back centuries - if not millenniums. It must have something to do with hunter/gatherer DNA.

If Bethesda doesn't respect my time, I won't give them any. Simple. Great work, you two.

KZreadrs like Mr West Tek can do this because KZread is basically their only job. Normal people don't have that kind of time to play for 6 or 8 hours a day, and tbh, doing the west tek xp loop is just boring.

@@jvazacas while true, even if they can do it 6-8 hours…if you really want the ranks and only play for an hour, that’s just one week of play. It sucks and it’s boring but if you really want the season rewards it seems better than the other options. I personally try not to worry about the season at all. I’ll look at my dailies and weeklies and do them organically or spend an half hour to an hour grinding both out at the start of the week, but then I just do whatever. I personally despise the season setup (I hate all battlepasses but had some fun with the old scoreboard). The season setup alone embarrassed me because I just got a friend to start the game and I hadn’t touched it since shoot for the stars.

@sumyunggui8750 says who? There's ads on his videos, and he has a large portion of his viewers that are not subscribed, like most KZread channels have. Add in the super chats during live streams and you would be surprised how much money one can make. His channel is monetized. Hating on him for it is childish at best.

If they lowered the price of FO1st by 25%, they’d likely have a subscriber count jump of around 50-100%. Also, if they were to cut the cost of Atomic Shop items by 25-50% (for “digital” items!), they’d probably get twice as many sales! The reality is, I believe that Bethesda is pricing themselves out of making MORE money, while at the same time doing things like this and trying to “force” players to spend more money if they want this stuff. When all they have to do is make it more affordable and it would work itself out.

Unfortunately, atom shop prices are steadily rising. I remember when 1500 atoms was the most expensive stuff you would find, and most bundles were 1000 to 1200 atoms. Now, I'm seeing more 2000 atom bundles. That monetization guy I saw on the video that talked about the change from scoreboard to seasons looks like a scam artist.

This should be shown to every Fallout 76 player. I don't care much about cosmetics so I'll just grind to get the best FO 1st tent, which seems like a must.

Fallout 76 feels like they took their ideas strait from Vegas casinos. They have mastered the art of making players think they are winning when in actuality, they are stealing your money and time without earning it.

Have you played Destiny? The latest Destiny DLC & season is $100 if you want to experience anything new. It's easy to play Fallout 76 and experience virtually all of the game content without spending anything above buying Game Pass. How many other live service games can make that claim? It's true, many live services game developers have casino experts on the payroll, including Bungie. I agree with the criticism in general, but to my eyes, Fallout 76 doesn't exploit players. They do give whales an outlet to buy mostly cosmetics and. keep the game alive. It comes with the territory.

​@@martyk656don't forget that destiny arrived at its final monetisation form gradually. It used the old "frog in a pan" metaphor to slowly turn up the heat on the players while hoping most wouldn't notice to begin with, and would be too invested and hooked to complain too much when they finally DID notice. While I agree that Bethesda's model isn't as egregious as many others, I think it's important to include the caveat "yet." They want as many of us to stop being freeloaders (even though many of us non-fo1st players either bought the game or pay for Gamepass) and buy a subscription. And while I sympathise with that desire to an extent, it doesn't make me remotely prepared to go to bat for them just because their current model, which is only into its 2nd season, isn't as bad as others which have been around for years. Give it time, basically.

Casino owners and designers have been consulted for game development since World Of Warcraft - they literally admitted that they consulted casino designers, so that they could make the game(s) more addictive and compulsive to players, getting them to "keep playing" more, etc. there is a ton of psychological things going on in games today. it's kind of sad

The writing is very much on the wall for those following the current fo76 season, and we disregard the potential of the game to shift gears into more of a grindy FOMO game at our peril.

That’s just it. Maybe they know more about the millions of people who just joined and are pandering to them. The demographic might have changed. Maybe they went woke. We don’t actually know what’s going on inside the offices and strategy meetings. I want to think that they have a plan and that the data shows this to be a successful way to get more customers and make more money, but I might also be giving them too much credit. Maybe they really are just throwing poop at the wall.

Also you get 1000 free atoms now instead of 2000 on old scoreboards. At least they brought back atoms as repeatable rewards this time.

@@Rain0015 Believe it or not, there were players confused by the old scoreboard. They didn't realize you needed to claim it it from the scoreboard menu and felt Bethesda made it too complex. (Yeah.) One of these people in a Discord I'm in loves the new version because it makes more sense to them. The new scoreboard is the old old one with more steps.

The map expansion is different. They just released them both on the same day. We're comparing the new season format to the old season format, and the data shows that the experience was seriously downgraded.

I'm a long time player and far from insulted. Last season was good and so far this one is awesome. When y'all were exploiting the bonus score XP you were grinding to 2- 300. Now that you get to pick your buffs lvl 150 is unheard of 😂 grow up this is an amazing game. Basically free and you crybabies are stanking up the pre TV series community.

I'm happy with the update I've been wanting more to the map for years. I'm just still a bit disappointed with the switch from scoreboard to seasons. I think it should've been some combination of both, I miss the look of the scoreboards and getting the picture after completing it. I liked the idea of the tickets but don't care for the seasons pages/tabs, needing an amount of things bought to purchase something is probably the main reason

season 16 disgusted me already, Having to work fulltime, and hell, have a life... I was only able to get to level 146. Now season 17 is a complete joke, and ill not be bothering. Add the bug fiascos the last 24 hours? worse come to worse? ill go play FO4 again. AT least i already paid for that in full without penalty.

This is a rough season. Tickets were a bad call, especially if you're fo1st and have to work twice as hard after everyone says 1st is 'pay2win'. I got it for more benefits and fun, not more work. Especially since i only have 4 hours a day after work to do dailies and can't focus on repeatables. Im still going to work on this season, but it's a shame i still have to pick and choose the more needed items to buy first before it ends. Just hope they can tell us the time it ends this time. Yup. 1st should be a 'pay to progress' not a pay to grind longer. Most other online subs for games tend to give you the perks of 'skipping the lines' and allowing you to put in less effort.

Ok, pretty cool video but I have a few questions when you talk about "minimum rank required for 100" are you including bonus page 1 in this? or are you only including everything before that? if yes to the last question does that mean "minimum rank required for 150" is referring to bonus page 1? and finally are you including consumables or not in these calculations?

Rank 100 calculation includes having enough tickets to buy BP1 because they are the final rewards for the season. Rank 150 assumes buying one of every item on BP2 because we need a standard measurement. We did not include any additional buffs or score boosters other than the persistent ones in the rewards, nor the repeatable, because those are too variable between players. We are also assuming someone bought everything along the way. So the calculations are the worst case scenario, but the most accurate comparison to the previous scoreboard we had in S15 and earlier.

TYVM for the call out. Bethesda as been $hit. 6 years and only one map expan. I love the lore and everything else but it really pisses me off how they treated the game. I appreciate the number crunch. For me, there is no one item that I want to have “right now.” The Cremator is a one-of-a-kind weapon like the Nuka Launcher. The Trailer Survival Tent is the one item I really want, and I can wait for it. Like you, I purchased last season but not this one.

Just to clarify - where you give the number of weeks required for the board, is that just doing daily / weeklies - or is that hardcore playing and hitting the weekly repeatable a multiple times a day? (not necessarily farming score eg West Tek)

Due to last season and this season not having a score board poster kind of final reward and the fact that i was 25 tickets short of my last unlock last season, im so upset im juat going to push the scoreboard this season to the scythe and then chill not even worry about trying to complete the board

Most of the items in the season reward will never see the light of day and will only get purchased to access the last page. Yeah there a few people who will take the time and make a huge effort to make a shelter or camp crammed with items that are usually found in landfills but the only time i enter someone elses shelter is because its a challege requirement not because i want to get trapped in a shelter that taste forgot.

The point is that in the old format, at Rank 100 you got 100 items, and more if you were FO1st. So that's the bar for comparison. Now at Rank 100 you can't get all the items until Rank 119, and then you're only getting 83 items if you're not FO1st. If you're FO1st and want to get everything that you used to get at Rank 100, you have to be Rank 148. So comparing it to the old scoreboard system, it's a huge downgrade.

@Gamer_Aviator I understand the premise of the old and new scoreboard, I feel it would be better served if you didn't have to make a set number of purchases to access the final page, sure level to 150 and if there are items you really want or peek your interest buy them but allow the player to decide. As for standard vs FO1 why didn't they just make a score point difference e.g. 10 for FO1 and 20 for standard.

@Gamer_Aviator in the old seasons you had no real choice worked you way around the board collecting every "reward". Now essentially you can pick and choose true a standard member has to get nearly everything before bonus page but FO1 does not, every ten levels you can collect atoms if you want last season i split between boosters and perk points so for this season I am stocked on boosters, I didn't buy every power armour skin and glass bauble I purchased enough to get me over the line, yes I did buy some FO1 only items one because I liked them and two because it was better than the alternatives, previously I had no choice.

Awesome breakdown vid newly subscribed because of it :). I will personally play like I normally do. Complete each day’s daily s and reroll a weekly in hopes of an epic and save weeklys for Esther Monday or a double score weekend (I’ll also pop a booster on double score weekend OR if I have them so that it gets the transition on Tuesday so it hits both weekly’s and both days) besides that I’m mainly just going for the tent on rank 95 cause I only have the basic survival tent atm.

You also realize that last season there was 1200 atoms available for non season pass and non fallout 1st members this season there is 1200 but 200 have been moved from a reward spot to the last bonus page which means for a standard player ,yep even less atoms . I expect this scenario to continue on upcoming seasons. For the folks who don't pay for atoms , season passes or fallout 1st the rewards get less and less every new season. And I do expect bethesda to eventually raise the atom cost of the season pass . Only time will tell but I don't see the standard player getting much out of seasons. I really don't like where this is going at all . Eventually I can see that if you dont pay seasons will be worthless

For me it comes down to 1 question as someone who doesn't pay for season pass and doesn't pay for fallout 1st what is the point to grind through this season and the answer is, there really isn't any point i don't get enough atoms to even really get anything and the rewards are not worth the grind . There is no incentive for me to grind through these seasons. Unlike the previous scoreboards where I did have incentive even as a non fallout 1st member. Its just not worth my time now

If you ask me the change they should do is xp leveling until 150 not 100. The way it is done now "forces" you to rush to 100 so you can use as much dailies and weeklies as possible to reach 150. But even with that change, that's a lot of xp if you don't do westtek runs. And what about a price of 0 tickets for Fallout 1st rewards...

Do you folks have a comparative video between items from season 17/16 to season 15/14? I think non fallout 1st players are getting screwed over repeatedly since they changed from "scoreboard" to "seasons". I think that is a lot more important than comparing 16 to 17.

We made a similar video for S16: kzread.info/dash/bejne/lmyCxZiPidrKabg.html. We are both FO1st, and I agree with you that it’s wrong they’re making all of us work harder. However, we try to make the videos accommodating for everyone, so we don’t spend a lot of time on the impact for a particular segment. I think the FO1st players know they’re getting a bad deal already.

I love fallout but i wouldnt call 76 a true fallout game i tried for 2 years to convince myself but if its not better at the end of the year im gonne leave that game i dont need to throw my money in bethesda's black hole

But sometimes, I think in go back to Fallout 4, even me having 1400 hours of FO4. Sometimes I even think in to play Skyrim, which I have 3 000 hours. For now, I'll just explore the new region and try to discover the secrets and lore of the local

That moment when inflation is so bad it even affects the fake currency in your video game.

Actually, I do like the fact I can buy what I want, rather than the scoreboard way, where I HAD to take it. But to me anyway, there’s way too much “useless” stuff. Road signs, surf board shelves, forklifts, WTH ?? So, I’m only interested in things that are gonna DO something for me. So that last page is what I aim for, and I hear they did make those repeatable like last season, so that’s cool. Just my opinions.

im glad almost everything thats worth playing for is just in the game and not the battlepass. all the new event weapons and armors/outfits are so much better than having them tied to a limited time battlepass

I'm really only interested in those player icons on the final page, which will be the only reason I'll grind this season.

I don't even use their donation box, just because it will generate ammo and items and probably liquidate old players' items, so they won't be able to help in the future.

Started playing again after the show, was one of many of flipped their desk over on launch day even after playing the beta it somehow got worse. Been absolutely loving my time and clocked around 500 hours since the day after the show landed, brought the misses a brand new pc so she can join me and we been having hell of a time. This update and season has kinda deflated us.. just feels off. The map update feels half baked, broken quests requiring relaunches, little things like no new food from turkeys? Side quests were like what? 2? And one main quest line? One new event aside from the nuke. It just all feels like 5 people worked on it.

Sorry that you're disappointed. Don't let that spoil the rest of the game for you. It's still a good game, if you take out the seasons and the bugs. The bugs will get fixed eventually, and hopefully if enough people complain about the seasons, they'll get better too. This is only the 2nd season in the new format, so there's a chance they'll revise it. We can hope, right?

You say they will hopefully fix the bugs, when? It's been years and not any better, now even worse. I blue screen when I swap guns, open a stash box, go into the legendary exchange, turn around, turn on vats. It is now a huge list of what will blue screen a player. And not just closing the game a total restart of the machine I play on. I happily will take the 2 and only 2 items I want and won't grind beyond that for the season. It a size 9 shoe in the back of the pants swiftly. I feel the did a very poor job on the seasons and especially this one.

How do you rank how with caps

I usually complete the season in bout 3 to 4 weeks(not including the optional 2 pages)

Great breakdown for people that like to spend additional $ on season rewards!

300+ and FO1st player here and I am just buying what I really like and if I don't get to page 100 so be it. Maybe things will change in the next season, cross your fingers for that to happen. Like the way you break down the cost over all the currencies, makes it easier to decide if something is worth it. Great content.

No, but the amount of caps they give in the season and the number of tickets they charge lets you determine the value of an item in caps. Same with atoms, where 150 atoms will buy you 25 tickets, so now you know how much a ticket is worth if you paid real money for the atoms. With algebra we can then transfer the cost of the rewards into currencies we understand the value of and decide if we are being ripped off or not. Like paying $10 for atoms that should cost $1. If you walked into a store and they wanted $50 for a candy bar, you would leave. But if they wanted 50 grains of sand, you would buy it. You understand those values. All we are doing is helping you understand the real value of the season rewards so you can decide if you want to spend your time on getting them.

I might be remembering wrong, but didn't the last season also have more "perk x50" rewards in it?

@@Gamer_Aviator I could be completely wrong, but I could've sworn that there was one on the first couple of pages of rewards and somewhere around or at 100. My reason is I am a new(er) player and used them for getting the second point on legendary perks. But it could be that I got a perk x50 from something else during that time (just started my third month of playing the game), and let's face it during the first 50-75 levels of playing there is a barrage of rewards from achievement milestones and stuff. Heck, it might've been from a fo1 daily login reward or something of that ilk. Thanks for the quick response though. =)

Thank you for your very hard work on this! The Season 17 thing felt lackluster to me from the beginning. At least 16 had the Cremator and mods.

Average cost per item has actually gone up between S16 and S17, and there are fewer items.

I’m only in it for that camper survival tent😂 Just hope they put the chemistry station from last season in the store soon cause I missed out on that lol. Yea the pages looked bare this season.

I started playing again 6 days ago compared to where it was at launch it's definitely better but there are many bugs still. Wish the dev's would put a bug/glitch ticket option with a description page for you to put what is wrong.

I don't mind the duplicated tent (8:29) because it is clearly for those who don't have FO1st to get the skin. I'm one of those who rarely subs FO1st, so survival tents aren't that useful to me.

I'm happy but also very disappointed that you proved my anger correct about getting stiffed on last seasons ending. I missed getting hundreds of perk points by one Tuesday worth of challenges. Thanks for the great video, where do I sign up for the stalkholm club? =P

We are all in the club already. We complain and complain and still play because it’s a fun game.

I came back to season 16 since release, putting in over 200 hours the past several weeks. At first it felt really promising, but ultimately, getting to end game, it feels so lifeless and the lack of care and love really shows. I played everyday hoping to fall in love with Fo76 as I did with it's predecessors, sadly Bethesda doesn't want that, they just want our money without the effort it takes to deserve it :\

Thank you guys for your honest coverage. There is no score boost for regular players and the boosters don't appear until 72. Also, you only get atoms if you pay for 1st so as a regular you get atoms twice but 1st players get atoms 10x. I'm sorry but EVERY player deserves the atom rewards. And someone please explain to me, who the heck wants a set of paddles when you can't even claim the freaking canoe?!!!! It's obvious there are less rewards at a greater cost. I dropped 1st a bit ago and haven't purchased atoms in ages because I refuse to support the increasing greed of Bethesda and their inability to listen to the community. The Scoreboard was fun to progress through and unique. Now I feel like this awful rewards system is just a crappy financial exchange program. I feel totally ripped off and the fact that we are forced to grind more for this trash feels even worse.

I play a lot normally but will be sitting out this season and the main reason is season rewards and the fact you can’t buy extra modules at 150 like last season killed my motivation before I even started, well that and the generic season rewards for 17

I really like the pioneer scout stuff since my main characters backstory is that she was a scout when she entered the vault at a young age before she was subject to her enclave father's secret genetic experiments in the vault, utilizing her scout knowledge when she emerged. ANYWAY, i was hoping for more than what we got in the season so i could push the RP further..

What's a good reward and what's a bad reward is subjective. Thank you for comparing the seasons. That's a lot less subjective. IMO if you compared the new seasons to the last scoreboard it would be eye opening. IMO the old scoreboards were very "Fallout" and rewarded the player for the time that they invested. The new seasons are very Fortnite and extremely anti consumer.

How do you pay for the season? And why not grind the season and at the end if you want fallout 1st rewards get it at the end. I grinded season 16 in two weeks and got to level 55 I think. Not sure if that is good. I was trying to hit the 5,000 caps one more time. But the morning of season 16 ending I had to update fallout 76 and it took so long that I couldn't even play season 16.

On each rewards page is a button to “Rank Up To Here” that lets you pay 150 atoms per rank up to 100. It gives you 25 tickets per rank and unlocks all the pages up to that rank.

In the original scoreboard version you got a reward for every rank, so by rank 100 you had received 100 rewards, and more if you were fallout first. In the new season format, at rank 100 you haven’t earned enough tickets to buy everything available to that point, plus there are only 83 items available for standard players. To earn enough tickets to buy everything through rank 100 you have to get to rank 119. If you’re FO1 you have to get to rank 148. It’s a downgrade from the old format, and paying members are actually forced to work even harder to get their rewards.

I understand there was a lot of work that went into the map expansion while keeping the atomic shop fresh and the season board. But they at least need to give us enough time to make it to repeatables this season to make up for the lack of depth in the season pass.
