Faces Of Africa - When Chinese Meet Zambians

Forty years ago, Chinese and Africans co-existed and worked together like brothers and sisters, as witnessed in the Tazara construction. Forty years later, things aren't the same. The once tight connection is faced with numerous strains. Frank Fang and Dr. Gao Kenan both Chinese and residents in Zambia share their life experiences in Africa.

Maybe its time africa start repaying the same behaviour. Im sick of africans being discriminated on in the west, india, china and arab countries while they are welcomed and embraced in Africa. Look at arabs and indians doing buisness in africa in peace while they attack africans in their own countries.

I will say the things that others are afraid to say. Love for Africa? Maybe love for the things Africa can afford them. Was it just the beauty of the land or the vast opportunities to capitalize off it's wealth. The over crowded, polluted environment throughout the Asian continent sends many running to the lands throughout Africa (Senegal, Gambia, Cameron, Botswana etc...) She (Africa) is so willing to sell her culture, land, waters and resources to anyone with a wealthy smile. They have adjusted to an environment that allows them to prosper doesn't make them an Outstanding, Honest individual. Marriage, Why not? He's a man thousands of miles away from his homeland who also stated that dating a female in his country was difficult because of the distance (When in Rome...etc). It's all about locale. Why Africa? Why not!!! I'm not saying that AFRICA doesn't have its problems, we know of it's great DISPARITIES (healthcare, education, human rights) and the fact that every 5/7 years it used as a testing ground for some of the most deadliest disease. Yet it still yields some of the worlds Richest Minerals. Her market places once run by locals are now over run with products from other countries sold by individuals representing those areas. Modernization, big business 'Oil, pharmaceuticals, even Sports are there exploiting her welcoming arms, 'BOTH WAVING THE FLAG CURRENCY' disquised with the SYMPTOM of Greed..

If you do good it comes back to you. When you go to a foreign country, you should respect the people you meet there...otherwise, you should just stay in your home country because no one is forcing you into the foreign country. This should be a lesson to everyone of us moving into foreign lands. Live well with people and life will be good to you. Disrespect people and life will be pathetic to you. if you can't handle the new foreign life, return to your country and live peacefully there. It is sad. I live in America but I get hyped when I meet an African person here! If I can I'll strike up a conversation and try to find something I have in common with their culture. I've connected with people from many African countries just by being nice to them and curious about where they're from. It makes me sad to hear that Africans don't feel welcome anywhere. I always try to make them feel welcomed but knowing this I will try harder. When I went to Ghana they made me feel like I belonged, I want to make them feel the same way in my country.

When has the Chinese ever spoke up for black people when we where thrown out of restaurants, hotel rooms, colleges, etc. and placed in the cold. Where's all the marches, riots that the Chinese citizens have for black people, MLK JR spoke up for the Asian citizens who where receiving unfair treatment. Do most Chinese even care, have any of them even invested in black owned businesses, stood up for black businesses, gave money back to help the people and their communities or have they just gave it all back to their country just because a Chinese or other nationality marries an African doesn't mean that person isn't selfless and all about improving his race and not another race. Africans have been called monkeys, punched in the face like a non human and thrown out of stores in their own country by Chinese have other Chinese ever once came to Africa's defense and got mad at other Chinese people for doing such things. Both Africans and black people world wide have came to the defense of the Chinese saying lets save Asian businesses during this pandemic and lets stop racism towards Asians but have Asians ever once did the same for blacks world wide. They love our money but what do most feel about us, I can respect a Chinese person who's honest because then I know for shore to never be friends or business partners with that person. That's the problem with a lot of us black people where either to afraid to ask or think the same just like the ones who've always been taking advantage of us all these many years, I'm not saying all but the majority. Whites, Chinese, East Indians always have taken advantage of black people and the craziest thing about it is most still respect them, showing them love but I on the other hand find it to be sickening. A Asian women came on national TV and said that a black man resembled a Chimpanzee and all she did was say I'm sorry, the black man said I except your apology and gave her a hug. That to me is sick because I wouldn't never gave her forgiveness or a hug.... no need to tell her to her face that I forgive her I let time tell by her good deeds towards my people and then I'll say may she be forgive her only in prayer but not the media for all to see. I see that as weakness

***** Asian Indians oppress Black people? Lol. When did Asian Indians invade Africa, subject its people to colonisation, rape and war, stealing their resources and then subject them to apartheid in their own lands? Exactly, this fantasy you have of Asian Indians oppressing Black people and "betraying" Blacks is complete and utter rubbish. Are there racist Indians? Of course. Are their racist Blacks? Of course. The only person who then uses the racism of Indians to make broad general statements about us, then simultaneously absolving yourselves of your own racism in order to project this image that you do no wrong, is you. So obviously your initial claims that "when Chinese come to Africa no one harasses them" is patently false.

What I see from this documentary it's about character, intelligence, friendliness, persistence and open mindedness. These are the qualities that draw people to each other. The color of skin, or the type of facial features one has is only secondary. Listen to how the first Chinese man spoke of his love for the areas of Africa he had first visited. Something in his soul was speaking to him. Look at the beautiful Zambian young woman who, with her intelligence and willingness to seize an opportunity, regardless of who was offering it, went on to school for dentistry. Only a not too bright person would let color or where one was born stand in the way of this type of progress.

African slavery in China peaked during the Tang and Song (960 A.D. to 1279 A.D.) dynasties but the number of African slaves taken to China during this 608-year period is unclear. By this point Chinese perceptions of the Kunlun became more complex. These perceptions ranged from strong and mysterious to frightening. The Kunlun in the Tang Dynasty era were portrayed in numerous stories of the period as heroic, resourceful, and-ironically-culturally Chinese. Most Chinese during this period, however, unless they were very wealthy, had little contact with African slaves, perhaps explaining the differing views of the Kunlun. During the Song Dynasty the numbers of African slaves increased in China. Most came from Madagascar and the Comoros Islands and thus indirectly from Africa, since the Arabs brought sub-Saharan Africans to both areas. Most Kunlun slaves in China lived in Canton Province. By this time they were mostly viewed as a displaced people who lacked the ability to adapt to the Chinese environment. They

That was the reason they are hardworking. majority of them started from scratch such as labourers etc n through their determination n hard work, they hv became the dominant race that contribute to the economies of most countries they migrated to such as in Singapore, Indonesia, Philippines, Malaysia, etc. Time has changed n China is no longer the China of yesterday.

I'm glad I decided to watch this channel. I'm learning a few things here. I am a African American product of the Slave trade where my Ancestors came from the Cameron and Belize? Area. When in recent yrs I started to see the Chinese coming into Africa I was and still am very concerned. Africa has all the natural resources and China doesn't so like British and other peoples who came to Africa took resources and land and people like my Ancestors. So I just want the African Leaders and people to be aware of history and for the Chinese to remember their history as well and make decisions not just based on what you can take for the money but what you all can give to a better way of life everywhere.

+Jazzy kat2015 (jazz) some people find mixed children beautiful because they are the mixture of two cultures and ethnicities. Others, because they are not fully black. The first perspective is, in my opinion, the right one. It's finding beauty in every race and ethnicity and finding that mixed children are the outcome of a love that goes beyond race and that knows no boundaries. The latter perspective however, is due to unconscious anti-blackness and self-hate deeply engrained in society, as the remaining of traumatic slavery, colonialism, segregation, discrimination and (still remaining) racism. So, I agree with you but, finding mixed people beautiful isn't always (fortunately) due to that self-hate and anti-blackness. It's sad though, that this causes black features to be underrated, not promoted enough and considered less beautiful yet they are so very lovely.

@@eswyy When has the Chinese ever spoke up for black people when we where thrown out of restaurants, hotel rooms, colleges, etc. and placed in the cold. They love our money but what do most feel about us, I can respect a Chinese person who's honest because then I know for shore to never be friends or business partners with that person if he or she says something bad about my people. That's the problem with a lot of us black people where either to afraid to ask or think where the same just like the ones who've always been taking advantage of us all these many years, I'm not saying all but the majority.

@@mikaeels.6477 There are plenty of people in the US right now who aren't speaking up against the president. And a huge majority of them are due to the fact they simply don't care for politics or any of that. So you're gonna blame each single American that you come across that they're the reason for whatever's wrong? You're putting way too much responsibility onto one single citizen. Like I said, unless this guy has direct ties to the CCP, he's a private citizen that has his own life. Also, this African woman married him. He must be an okay dude right?

@Honkpilled Honkkler "Asians are racist." Wow, that's not fair. While the boys can choose to be African, let's not forget that in their body flows Chinese blood. They should not deny half of their heritage. We also want to claim them. They are as much Chinese as they are Zambian.
