Falling in LOVE With The FE350!

Ойын-сауық

After spending over $20,000 in the last video buying our dream bikes, how do I actually feel? In today's video I show you my first ride.. Kinda, and talk about my initial thoughts and feelings towards my new Husqvarna FE350. This really is one hell of a machine and one of the most versatile dirt bikes on the market. It isn't perfect but it is damn close and if you can tell in the tone of my voice I absolutely LOVE this machine. I've grown a lot as a rider over the past few years and my first experiences with the bike were not in the right conditions. Now that I know what I am after this machine makes the most sense for the type of riding we plan to do and I can't wait to build it into the ultimate mountain bashing machine!

I am so happy for you man! Glad you like that FE, it's almost hard to explain when you get a bike that works so well for you, it almost becomes an extension of your body and then with time your brain will just be able to make all the things happen. One of these years I'll have to try out one of these bikes, the last 350 I was on was a KTM and I forget the age, must have been sort of new since it was fuel injected. I recall it having a Rekluse (did I spell that correctly) clutch so that was different. Looking forward to seeing more content the FE!

Stoked for you! I think I may go Husky one day. Closest I've ridden is my buddies '22 KTM 500 EXCF a few times, I call it the mind reader - so comfortable on that right away! Like taking new lines comfortable I have a '22 CRF 450RL (picked up used low mileage) added the Vortex, full Yosh exhaust and a few other things - love this CRF, the traction control option from the Vortex turned it into a hill climbing beast.

My brother owns a 2020 beta 350rr with upgraded suspension, and I've ridden it many times, and every time I've ridden it, i came back with a HUGE smile. These 350's are no joke, amazing motorcycles offroad. I love my 250L, but i will replace it with a more serious offroader once i have the money. The bike i'm thinking of is a moded 500 exc-f/fe 501. I will honestly be happy with any year model from 2014 and up. These are such a wonderful dirtbikes, and with a few mods will be the absolute best bike for me.

Sweet bike !!!!so on my 300 l I basically did everything that you did to it plus I added the 550 performance ECU flash full Yoshi system DNA air filter and full K-Tech suspension rated for up to 240 lb Rider with gear the bike is amazing now only had it off-road one time with the new setup it's more power than I could ask for it is phenomenal........ Total out the door I'm probably almost $9,000 into it but I've got a badass bike that's street legal and also performs off-road when needed 👍

So I came from a 690 enduro r and switched it to a 2015 KTM 500 XC-W and I absolutely know what you mean about “confidence inspiring everywhere”. The bike is just amazing everywhere you throw it! I got to ride my friend’s fully built out 350XCF-W and I was surprised about the power! The only real issue is if you want to take it on the highway. The 500 cruises at lower RPMs. I was absolutely amazed at the power of the 350, so honestly I think you made the right choice between the two. (Like there is a wrong choice lol)

I bought my 2021 FE350 for the same reasons you bought yours for, its just a great compromise if you want to be able to ride everything. For tires I run Michelin AC10 front and rear they are dot legal and work good here in the Pacific North West gnarly mountain single track. I also added the Sicass Racing dual sport kit so I could ride pavement to connect trails.

I feel like the only reason to buy an 300L is for the less maintenance. here in Norway people with husky/KTM change oil every 10 or 15 hours compared to 15 000 KM on the 300L. Would love to hear you talk about maintenance on the FE350

Hi Ole i have a 300L with better suspension/mods.I also own a husky 450 and soon to purchase a husky/ktm 350.There is a HUGE difference between the bikes crf can do 150-200km a day road/trail at a reasonable pace but a very different feel to an enduro bike.Enduro bikes handle far better ,stays on line and handles rock climbs and holes much better. They have more explosive power and faster and more fun to ride. You can ride the 350 over longer distances and its good on the road(just rode 2022 ktm 350) but its not anywhere near as good as the honda. If you are a slower trail rider pick the honda, a faster rider who loves 'the thrill" the husky/ktm.Oil changes are easy and the intervals are given for racing in the manual.

I mean, the husky cost almost 2 times the honda, and in Europe it's not even street legal, so that's definitely not the only reason I think.

Glad you are enjoying your new bike! Awesome to see people live life to the fullest. Except for chics, I have found nothing better to ride than a motorcycle. If I was doing your kind of riding, the 300L is about the last bike I would want. Great choice! But I am going cross country for a couple of years, riding mostly duel track, slow and easy like a two wheel jeep, carrying my 200lbs of stuff for several thousand total miles. In my situation, the 300L Rally is the perfect bike (my mule) and the 350 KTM or Husky would be the wrong bike.

I’ll add my tire suggestion for you. I have a KTM 350 XC-F that I made street legal. I use it as a dual sport most of the time but will trailer it to a few off-road parks nearby to do some single track. The best rear tire I’ve used so far is the Motoz Tractionator Enduro IT. It wears like iron and hooks up great. I haven’t tried the front yet. Still waiting for my current front to wear out. Edit: the current front is a Shinko Fat Tyre. It’s lasting a long ass time, but I wouldn’t recommend because it tends to climb out of single track ruts and get you cross rutted.

I know these newer KTM engines are a little smoother these days, but I had a 2009 450 XC-F and in first gear it was REALLY prone to spinning out in anything even slightly rocky/gravely/hardpack, but going down 3 teeth in the back, and one in the front(13F, 49R) helped smooth it out a TON and since it doesn't really change the gear ratio over all compared to stock (14F, 52R), I didn't really notice any loss of low end power/torque. Also checking out Rich Larson's channel and running his clutch control drills endlessly for days on end helped me get used to modulating a hydraulic clutch after running cable clutches before then. But also these newer KTM/Husky/GasGas have a 9mm master cylinder instead of the older 10mm master cylinder like my 2009, so that helps a lot too with reducing wheel spin and clutch modulation

I live out west here in ca and I run maxxis desert IT front and rear tires. They hold up well on road use, I really only use roads to get to trails. They’re great in the desert and handle just fine on the mountain fire roads too which is where I ride a lot. Little bit harder carcass so you loose a little traction but at the same time don’t worry about pinch flats and wearing down.

I’m sure the 690 is a good bike for the desert and dual sport rides but for the type of riding he will be doing not so much. I think the 500 would have been the ideal bike for Tanner but he can only have one bike so the 350 is definitely a good choice. Like he said eventually the best setup would be to have two bikes , a 300 2 stroke and a 500.

Hi maybe a suitable tyre choice as follows: Dunlop D606 tyre street legal with an emphasis on aggressive off-road riding & longevity. designed for hard off-road use with excellent traction from hard-packed fire roads to soft single-track trails. 10% on-road, 90% off-road. Front Pirelli Scorpion Rally 90/90-21 Off-road tyre used by many top riders on the Dakar Rally Championship DOT approved. The front knobs are designed for stability, they also do a rear tyre to work in conjunction with the front the rear tyre knob is designed for good traction. Cheers

I settled on a 2022 KTM 500 EXC-F after finally giving up my 2004 XR400R last year, still have it, it's on the market. My wife started just about two years ago on the KLX140G, then the KLX230, and finally just picked up a 2020 EF350s yesterday. Gotta lower it some. It has the Scott, the GET ECU, but still has some decent dual sport. She's built similar to your better half at about 5'7" 120lbs. Main thing to do for reliability is keep the air filters clean (have a few spares oiled and ready in baggies) and frequent oil/trans fluid changes on both those bikes (every 15-20 hrs). You have 4 handlebar adjustments on both bikes. Under the bar clamp there are multiple threaded holes in the triple tree for fore and aft adjustment. There are two holes and four adjustments by flipping bar clamps 180deg. This will be especially helpful for your wife and her shorter stature to bring bars a little closer. Remember to set your sag to get the most out of your bikes. Your wife might need a little softer spring. For now back off the preload on the rear spring and set her compression clickers a few clicks softer. If it still kicks, tighten up the rebound a few clicks at a time. I have ridden both the FE350 and KTM 350. Both are fantastic bikes. I used to have an 05 KTM 300EXC for desert racing (retired from racing in 2007) and currently own a 2012 Beta 498 enduro. For high speed stuff think about getting a steering damper. Both GPR and Scotts make good ones. Scotts has a lot more adjustability. GPR's are simpler. Both are effective for keeping you from being spit off from high speed hard hits in the rocks/ruts. I'm a new subscriber so not sure if you already have it. But get a SPOT or In-Reach tracker in case you break or get injured on the trail. Enjoy your new rides. Really good choice of machines.

The platforms you’re talking about are completely different. You’re taking about a dual sport vs a plated enduro. No amount of money will make a 300l perform as good as a Enduro bike. I have a wr250r with tons of mods. Which is better in every way than a 286cc, one piece frame, cbr engine, budgeted design, made in Thailand 300l. And even then my wr250r performs no where near offroad as a enduro bike because it’s a dual sport.

I have no doubt it’s a great bike to ride off road. But the service intervals would do my head in. Every few hours you will spend loads of time and effort servicing bike rather than riding it. If they could do a smallish duel sport esq version (smaller /lighter than the 701) I would snap it up. Like a 401... with reasonable service intervals. Perfect. But I feel like one of these with big service every few hours of riding. That would stop me from riding so much. Wouldn’t want to do long trips etc. Too inhibiting.

I just put on Tusk dualsport adventure on my klr650 and they are amazing off road and i ride alot of sand here in Florida... As for the street they feel great there as well... And the price is very reasonable $140 shipped to your door and that is front and rear...

you cant even compare the 300l to the husky. completely different ballpark that shows itself in the price lol. im glad you got that bike because it suits what you do for your channel much better. the 300l is for much different terrain and easier stuff. you for sure got the right bike. the lambo of dual sports

Btw..... Kenda Trakmasters are cheap but great aggressive nobbies. Not gummy a bit stiffer but are DOT and hold up well. Tusk Recon also cheap and hold up well. Much softer than Kendas... not DOT either. But for the price you can buy two sets for the price of other tires. Great longevity for me with the Tusk Recons

  • @AdventureDaily

I have ran the Trakmaster several times and it is a great budget option but I am spoiled now with gummy tires so it is hard to make the compromise. I was also very happy with the Tusk D-Sport tires so if I needed more of a hybrid tire I would stick with that.

coming from a YZ250 2 stroke, I was not impressed for $11,200 OTD. Not as capable as a 300 2-stroke off road, and lacks the power excitement of a 500. You need a tuner + pipe to liven up the 350, but then you take a 135 hour crank rebuild interval and shorten it to the service interval of an MX bike (with less power), which then you can't truly "dual sport" the bike (and ride from home) because you're trying to save those precious engine hours. I felt like it was mostly popular for people that come from heavier underpowered poorly suspended japanese singles like the DRZ400/CRF250L/300L/DR650/XR650L/DR650. To it's credit, the FE350 was friendly and power was not intimidating, so I think it's a good bike for wife/girlfriend who's looking to step up from her beginner bike (if you're rich enough to afford $12k for a toy),....or a good training bike for classes (Jimmy Lewis uses it to train noobs)...or if you only ride single track and you need a plate. Otherwise, if I needed an excellent single track bike (which most owners will truck to the spot), I'd get a 300 2-stroke. If I wanted a plate and power I'd get a 500/501 for open desert riding or fire roads. If I wanted long legs to true dual sport and slab 80mph for 2 hours before hitting 2-track desert roads, I'd get a 690/701.
