Who has seen this before? p.s minor cases can be fixed, but something like this is there to stay. You can search "screen burn in fix" and keep a video running for a few hours. In my experience, it never works for any display I've had brought to me but It's worth mentioning.

Learned to keep my brightness down, stay mostly in darkmode and not let the sun ahine on it/let it get too hot. I'm not too bothered by it, honestly, if i'd change the screen every time i can just as well spend that money on a new phone after some time (i don't, i usually use mine for at least ~3-4 years or until they break)

BTW, it’s not actually burned in. The term “Burn in” originates from CRTs where the cathode rays would etch stuff into the back of the glass, essentially burning the image in. On newer displays, it’s an issue with pixels losing brightness or shifting color over time. One really easy way to prevent this is to just use a lower brightness. At 50% brightness it will probably take a couple years longer for burn in to occur compared to 100% brightness.

Maximum brightness, reverse colors, always on display and let it sit at the exactly image that got burn in. It will burn the unburned areas and soften or make the marks disappear. It will cost you screen brightness but better a dimmer display than a marked display. You can also switch between light and dark mode if the burn is only the top status bar. I personally do this everytime I feel the burns are getting visible. But also I stopped setting my screen brightness too high.

If you have an LCD phone screen, it's actually called image retention and is fixable with a simple youtube video. Search for a long image retention fixer video on youtube and play it at max brightness and make sure it's zoomed in to fill your phone screen's aspect ratio (i.e. no black bars) If you have an OLED phone screen, then you're out of luck and need a new screeen. For iPhones, the following have an LCD screen. All home button iPhones, plus the iPhone XR and iPhone 11. If you have any home button iPhone or the xr or 11 and it does get image retention, you can fix it with the mentioned steps.

Actually it's not totally unfixable, depending on how much it's burned in. Some screens with lighter burns can be saved with some apps that made your screen shine blue, green, red, white and black (the primary colours of this medium plus all and nothing). That helps to reaktivate the leds. You have to run that for quite some time, about 15 to 30 minutes straight. At least you can try that before replacing the screen.

The problem on OLED devices is that the organic matter is used up faster in those places, which results in a dimmer light than everywhere else. Flashing different colors on the display for a while will make it less noticable, but all it does is "burn in" the rest of the display equally. It can't restore the used up pixels. And to my knowledge LCDs don't have any reported cases of burn in. The only form is temporary burn in that goes away once the display is power-cycled (for example by unplugging it). The reason for screen savers is that CRTs had burn in. So it's a little more historic than LCDs.

I'm using a Redmi9 with IPS-LCD and it got a burn-in,I saw it while I was on Google via dark mode and I was dumb and I thought that resetting it would help, and I've erased my data like 3 times, it's still there but my burn-in would have disappeared but now it's permanent and I'm not changing my screen, however,I have this phone since last year

A few more tips from personal experience: 1. Set your screen timeout to the minimum. Some phones let you go down to 15 seconds. If you can, lock your phone when you're not using it. 2. Avoid bright wallpapers. As shown in the video, the phone had a bright white background which is not good. 3. I suggest setting a moving wallpaper. Get Wallpaper Engine from the Play Store (Android only unfortunately) and set a moving wallpaper. You can use any video as your wallpaper with this. 4. Don't let the screen stay on for long periods of time. Especially on bright colours like white, etc. 5. Set your screen's brightness to automatic. If you find it too bright/too dark sometimes, just change it manually. The phone will stip adjusting it for a while. 6. As PRG said, USE DARK MODE. One more thing is to enable Developer settings and enabling "Force Dark Mode for Unsupported Apps". This setting may not show up so don't worry.

Additionally, reducing screen bightness and setting your screen timeout to be short helps prior to burn-in (along with active elements on screen such as videos). Save your OLED and only power your screen on when you use your phone.

I went to Best Buy a month or two ago to help my grandma pick out a new TV. The sales guy kept trying to get my blind as a bat grandma (and her blind as a bat grandson) to buy a $4,000 dollar, _40 inch- OLED TV because it's a "good investment." "What about the problems OLED's have with screen burn in?" "Nonono, OLED's don't have burn in, they have software that prevents burn in, that doesn't happen anymore." Oh, hey, how are you doing, _this video?_ I know the software pixel shifting is a real thing, and it probably helps a little but it doesn't matter how many times you shift the image to the right by 2 or 3 pixels if you have solid blocks of color that are 50 - 100 pixels wide. You know, like how all watermark logos and banners and menus and all the other shit that always causes burn-in is visually designed? If the images on screen were actually different 2 or 3 pixels to either side, then I probably wouldn't have the kind of image on screen that causes burn in, anyways... Yeah, no thanks on that 40 inch first gen shit. WE decided to get a 52 inch screen for _literally_ less than a tenth what that other one cost.

They are right. I’ve had an LG oled tv for two years and no burn in with moderate use. It can happen but it’s pretty uncommon. Then there’s my Note 10+ that got burn in after 8 months due to less software features to reduce it, more use, and more usage of the same UI elements on a phone that you don’t have on a tv. So, unless you leave your tv running the same news channel all day for a few years, your OLED tv won’t get burn in.
