Thank you, it helped a lot. My mother has had peonies for 50+ years and never cut them back or fertilized. I am going to start a proper care program for them today and fertilize and look forward to a better display next year!

Just make sure you pick the proper fertilizer dear you don't want too much nitrogen for your peonies otherwise your mom will pick on you every time she saw you. 😄

Quite neat. 😀👌🏻 Cream puff peonies are adorable but not that fragrant they say. Love peonies.

this is my first year really taking care of my peonies, i lucked out because them (and my roses) have been in the front yard of my house since the 50’s so it’s basically impossible to kill them without digging them up entirely (the previous people actually tried pulling the rose bush out with a truck and a winch and it wouldn’t even budge)

Is activated charcoal good for established peonies?

The video and most bags of peony roots say plant 2 inches and I followed those instructions the first year I planted my peonies. I was subsequently told by local garden professionals in my area (Northern Alabama ) that I should put the eyes at ground level. That worked much better than the two inches. Check with your local garden store to find out the depth you need to plant your peonies locally.

The thing is that you are to be careful that the dirt don't settle too much so that it goes another 2 inches under ground so it's best to leave it at soil level so if it drops it won't be too deep.

Great video! Thank you! I have a few and as they are drying there’s a white powdery on them. Is that normal?

I live in Utah. It's always super dry. Fungus is not a problem, lack of water is the problem. I'll mulch as much as I want.

I just bought some peony roots online, the instruction said “the eyes should be at the level of the soil “. Is it because I’m in zone 8?

I just planted my potted peony that I got at a nursery. Fall should be here in 6 weeks or so. Should I still cut my plant all the way back this year? Or wait until next year when it is more established?

You don't have to cover it. These things can grow in cold places like Alaska. Most grow during the winter time and flower up during the spring.

I have a peony that has never bloomed .. I’ve had it for at least 5 years. It may have bloomed once but I’m thinking it’s planted in an area that maybe doesn’t get a lot of sun.. can I move it?

It's probably planted too deep ... the eyes should be about 2 inches under ground.

The more sun, the better. Yes you can dig it up and move it. Do so only in the fall. Be patient, once you’ve dug up a peony and have transplanted it, it may take the plant upwards of three years to fully adjust and completely bounce back. Only bury it about two inches in the dirt.
