At least with Snyder he brought Joe Gibbs back for four years. I got to see Brunell to Santana twice in one game when they came back to beat Dallas. Finally stopped having bad dreams about Clint Longley 😴. I'll give Snyder credit for that. Great defense then the untimely, tragic death of Sean Taylor and the team started to go downhill.

I had the same reaction a few years ago when Seattle passed on Creed Humphrey for Dee Eskridge. It still hurts but at least it was a second rounder.

Mahomes was a different situation. At the time of the 2017 Draft, Tyler Bray was nothing to write home about (not to mention his injuries) and Alex Smith would have his contract extension expiring in 2018. Getting a potential new franchise QB who had a reasonable likelihood of taking over in one or two years was an understandable decision.

Taking a QB is one thing but taking the Oldest guy with the shaky medical history to WAIT on the bench for two yrs is a fire able offense.

Not a Falcons fan but if they planned to draft Penix couldn't they have gone for another free agent qb? Tyrod Taylor, Flacco and Tannehill were available. None are as good a qb as Cousins but the Falcons could have signed one of them to a two year deal, saved a ton of money and made Penix the starter his third year. That would be a lot of money they could have spent on other players.

I'm a Saints fan and I like M. Penix the NFL network really likes Penix too. K.Cousins is 36 coming off an Achilles injury so the Falcons wanted to get a back-up plan in case Cousins gets hurt. Guys on NFL network also said this puts more pressure on Cousins because Penix is such a high pick that it's possible if Cousins has a bad game that Falcons fans are going to want to see if Penix can do better. I think that Penix will end up the best QB in this draft based on what I have seen at the combine and his college highlights. Penix is special he throws the football like it's a nerf football and he also has great touch and throws his passes so defenders can't get them.

Let's pay Cousins $100m guaranteed, draft a QB in the Top 10 & sit him on the bench for 3 years before he can start full time (baring another Cousins' injury), right when his rookie deal is about up so that you lose out on having a cheap starter to help your CAP out (if they start him without a contract extension & simply pick up his 5th year option, he walks) = crazy!
