FAILED Commercial EICR | ØY39

This is what happens when engineers are let loose on industrial electrical work. To complicate things even more, the previous EICR carried out here wasn't worth the paper it was written on! So we've been drafted in to put things right and to make sure this high performance test facility has an electrical system that's in full working order.

    The contactor is save, its IP20 you are not able to touch any live part without tools. In most countries water and gas pipes are no longer grounded because most of the pipes are plastic.Everything is protected by differential switches, even bathrooms .Normally 30mA types. (in reality 22mA under 5ms). Fuses are there to protect the installation and differential switches are there to protect people. In europe the whole main head room would be a c1 because there is insufficient room to stay clear of potenial live parts.

    The terminals on the contactor, even though you can see them, they are IP2X. However, IP2X is fine inside an enclosure, not exposed like that, so get a cover on them or put it inside and enclosure. Code 2.

    With the 1.5 on a 20A C, it looks like tri-rated so depending on the manufacturer could be good for 21A, however most of the light blue ferrules I've come across have been for 0.75mm Tri-rated.

  • @olly7673

    @olly7673

    3 ай бұрын

    The colour of the ferrule depends on the country of origin of the ferrules i.e is it to the German standard or the French one. Tri rated cables just means that it has passed 3 different standards, BS, UL and CSA so whatever BS7671 gives as values for 1.5mm2 is what should be taken in the UK, dependant on grouping, installation method etc or at least that would be my argument

    Whether C20 mcb is suitable for 1.5mm T+E is dependent on installation method - if clipped direct then ok otherwise not. With regard to the exposed copper or single insulation being acceptable or not, this depends on whether it is inside a suitable enclosure or not.

    1.5mm Cables not suitable for current carrying capacity of 20 amp breaker. Would melt before the breaker tripped if under excessive load. C2 Circuits can always be extended, especially in a place like that with engineers about.

    There’s hardly any actual EICR information information in this. I do like your videos but it just seems like a fan vlog with mainly you guys just loving the camera and showing off tools. You covered the apprentice level of EICR info. You even spoke about what results you should be expecting so vaguely and didn’t even cover the result of the circuit you just tested on the fire panel?
