There's really something poetic about john panting covered in blood holding a cross. Like a warrior holding a sword. Personally, I don't see Father ward or anyone forgetting about this hell and just living a "peaceful" life with Lisa.

Honestly, once I get to the ending of chapter 3, I’m just going to give John the rest he deserves.. he went through literal hell for a year, and he somehow got possessed by a demon.. so I think he’s had enough MORTIS for one lifetime

One detail in chapter one, when john goes into the house, in the basement we see the second death ritual had been done, likely on amy. If you dont know the ritual not only makes you a vessel but relinquishes your body to the demon and essentially kills you. So yeah...Amy died that day. So basically if John was a lil earlier he wpuldve been likely successful in saving Amy....either that or the cult wouldve killed him

I thought father Garcia is the one accompanying father John to the Martin's house to exorcise Amy got me confused there whilst watching Markiplier's playthrough

15:13 that most likely has nothing to do with Malphas but is instead something that was done by the resident of the building that got them Damnatio memoriaed. Malphas likely got summoned in the candy tunnels

​@@nathangarhamn2346malphas made his appearance in the apartments. only as brief spooks, or him biting john's face and taking his eyes or whatever that cuscene alu triggered. it does not help that there are two ritual-holes. one where the green person is (my headcanon, is that it's timmy's mom since the saturation is similar) and the dead cult members are scattered. this one MAY be malphas's summon due to malphas making his appearance only in the blackout section. it can't be "handsy" (my name for it) the peekaboo demon since he was already summoned in the candy tunnels. and alu was summoned in the apartment basement. that or malphas was summoned in garyland, but i am leaning towards malphas being summoned in the massacred room in the apartment.

@@nota444tm2 While he does not make an appearance himself in chapter 2 we first learn of him there in the candy tunnels. Where after going through then the text “DOMUS MALPHAS” appears aka Malphas’ Home which seems to be the likeliest place for him to have been summoned. And that hole in the room with the green person is most certainly from the peekaboo demon though it wasn’t where he was first summoned. The holes aren’t portal to hells (the ritual they want to perform on Amy and later John would be meaningless if they were). The peekaboo demon was most likely summoned from the face of Miriam Bell. The holes that we see there and in the candy tunnels seem to be creations by the peekaboo demons. Though I don’t remember a second hole there unless you mean the one in the elevator which is nothing like those holes and have nothing to do with summoning demons. That hole leads to the seventh floor which has been damnatio memoriaed.

@@nathangarhamn2346again, the peekaboo demon was summoned in the candy tunnels because 1. that's where it first appeared. and 2. it shouts "you whore" cause it was used for killing prostitutes and other types of lowlifes. it would not say this in the apartment. no i don't mean the elevator. i mean the ritual in the apartment basement where you find tiffany's mask/face. that is where alu was summoned. especially since gary leaves a note down there saying that alu was there. and tiffany says she did her own ritual down there. malphas has not been summoned in chapter 2 since that was a vision. real events, but miriam bell being alive there means that was a while ago. the peekaboo demon most likely followed the cult to the apartments when they moved. it can go invisible and stay undetected afterall. and there is only one peekaboo demon. especially since the peekaboo demon knows who john is. he's been around for a long time.

Don’t know why I got the urge to watch this at 1 am, but here I am.

Amazing retelling / recap of the story might need to work on the audio quality a bit but this is one of the best recaps for Faith

you have NO IDEA how happy i am that this makes sense. i first played the game 3 years ago. i just came back into the community, maybe around 2 weeks ago. i noticed how i played the game, but never bothered to actually dig deeper into the timeline. thanks for explaining this!

The end was really something. Accept and go to Heaven, or continue vanquishing demons in hell, instead of being “selfish” and living for yourself, when you could do more good! You can go with Lisa after demon hunting anyways.

Great work! Only one point that I'd like to make though is the white figure that appears before John when Amy's exorcism fails and it becomes too much. John asks for God as he is weak and his resolve is almost gone. The white figure must be God as each color in the game has meaning to the character. And Airdorf adds the touch of the "Thee" and "Thine". Additionally the deal that was made, I didn't take it as "at the expense of Amy". Rather, God makes the deal saying "I'll pull you out, but Amy will become your responsibility." It adds further credence the bad ending when his decision or lack thereof is "Unforgivable". IMO

I just watched Wendigoon's interview with Airdorf and it's pretty fantastic! Gotta check it out! Importantly, I must admit that I was wrong, but in the best way possible: So, a being of light comes to visit John and makes a deal with him. Airdorf wonderfully, adds this nugget in here from 1 Corinthians 11:14 "And no wonder for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light." So it is in fact Satan that John sees and he even mentions that to Father Garcia. In John's admission to Father Garcia, I always thought John was using Satan as an allegory for his encounter with Amy but nope! He made the deal with Satan himself which makes sense as to why the "Swear it!" feels so malicious. And in the interview, he also mentions that he didn't feel that making God or Jesus as actual characters in the game would be appropriate which I can respect. Airdorf is a storytelling genius.

Gary explains it himself. When they carve out the face to open portals to hell to bring demons through. Some are worthy, some are not

the second death is using a ritual mask to trace and then carve an unwilling victim's face. we see tiffany's face in the apartment basement. the blood that fills the opening becomes a portal. (evident by amy having the unspeakable's arm reach out her face) then you pass newborn babies through the portal. passing them into someone's face until something answers. this is why gary owns the clinic. and the mother and child are a boss fight. and this is how miriam "gave birth" to gary. amy was the prime victim due to the second death working more effective on more unwilling victims. if you are willing to do this, it wont work, or it's far less effective. use a mask. put it on a victim. carve their face out using the mask. let the blood pour in the hole. pass newborn babies through the hole until something responds. that is the second death.

Tiffany's statement of being the first person to willingly undergo the ritual conflicts with the ritual having been previously done on Miriam Bell. Miriam was a devout follower of the cult like Tiffany so why did it backfire on Tiffany but not Miriam?

The second death is a ritual for summon demons into the world. You carve a face with a handy-dandy summoning blade and shove infants into it until something happens. It's named "The Second Death" after the biblical interpretation of death: There are two deaths, the first of the body, and the second, of the soul.
