In the end I returned it and bought it again from Amazon (first time around was from an external seller). So yeah, I learned my lesson. If the price tag is too good to be true, there you go...

Mine was everything you said... hands only went forward, not back; hour hand juddery not smooth when adjusting; hands revolved a little too slowly when setting. Bought it on eBay. Even the little hour markers were a 'give-away' as they were molded slightly offset. Thank you for this video

Mine does the same thing when setting the time (only goes forward and the hour hand has the same jerky movement as yours) and I bought it from an official Casio retail shop in Penzance, Cornwall. I think it could be an older movement that casio later upgraded because I can't see/find another signs that would indicate it's a fake watch. Remember casio has been making these GA 100's since 2010.

I almost pissed myself when he knocked the watch and and it went half an hour back!

I own a few beautiful and expensive watches, but often travel to some dodgy parts of the world. When I’m doing that I use G-Shock, no one wants to steal a G-Shock. They’re also a great motorcycle piece (I wrecked a Breitling coming off a bike) and for any time you’re likely to cause damage. Although I still see them as throwaways I change the batteries every 3 years and the two I have now are 9 and 7 years old respectively. As a tool to do a job they’re great, but as a watch lover I still love the engineering and detail in my Rolex and Omega watches. My two G-Shocks are the same as the two in this video because I prefer the analogue hands, but the fake market in these is absolutely huge, margins are smaller for the fakers, but getting caught is less likely too.

@@johnhill8529 Hi John I also own and Rolex and a Omega and if i am totally honest, I have never worn either since buying them. Both watches are uber expensive and I would live in constant fear of being mugged. I suppose if i am honest, there really is not point in owning them. I have a few casio's now but my daily wear watch is a Suunto core.

Hi, thanks for the video. I wanted to know what your illumination looks like? I have the GA-100MC-1A4ER (military cloth strap) and only half the numeral indices light up (top half). This watch was long discontinued and I bought new old stock. I wanted to ensure it's functioning properly or perhaps the battery already needs replacement?

*_Sir, have you implemented the Test Screen function? It’s done by pressing buttons A, C, & D simultaneously (or Adjust, Mode, & Forward). All of the selections available in the module shows. A hidden feature in the GA-100 is in Test Mode (in the 1st screen), the speed dial functions as a second hand ticker‼️_*

Has anyone seen a ga100-1a buckle in matte finish , rather than glossy finish ? I bought one with this , everything seems perfect , I'm just wondering as I've only had glossy finished gshock buckles . It states Casio Thailand , and has a slight tint of grey . Is that how ga100-1a buckles are ?

You had me worried for a second! I've got around 40 G-shocks and I've just purchased that one with the camouflage face! I had to go through mine to check it out but it turns out it's the real deal! The face on mine has a matt clear finish and very precise, that was is very glossy and just wrong 😂 I was sweating! It's the first one ive not purchased off Casio themselves! Ie their website.

i got same one, i mean real one , but mines 4 of 2 button not working well,just too much dust too dirty, looks the spring stuck, hard to push, is easy fix..? or just get new one..? edit : just take apart and try to clean it, all those years dust ,sand,water,sweat and shiit on worksite everyday and night, all mixing together form to concrete , literally a rock around button,probably under button too , i dont think water or liquid can break down the concrete, and i break the O ring. i should wight it before cleaning it, see how much shiit i cleaning off.

Hey guy GA-200BW how to set up Washington Seattle time?

Looks like the easiest tell, just looking at the face of the watch is where the hands attach to the movement. It is much smaller on the fake and almost extends to the edges of the hands on the real ones. You can really tell when all three are held side by side at 7:49. Pause the video and have a look.

Wanted to make sure my new watch wasn’t a phony. Smashed it proper. Hour hand didn’t move. But I need a new watch now.

This video is informative but I want to say that some do indeed say "Casio Japan". It usually seems to be the limited edition ones such as the daruma series and I have seen this myself in the G-Shock stores in Tokyo.

This fake watch still does 1/1000, I´ve seen the same one doing just 1/100... And this is the reason I don´t ever shop online. Because I can´t see, touch, examine the stuff I am buying. Yeah right, I might be able to have my money back, but why not save myself all those troubles?

The most obvious thing right off the bat is that the 'G-Shock' bezel branding on the fake is chunkier than the genuine ones.

Good Review Casio should have put Lumibright on the Hands and Race Segments , Not Easy to READ GA100 with the Darkened Face Segments

I recently encountered a fake Casio A168 from eBay that claimed it was the proper article. There was all sorts of problems; indistinct day and date, awful LCD segments, inconsistent gaps on the bracelet, and came on a simple card without a box, genuine manual, or warranty papers. Got fully refunded and managed to acquire a proper one from a known watch dealer. Made me laugh though, because why the hell fake a Casio that was that bloody cheap in the first place??

Yes, they will fake anything it seems! They even fake the classic F-91W which is only about £7 for a genuine one! Madness... But people buy them not knowing I suppose, until they realise it looses a few minutes a month!

@@sparkie21 Yeah I've seen plenty of those. The thing about these people counterfeiting merchandise, it may be a cheap watch, we can pick up the F-91W for around $10 or a little less in the US. But they aren't selling just one watch. They're selling tens of thousands of them. If you're spending all of $2 to have a watch built in basically what amounts to a sweatshop for electronics, and you advertise it for $6, there's a lot of profit to be made over the long haul... Because who doesn't want a $10 iconic watch for $6? If you're only going to make a few, then why bother? But, if you're going to make many thousands, then why not? Now ramp that up and start making A-168 clones too. But that one you're going to sell for $11 instead of the going price of around $18. But, it doesn't cost you any more to make the 168 than it does the 91. You can manufacture any middle of the road watch for $2. Now ramp that up again and start making G-Shocks. They cost a little more to make though... Let's just say $8-$10 each. Ok, let's go with $10 lol. Doesn't matter because there's still tons of profit to be made. Lots of people have had their eyes on that $180 G-Shock that does everything but give head, and you're in just the position to sell it to them. For the steeply discounted price of... $70. Thousands and thousands and thousands of times.

According to what you're saying mine is real. I have your fake one as far as color. I feel much better now, thanks. your fake is much more yellow then mine as it's on the gold side of color. I had one of these Ga-100 years ago and remembered how durable it was so just got another.

just bought mine at 10 GBP below the average price... looked OK at first but main signs of fake, except of here mentioned were: lack of original box, lack of barcodes with model designation, time on analogue and digital not synchronised, user guide for completely different models, no fluorescent indexes and many more.

Yes, it did work, but at more angles than the genuine one. Like the genuine one auto light only works when you go from upward facing to forward facing, The fake would do it even when slanted sideways!

I know higher end casios are made in Japan, but I believe its only the movement in the GA-100 that's Japanese made. I could be wrong of course!

As of now, the link doesn't go anywhere, so Amazon most likely terminated the account. No big deal to them. They've probably got dozens of inactive accounts just waiting to be fired up so they can continue business as usual.

I was planning on buying one from USA all the way to Costa Rica. Getting a fake and doing the refund process would be such a pain in the ass that honestly I'd rather just go to a store and pay more.

I got one from eBay that does the long way around when doing the 5 minute test. Does it confirm that it’s fake?

I got a fake off ebay yesterday. The fakes are also lighter and the face branding is stuck on. Lots off little differences. Worryingly an official dealer I showed it to thought it was genuine.....

MOUKD, if you want to know the fake g shock just remove any screw, and it's pointed like wood screw. Unlike the genuine casio not pointed with fine thread.

May I Know what's the price

Another give away is that the fake G-Shock might not have the motion gesture light on and off like the genuine one

just ordered a glx 5600 1jf few hours ago off ebay, so hope it is the real deal.

I do have a genuine G-shock bought at watch store, It's really reliable, I have it for 5 years so far and I use it daily, and the only things are that is the battery is being changed and the writings on the outer side are fading. I think that they're made to last forever.

I got one for fun, curiosity, abused it, constantly showered with it, mine didnt had the "DVER" chrono gauge, well it had but it was fake. other then that, worked fine...actually, took the abuse well, after 2 years the strap snapped, but the watch itself was ok, a bit beaten up,well used...i think it still runs in some draw....

I had to check mine after watching this, thanks, mine is genuine, but you are incorrect about Casio Japan being on the strap buckle. The one thing I do not like is the date/month is in American format, the month is first then the date

That's a dam good fake. I've got a box of all different fake models from over the years and they're super obvious. Usually they just donr have the "casio" name on them, or no model number

Technically, when you purchased from Amazon, you're buying from a "reseller," a third party retailer somewhere in the world... they might not even know if they're reselling fakes... Best to always buy from an Authorized Casio dealer!

90% original G-shock assemble in China , the rest is assemble in 8 other country including thailand and vietnam. only minor percentage is really made in Japan but it was not sold worldwide, the code for Japan is 1JF or JDM this is pure made in japan , assemble and crafted in japan.

Today i have returned g shock watch and got exact fake one...i have returned it...amazon is not trusted ...actually u can purchase from it where it says"fullfiled by amazon" hope it will be original

i bought on on ebay for 90$ soon as i got it i realized it was a fake because a friend alreay owns a couple so i made the seller give a refund and i got to keep the fake watch. very good looking and te box comes with all the paperwork kind of look like they use an origial box to sell a fake watch.

just glad to find out my dad's g shock is real
